5 Chapter 5 Racer

But in the end, Qian Shanshan sacrificed her life to save Wu Mei. Given that she has been given a second chance at life, it is only natural that she will treat her with the utmost respect.

"Shanshan, I'm all packed up and ready to go!"

"Huh? Meimei, who are they?" Shanshan glanced at the people standing outside. Their clothes had a lot of extravagant jewelry and due to that, they did not fit into the standard of the shabby place Wu Mei was staying. They looked so odd. 

"They are unimportant, so you shouldn't be concerned about them. Come on, let's get going; if not, we'll end up being late."

The Wu Family could only stand there and look at the person who had abandoned them in favor of her friend with rage in their eyes. Who in their right mind would then turn around and leave the person who risked her life for you in order to be with the same individuals who were responsible for the destruction of your life?

Wu Mei's eyes darkened, "I won't stand by and watch those who are precious to me go through pain ever again." She thought to herself as she pulled Shanshan along with her without even replying to all the yells of the other people that were still standing there. 

"Meimei.... What the heck is going on?"

"Shanshan... If I were to go, would you come with me?" Wu Mei suddenly asked. 

"Mei.... Why, yes, of course I will. I will do everything for you, even die."

When Wu Mei pictured the image of Shanshan giving her life for her, she couldn't help but let out a bitter smile.

"Let's get ready to race."

"Huh? Meimei are you sure?"

"Yeah."

"Wu Mei... Does this have anything to do with the people who are waiting for you at your house? Who are they, Mei?"

Wu Mei glanced at Shanshan, she was wondering if she should tell but since they Shanshan would eventually know about it anyway, it was better to talk about it now, "They are my parents, or rather, my real mother, her new husband and stepkids."

"Parents? Meimei, have you finally located your biological parents?" Shanshan questioned excitedly, however, she realized that the way Wu Mei treated them was as if she did not want them to look for her in the first place, "You don't like them?" 

"How could I possibly allow myself to like them?" Aside from her rebirth and the ordeals she went through in the Wu Manor, Wu Mei would never keep anything from Shanshan, thus she disclosed the information that she had gleaned about the Wu family.

"They took the lives of both my adopted mother and my father.... They told me that they could assist me in performing the necessary rituals for them as long as I went back to the house with them. If you were in my position, Shanshan, would you decide to come back?"

The only reason Shanshan was asked such a ridiculous question was so that she could tease her but Shanshan's answer made her laugh. 

"You should go back..." 

"Huh?"

A sneer appeared on Wu Mei's face while a shadowy light shone in her eyes, if Shanshan wanted her to go back then...

"..... In order to take care of them!"

"Ah..." Wu Mei stared wide eyed at Shanshan who was still mumbling in fury. Then slowly, a smile tugged at her lips. If no one ever likes her, Shanshan would always be there for her it seems. 

"They could not possibly have anything but ill will in mind by coming here! They had no right to put Uncle Wu and Aunty Wu to death! Wu Mei you have to seek retribution and if you don't, I will force you to that!"

"Shanshan, do you believe that I'll allow myself to go through this? I'm going to make it to the big city..."

Previously, Shanshan had asked Wu Mei if she planned to visit the city at any point in the future. Wu Mei said to her that the only time she would travel to the city is either to reunite with her family or to show off her money. Shanshan was aware that the first possibility was not the case, so she wondered, could it be the second?

"You... You want to flaunt your wealth??

"Hahaha! I'm sorry, Shanshan, but that's not what I'm aiming to do at all. Without even you telling me to do anything, I already thought of heading to the big city... To destroy the Wu Family."
