To Get Rid Of Them All

"Maiko, you let that foolish woman! You let the snake escape, and now it's on the loose. If you had any sense, we wouldn't be in this mess!"

"It's not my or Estera's fault. You were supposed to handle the snake. You're just as incompetent."

Mateo glared at him, "Incompetent? Me? I regret not taking care of Barbara when I had the chance. She's the reason this snake is out there.

"You are so pathetic , how could you say that about your own daughter? You sick bastard!"

"Sick bastard? Me?!" Mateo raised his tone, "She's a liability, Maiko! If I had dealt with her sooner, we wouldn't have to worry about this snake causing havoc."

"This is fucking absurd! Barbara is your blood, your own flesh and blood. You can't just talk about burning her like that."

Mateo turned away from his son, he couldn't face him any longer, but he had to explain.

"You don't understand, Maiko. You're too ignorant to see the bigger picture. We need to eliminate this family's enemies and Barbara is a threat."

"Threat? She's family! You're the real threat here, talking about burning your own daughter…"

"Heartless? I'm just being pragmatic. It's time someone takes charge and makes the tough decisions. I should have done it earlier."

"Ttscch," Maiko frowned in disgust, " as if you haven't done it already. You're the real snake here, father. You're the one poisoning our family with your twisted ideas and hurting Barbara."

"Watch your tone, Maiko. You're just a clueless child. You have no idea what it takes to protect this family."

" Protect? All I see is you blaming everyone else and regretting not doing something terrible earlier. You may do whatever you want, but you stay away from her."

A short laugh escaped Mateo's lips, "You're a fool, Maiko. You'll see soon enough that tough decisions are necessary. I won't let sentimentality ruin this family."

The dimly lit room cast shadows on the puffy chairs, the table, and the bookcase that was filled with thick and heavy books.

Mateo's grin widened as he spoke.

"You understand that We can't let that boy roam freely. He's a threat, and I won't rest until I find him and make him suffer. No snake magic this time to protect him…" His smile faded.

Maiko, succumbing to his father's dark influence, sneered.

"You're right, about that little bastard. We need to find him and show him what happens when you cross us. No mercy."

The air in the room felt heavy with malice as Mateo continued his malevolent plans.

Mateo played with fire in his fingers, like controlling a little ball inside of his mind.

"I'll track him down, break him bit by bit. No stone left unturned until he's a shell of what he once was."

Maiko's eyes widened, "I'm with you... We'll make sure he regrets ever crossing our family."

As they kept sharing their sadistic thoughts, the room seemed to absorb their wicked intentions.

The atmosphere darkened, mirroring the blackness in their hearts.

" Once we're done with the boy, we'll set our sights on the king. We'll dethrone him and take control."

Maiko, now fully embracing the good part of the plot, chimed in.

"That stoopid king won't see it coming. We'll manipulate our way to power, and no one will be able to stop us."

The puffy chairs seemed to absorb the wickedness, and the shadows danced with their reflections.

Not only the innocent child was in danger, but the king too…it was his fault for forbidding unreasonable killing, and if it was supposed to be a reasonable one, they had to provide evidence of their claims.

But no one could find faults in the boys, not a single mistake was made by them.

Mateo couldn't prove that the threat was real and the prophecy was supposed to come true.

So he waited, and plotted more and more…

"We'll use every resource, every connection. No one will escape our reach. And when we're at the top, we'll make them all pay…"

Maiko agreed to his father, "They'll regret underestimating us. The king, the boy, everyone who ever doubted our family.

The table that was once a symbol of family gatherings, now bore witness to the birth of a new plan, a new victim…

"I think it's time for a new era, Maiko. An era where we control everything. Power, revenge, and fear will be our weapons."

"You know father, I thought you were just stupidly paranoid, but I like this idea of yours. Our enemies won't know what hit them. We'll crush them all, one by one."

"Very well, now, I will send you to search for the boy. You will leave tomorrow at night, and no one should notice you."

"Can I take Barbara with me?"

Mateo's look hardened, "that bitch will stay here with me. I have different plans for her."

"What plans?"

"I will sell her to the Duke," Mateo forced a smile.

"Wh-what?! No! I will not allow it!"

"You will do as I say, or else…"

Without waiting, Maiko stormed out of the room, filled with rage and anger, he placed his hand on his head and then grabbed his own hair.

Releasing it, through gritted teeth he saw Rosa.

"You! Come to my room now!"

Her eyes widened and skin turned pale, she couldn't let him see her this way.

"My lord, I must attend to lady Barbara now, please, visit your wife tonight."

The answer, "no" made his blood boil even more, he walked closer to the maid, grabbed her by her throat, and looked her straight into the eyes.

"Are you disobeying me?!"

"N-no!" Rosa tried to explain.

"Then go to my fucking room!"

He released her and Rosa fell to her knees, without looking down, Maiko went to see his sister, who was comfortably laying on the bed.

"You have nothing to tell me?"

As soon as Barbara heard her brother speak, she released a heavy sigh, "no, what do you want this time?"

"To kill Karyan with your own hands."
