Death and Rebirth

Allison lay there and watched as her murderer cackled loudly at her misfortunes. Her whole life flashed before her eyes and she noted she had lived a very mundane and normal life.

She was a filial daughter, a wonderful sister, a lovely friend and a devoted girlfriend. She didn't know where everything went wrong. How could she not notice her best friend, Lily, was jealous of her and her boyfriend? How could she not notice the stars in the eyes of her best friend when her boyfriend was around?

Now, she was dying for it. Her ignorance. Her stupidity. Her trust and faith in humans. Her boyfriend was caressing her murderer as she spouted everything to her.

How she had been sleeping with all her boyfriends, brother and even father. How she had been slowly poisoning her mother and sisters.

Anger boiled in her but it was too late. After her death, her family was coming after. All because of their selfishness and greed.

Spots filled her vision as her life force was slowly draining. She was very unwillingly to die. On top of that, few minutes before her murder, she was about to tell her boyfriend about her pregnancy. Now, her and her baby were dying because she was stabbed in the stomach.

Oh, she was indignant. She wanted to curse the heavens for the injustice. However, she knew she died because of her gullibility.

Not long after, Allison breathe her last.

Opening her eyes, she saw she was no longer at her murder scene. She wasn't at the hospital, which crushed her hope, neither was she dreaming. She was really dead.

'So, this is the afterlife' she mused, taking a look at her body, if it could be called that. She felt really light. She guessed it was her soul but it wasn't white, it was glowing red.

Where she was a vast barren land which was dark all over and only illuminated by the souls walking in a straight line. All of them were glowing white, which surprised her. The line was leading into a large gate which had two glowing gold statues at each side.

She wasn't in the line and tried to join the everlasting long line by entering through the point she could see. She discovered that the souls were like Zombies which were only moving forward. None paid attention to her and were only interested in going into the gate.

She decides to head to the gate without joining the gate. It took her quite a while but there was no concept of time or space in the underworld gateway. When she got there, there was an old man seated in front of the line and the gate was divided into two by a pillar.

The man had a book in his hand and a transparent orb in front of him. The soul would put their hand on the orb, the man would check the book and direct the soul to either side of the pillar. When she got close to the man, he looked up and smiled at her.

He had a long white beard and was dressed in a white robe. He had wrinkles on his face like a normal old man. When he smiled, it was a kind smile.

{Allison. A pure heart with a special soul} an aged voice drifted into her ears but the man wasn't talking.

"Hun? Was that you?" the man nodded.

"Who are you? Where am I?"

{I am a copy of the god of soul Ariama and this is the gateway to the underworld. Here, I determine if the person is suitable for reincarnation or punishment by their karma} the old man replied.

"Okay. Why am I red?"

{You are a special soul. You possess the partial soul of the Evil god Tembrem. You dying completed your soul}

"So, I'm going to punishment?"

{No, you silly girl. You are going through reincarnation. You see, there is a copy of you that had the other half of the soul. Both of you died at the same time so your soul fused. Unfortunately, you cannot go back to your old world but you can go to your other half's reality}

"Alright, when can I go?"

{Now. Step through the right gate. Good luck in your new life Allison}

"Thanks Ariama" she said with a smile. She went through the left portal and saw nothing except a white light. When she stepped into it, everything went blank again.
