The Test

The first part was the intelligence test. Just like everyone else Liu Yifei was told to go to her separate booth to take the examination.

In front of Liu Yifei was a big widescreen. She calmly faced the screen and placed her identity card in front of the screen. Several rays of green light got emitted from it scanning her identity card as well as her. After a beep, her name and the rest of the information appeared on the top left corner of the screen.

'Welcome, Liu Yifang. Your test begins'

An automated mechanical voice rang over her head and several different patterns appeared on the screen. There was no instruction whatsoever given by anybody on how to begin this test.

Liu Yifei thought hard about it. This was an intelligence test so they would be asking something beyond the textbook knowledge. it was also a kind of psychological test where the instructors will get a hint about the mind of the examinees and will see whether they are suitable for further teachings in their planet Liuyung or not.

Liu Yifei became alert when she faced the screen. If this is a psychological test then it would be too easy for them to find out that she has a twenty-year brain within a twelve-year body. It may become a shock to them and maybe instead of teaching her, they might begin to conduct experiments on her to see how her brain developed so much at such a young age.

She carefully started arranging the patterns into squares and cubes. Then she further went to draw a sun, a house, and a tree beside it. She was sure that this is what a child will draw when they get pencils and crayons for the first time. And here there was no immature child instead all of them were mature twelve years old people.

After she drew her part, she stepped out from her booth and went towards the commonplace where students were allowed to sit.

Soon the wait was over and the results came out. Liu Yifei could not help but get excited about her result. She was happy that she has somehow able to trick the instructors and the examiners.

Everybody s patterns appeared on the large screen before them with their identities. Liu Yifei looked at everybody s patterns and had an urge to laugh out loud. To say that her pattern was mediocre was an understatement. When she looked at the patterns of everyone else and compared it with hers, she felt really dumb. She wanted to be a mediocre and not to shine or show her real mental age but now looking at the thrash picture she wanted to facepalm herself. They had drawn beautiful mechas, natural sceneries, the universe, and many more amazing drawings. And what had she drawn? random quadrilaterals and their three-dimensional shapes plus a tree and a triangular two-dimensional house.

"So much for the disguise!!" she cursed herself in her heart. Looking at her picture she knew that she will get the lowest points. She feared that she will be kicked out of the examination. She wished to retake the examination one more time, but that was not possible.

Liu Yifei sighed and sat on her seat with her head down. She doesn't have any energy nor the mood to look at her points.

"Now your points will be shown below your patterns." The instructor said in a loud voice for everybody to hear.

And after that everybody's points appeared on the screen. Liu Yifei gasped knowing her points. Out of 100, she had received 98 points. the patters that were beautiful to her received points like 77, 82, 35, and so on.

She looked at the instructor's face and then at the student's, everybody was looking at her in amazement, surprise, and envy. She had scored the highest point in the first test.

She waited for some time for the instructors to say something like they have made a mistake in the ranking procedure and change her rank, but even after waiting for full ten minutes, there was no news regarding this. It was then Liu Yifei realized that it was her genuine score. For the first time since her arrival in the Planet Lingyun, she got frightened. This psychological test was indeed scary. Even when she tried to hide her real caliber, it somehow managed to bring it on the surface.

"How is her thrash pattern better than mine." A girl of around her age said pointing at her pattern. She was among the students who had got the lowest ranking and was disqualified for other exams.

"We have our own reasons. But if you want to know, it's all about the basic patterns. First Liu Yifei draw simple 2-D patterns, then 3-D patterns, after she drew a house and the tree consisting of these patterns, indicating that every pattern in this universe is the same and is repetitive." The instructor explained.

It was not that the instructor was fearful of the girl or anything, Liu Yifei's drawing was indeed horrible. He explained it to everyone so that nobody will doubt their ranking procedure and will not blame them for unfairness later.

The girl remained silent after hearing the instructor's response. Even though her drawing looked beautiful on the surface, there was no meaning to it. it was like copying the scenery in front of her on a paper. There was no depth to it.

"Ok everyone, next test is scheduled tomorrow at ten a.m. The qualifying students are requested to go to your allotted dorms according to the map provided to you. And the disqualifying candidates are requested to leave the premises." A voice blared in the speaker giving instructions to everyone.

Liu Yifei and the other candidates left the examination room and went to their respective dorms.

"It's like history is repeating itself." One of the instructors who was present in the examination room said to others.

"Yes, after like a hundred years we have a student who had secured 100 points in his first test and now just after three years we have another student who secured 98 points, close to his points." Instructor 2 said in excitement.

"It is just the beginning, no need to be excited too soon. there are two more tests to take place." Instructor 3 said with a frown.

"But if he secured the highest marks in the other two tests too, it would be like the same hundred years ago. Instructor 2 said.

"I just hope they become good rivals and not enemies." Instructor 1 said in hope.
