4 Chapter 4

Sorry, this was the lost and forgotten chapter. I finished editing it, but I never really posted on Webnovel. BUT, I am back! Actually, for this time, I will try to upload 2 to 3 weekly. Also, tell me any suggestions about the length of the chapters. I am thinking about shortening them, so I could upload more frequently.

Two months later on a random weekend ~

The atmosphere at Bo City slowly grew colorful, and many people are leaving their homes to enjoy shopping and strolling around the city before winter hits. For others, it was a time of their last harvest both for farmers and hunters in the woods. For students, exams and study seasons are nearing, but most of them are rather playing and hanging outside as a group.

In the Tian Lan High School dormitory...

A mentally exhausted monkey opened the door to a room that shined the bright afternoon light in. "Brother Mo Fan, I can't cultivate and align the stars anymore today. I am actually seeing stars right now."

Xiaohou looks at Mo Fan who is also cultivating ceaselessly, but he can't figure out why Mo Fan can cultivate longer. 'It seems like he can just meditate for the rest of the day. Maybe, is it his God-given talent? Who knows, I am too tired right now.'

"Umm. That's fine. We can stop today," Mo Fan looked at Xiaohou, who looked to be having a difficult time even walking, leaned on the door. "Come in, you take a nap. Then we can walk around the city."

Xiaohou gladly sat down on Mo Fan's chair and began to blackout immediately. Mo Fan thought 'The monkey did pretty well today, cultivating for 5 hours and 1 hour of controlling stars. It wasn't easy but he is slowly getting used to doing this every day.'

Mo Fan decided to stop cultivating and rather focus on more important questions to answer.

'Why did I awaken Shadow, Fire, and Lightning Element? It was technically his first three elements in his past life, so does that mean I can awaken my next three elements no matter what?'

Mo Fan shelved the idea because he can only test that once he reaches Mid-Tier mage.

Second problem: the Little Loach isn't helping Mo Fan with cultivations. Mo Fan did expect this; however, he didn't know that this would be such a problem. He was very frustrated due to no direct solutions to revive Little Loach. 'Looks like I have to wait until I get my hands on a large amount of spiritual energy to awaken it.'

Without the help of Little Loach, Mo Fan was pretty down due to not getting any passive increase of cultivation of the Lightning Star Cluster. Mo Fan sighed. "I can cultivate around 15 hours a day; triple of the normal people. But it feels so wrong to cultivate without the passive benefits of Little Loach!" Mo Fan had the help of Little Loach ever since he started to be a mage in his past life.

"I guess this is what happens when I get spoiled by it." Mo Fan grabbed the Little Loach trying to get a response. Of course, it acted just like a normal stone.

Mo Fan switched his focus on the Lightning Cluster that he has been cultivating for the last two months. It was shining brightly and 7 stars acting like energetic kids on a playground. 'Let's try to align stars.'

Mo Fan called the first star which immediately obediently sped to the correct place. 'One…' Mo Fan continued to the next, and it was the same. 'Two… Three… Four… Five… Six… Seven… Complete.'

The Star Path glowed ominously on Mo Fan's palm; a center star in the middle with two rings encircling it with 3 stars each. Mo Fan was surprised' however, it made sense. In his past life, he has connected countless stars to insurmountable times, and 7 stars are just for casuals.

*Bzzt zzzzz. The luminous lightning danced on his palm. Jagged, ready to be released at any moment.

Mo Fan smiled. 'Seems like I won't have to worry about connecting stars until I get to higher tiers. However, the problem now is mana. I need enough mana to cast the magic.' Mo Fan tested out his spell in a safe manner. "Thunder Seal: Lightning Python's Scar." Mo Fan made sure to control the size of the lightning; roughly 5 feet tall reaching to the plaster ceiling.

It seemed magnificently tamed and controlled yet dangerous. If Mo Fan fired one at a normal human being, it would completely paralyze and almost annihilate their major body parts and eventually result in death.

'Good progress! Finally got somewhere!' Mo Fan was happy with the result.

Suddenly, he felt slight mental tiredness hit him. Slightly weakening his arms and legs. 'I guess releasing two of these spells would completely drain me. Hmm, I really need to stack up on my cultivation.'

But now, I convert my focus to my other elements. Shadow or Fire. Hmmm.' Mo Fan evaluated both the passive buff that Shadow and Fire Element gives.

Upgrading an element gives the owner a passive buff. (Higher the level of the element, the better the passive.)

