40 Chapter 40 Ethaan's subordinates

Althea didn't make a sound but her tears continued to flow down. She let Ethaan embraced her and coax her.

A blackguard who was guarding the door immediately kneeled on one knee.

"Go to the Baro clan and investigate the current situation out there. Pay more attention to clan leader and his daughter", ordered Ethaan.

"Yes, my Lord", Ruching immediately left after taking the order.

Ethaan sent his men to investigate the Baro clan because he knew that Althea was worried about her grandfather and mother. If nothing major happened, he would assure Althea when she wakes up so that she doesn't need to worry much.

After giving out the order, Ethaan cast a barrier outside Althea's room and went back to his room and sat down. He had a serious expression on his face. A moment later there was a knock on the door, " My Lord, I m back"

"Come in", Ethaan replied.

It was Ethaan's other Blackguard. He stopped the guard from kneeling and directly asked, "Yuwan, Did you find out anything?"

"My Lord, they are yet to find out that the pathway between the two planes had opened. But it won't be long before they came to know of it", said Yuwan.

Holding his chin, Ethan's expression becomes frosty. "Even if they came to the land of Dura, they won't be able to get what they want. I am no longer a weak child from before"

Yuwan could feel the frostiness in his Lord's tone and couldn't help but shiver. It's very rare for his Lord to have this expression. Yuwan also came to understand that Althea is very important to his Lord to which he mentally took note of. As a trusted subordinate of Ethaan, both Ruching and Yuwan were very well aware of their Lord's past.

"Keep a close watch at both the Silver Palace and Mystic Dragon Palace. Notify me immediately if they make a move", said Ethaan.

"Lord, you want me to go back there!", asked Yuwan.

Ethaan understood what Yuwan wanted to say, "hmm.. don't worry. Ruching is here'

Yuwan nodded, "Then, be careful"

After saying that, Yuwan immediately left.

Ethaan remained in his room to cultivate. In the afternoon, Ethaan sensed a movement in Althea's room. He opened his eyes and got up to leave. But Ruching returned at the same time.

"What is the situation?", Ethaan asked.

"The clan leader of Baro clan and his daughter seems to be worried about Althea. They are planning to go look for her in the Hollow mountain range if she didn't return today", reported Ruching.

Ethaan nodded and headed towards Althea's room.

Coming near Althea's room, he knocked at the door. "Awake!"

"En.. come in", Althea replied.

Ethaan pushed opened the door and walked inside, "How are you feeling now?"

"I am fine now. I troubled you again. Thank you", said Althea with a light bow.

"You are my fiance, it's my duty to take care of you. Don't think that you troubled me and also, you don't need to thank me", said Ethaan as he sat down opposite Althea.

Althea didn't know what to say. Even though they are engaged, they just met okay. Besides they don't have any mutual feelings as of now. It will take a long time before the little rabbit in their hearts starts jumping.

Looking at Althea who was lost at words, Ethaan chuckled, "I know we are more or less like a stranger for now. We don't even have feelings for each other. But I am willing to get to know you and build a strong bond between us. If you are not willing or if you already have someone in your heart, I will not come in your way"

Ethaan peeked a glance at Althea after saying that.

Althea who was taking a sip of water almost choke on it. She was taken aback by Ethaan's straightforwardness.

"Cough...cough... no I don't.. don't have anyone. I have been waiting for....you", Althea hurriedly said. But after saying Althea regretted it, she started blushing.

"That means you agreed!", asked Ethaan.

"To build feelings for each other", said Ethaan with a smile.

Althea's face became beet red. She didn't reply and stood up. " I got to go back. My grandfather and mother might be worried"

Althea saw Ethaan laughing and thought, 'This guy had been teasing me intentionally'

"Okay, let's go", said Ethaan as he got up too.

" I can go by myself. You don't need to drop me off", said Althea.

Ethaan arched his brows and bend down to face Althea whose height could barely reach his shoulder. "After so many years I found out. we aren't separating. Wait for me, I will be back in a minute"

Saying that Ethaan went out of Althea's room leaving the dumbfounded Althea inside.

'What does he mean?', thought Althea. It didn't take much time for Ethaan to be back.

When Ethaan came back, Althea's pupil constricted.
