24 Stephanie Playing The Victim Game

"Thank you. I can't believe you are such a darling," Victoria said giving him her most seductive smile. She completely forgot the state of the mess she was in.

What the devilishly handsome guy did after she spoke stun Victoria.

"Gosh, you are dirtying my shoe," He said throwing her right hand which was on his shoe to the floor.

"You....," Victoria was speechless.

"That is Vincent for you, uncaring and fearless," Stephanie thought smiling as she quickly rushed to help her sister off the dirty floor.

"Don't you dare..," Victoria threatened as she refuse to accept Stephanie's outstretched hands.

"This is the problem with beautiful ladies. They are always fighting to gain people's attention. I wonder which rich tycoon they are fighting over this time around," Vincent who was holding a bouquet of purple rose thought shaking his head in disappointment as he walked away from the scene of commotion.

"I can't believe she thought that Young Master Vincent will help her off the floor. This is why I always say, overconfidence is not good. Look at how she was utterly embarrassed. What a shame," a socialite said loudly walking out of the scene.

"In this life, I did rather not have a sibling than to have a coldhearted sister," another of the socialite said giving Victoria mean glares before she walked away.

"You see what you have caused. Are you happy now that you have succeeded in completely ruining my life," Victoria said struggling to stand up?

"Did you just say, I ruin your life?" Stephanie who looked so calm and innocent earlier huffed. "You are the one who succeeded in almost ruining my event so are you delighted that your plans have succeeded?" Stephanie asked trying not to flare up since the reporters were still filming.

"Ruin my event? Hell no! My event has already been concluded before you executed your plans. So thanks Sis for allowing me to humiliate you on a platter of gold," Stephanie thought trying to suppress the urge to laugh at her stupid sister who thought she was still the little naive Stephanie.

"After publicly embarrassing me, you still have the guts to play the victim game?" Victoria said approaching her. After all that happened, she still didn't learn her lesson.

"Are you Ok?" A voice which belonged to a guy asked. Without turning to see who it was Stephanie knew whom the voice belonged to.

"This wouldn't have happened if you have shown up on time," Stephanie said in low keys. Just both of them could hear what she said.

"Victoria, are you Ok?" Clifford asked covering her with his overcoat. Even before Victoria tripped Stephanie, he was in the room. He deliberately did not intervened just to see what plans Stephanie had. Although he felt terrible for Victoria, he somewhat felt happy that Stephanie had the upper hand as always.

"Do I look fine to you?" Victoria snapped back harshly. She and Clifford were never in good terms even when they were kids. Since the first time she set her eyes on him in their Mansion, she has just disliked the poor boy for no good reason. With each passing year, her dislike for him developed into pure hatred.

"This wouldn't have happened if that stupid sister of yours did not pour the tray of food on me," Victoria said staring daggers at her.

"We both know that she would have been the one in this terrible state if she did not counterattack your evil plans," Clifford said wrapping his hand around her shoulder.

"Stop pretending to care about me because I know you don't," Victoria replied rudely pushing his hand off her shoulder. She tried to approach Stephanie again but Clifford held her in place.

"Haven't you been embarrassed enough? Save yourself from more embarrassment and let's go," Clifford stated pulling her along with him. Before he went out of sight, he winked at Stephanie to tell her he is always on her side.

"Why didn't you do anything earlier and why did you arrive late. I remember a specific person promising me to arrive on time but he still went back on his words," Stephanie said sounding very upset.

"I didn't interfere earlier because I saw that you were having a lot of fun and arriving late was never my intention. I got stuck in traffic," Gabriel said offering Stephanie his hand for her to lean on.

"That doesn't matter. You still arrive late despite making promises, " Stephanie said walking away. She looks angry, Gabriel could tell.

"Lily, tell Mr Freda to wrap up the event after a few minutes. I am heading home now, " Stephanie informed.

"You did a very good job, I am proud of having you as my assistant, " Stephanie complimented as she turned to leave, she halted when she recalled something.

"Thank you so much for the compliments and have a safe trip, " Lily, who put on a purple sleeves dress said meekly. She wanted to ask her whether she was alright after the incident that just occurred but she couldn't bring herself to ask her.

"I forgot to ask you earlier about Mr Clark. Did he show up?" Stephanie turned to face her again. She has been damn busy since she arrived, she completely forgot to ask about the guy.

"Yes, he arrived a few minutes after the opening. I saw him about five minutes ago but I am not sure he is still in the hall," Lily informed, her gaze on Gabriel who was standing right beside her boss. From his expression, she could tell that he was not in a good mood.

"Really? Why didn't you inform me earlier? I can't believe I just stood him up, " Stephanie said scanning the entire hall in search of the guy who desperately wanted to see her. She felt so guilty for not remembering a thing about him.

"He told me not to disturb you. He said he wanted you to be the one to remember him, " Lily relayed. She felt terrible for the guy who seems to like her boss so much.

"Damn it. I failed him yet again. I can't imagine how hurt he must be feeling right now, " Stephanie said still scrutinising the vast hall for any sign of Clark.

"Are you looking for someone?" Gabriel asked calmly.

"Don't you remember the blind date guy I told you about? I promised to personally welcome him to the event today but I forgot, " Stephanie said walking around the hall.

"You are still keeping in touch with him? Don't you always cut off all ties with guys you go on blind dates with?" Gabriel asked curiously.