Lightning Element's passive - Gives slight resistance to any lightning attacks.

Fire Element's passive - Gives slight resistance to ice and fire attacks.

Shadow Element's passive - Gives night vision and elusiveness to the user.

"O well, winter is coming soon anyways. Fire Element it is I guess. 12 hours on Fire Element and 3 hours on Shadow Element?" Mo Fan decided.

"What hours on what hours?" Xiaohou barely consciously overheard Mo Fan and asked.

"O, Ummm. Nothing, are you refreshed now?" Mo Fan saw that the little monkey is still kind of tired and handed him a bottle of water. "Let's take a walk around the city. We can talk more about aligning stars as we explore around."

Xiaohou half-awakened and grabbed the bottle. He willingly chugged half of the water and nodded. "Brother Fan, I can align only one right now, but the 2nd star is slowly obeying. It is so tedious! Once you fail, you have to restart over again and again." Xiaohou complained about the process.

"All right. Not bad, if you continue practicing this, you will probably be able to release magic in about 7 or 8 months." Mo Fan stated calmly.

"WHAT! 7 months of doing this head aching stuff!" Xiaohou did not enjoy one bit of aligning stars together. "It is so finicky and monotonous!"

Mo Fan sighed heavily. "If you think this is hard, wait until you reach higher levels. If you keep complaining, you are going to be left in the dust by other students like Zhao Kunsan." Mo Fan chuckled.

Once Xiaohou heard that fatty, Mo Fan sparked a fire in Xiaohou's eyes. "I will refuse to lose to that dog! Teach me how to get stronger." Xiaohou suddenly perched up from the chair and looked at Mo Fan with the eyes to out-train Zhao Kunsan.

Mo Fan was happy to see Xiaohou's desire. "You are already doing a lot better than most people in our class, but we need to keep our heads down and work."

*grrrr

After tedious hours of focusing, Xiaohou's stomach growled complaining about not being fed. "Let's go grab some food first." Mo Fan grabbed his jacket and headed outside with the monkey following him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Both of them headed into the city. It was filled with people on the weekends. Crowds shuffling everywhere possible. Some of them are playing and joking with friends, vending and buying food, and enjoying the autumn to the fullest. The aliveness of the city created a cheerful and warm ambiance.

Mo Fan smiled at the happiness and positiveness of the city. 'I gotta prepare myself and others around me for the calamity of Bo City. I need to get stronger and plan ahead of time, but right now let's enjoy the city.' Mo Fan grabbed some chicken on a stick and bubble teas for them.

"Brother Fan, how do you efficiently make the stars obey your directions?" Xiaohou asked while eating.

"I'll be blunt, and don't take it badly. You lack experience in commanding the stars, and you gotta think like a leader. Think of your stars as your soldiers, and as a leader, you can't be indecisive and wimpy which would result in a lack of obedience and carefree stars. On the other hand, if you are too harsh and strict, it will lead to rebellious nature and be met with constant mental fights." Mo Fan shared his experience. "It is almost always better to establish a better long-term relationship because you don't want to experience a breakdown of star alignment while fighting.

"Furthermore, some stars will be tsundere, yandere, kuudere, princess kinds, uncontrollable energetic kids, slow-moving grandparents, ignorant Karens, talkative parents, bratty kids, and etc." Mo Fan added. "You need to try everything to gain more experience to connect stars together."

Xiaohou digested the information and stared at Mo Fan, slightly shocked. "That is how you connect stars together?" While in his head, he tried playing a scene where Mo Fan is trying to please a Karen. He shuddered at the thought.

"Yep." Mo Fan answered calmly.

"Anyways, how is your Fire Element doing? Once I can use the Wind Element, the first spell is Wind Trail: Swift Current. It sounds so cool!" Xiaohou pumped his hands, seemingly excited for casting magic.

"You know what would be even cooler? You can strengthen any fire spells with your wind spell, and you can manipulate the fire spell to be quicker or larger as an aoe attack." Mo Fan explained how Wind and Fire Elements can be complement elements working together.

Xiaohou beamed at Mo Fan from his explanation just like an excited child. "That would be so sick! We can be the best duo."

"Maybe. But you will have to train yourselves up to that level first. Just keep on marching." Mo Fan encouraged Xiaohou.

For the next hour, both of them wandered around Bo City and went back to their dorm afterward preparing for school tomorrow. Of course, Mo Fan cultivated until the very morning.
