The more the monsters were killed near Ben, the more exp would he absorb.

Suddenly, Ben saw two fast moving creatures coming into his direction.

Somehow Ben didn't see them coming. Trying to aim at them, Ben missed his two remaining bullets in the magazin.

What he saw were two black and grey bodies with yellow patterns covering them, blue tips on their tails, red eyes, and small Jackal like ears on their heads.

They were only around two hundreds meter away from the tower. Ben reacted fast.

He took his hand-gun and went to the staircase with two grenades in his pockets.

His heartbeat went up. He concentrated his ears to hear any sounds.

Suddenly he heard a monster cry and then something broke. Ben knew that the monster probably had a great sense of smell and followed his scent.

The monster were afraid of hunting near the stronger monster and so went to a random prey, which seemed to hide inside a tower.

Hearing their fast steps, Ben threw a Flash grenade in the middle of the stairway.

After falling about 3 seconds, a small explosion followed. Ben waited for the light to subside to look at the circling stairway. He saw one of the monster, which seemed to stay still. He heard the sound of weak cries and a body falling the stairway.

Not watting any seconds, Ben shoot with his handgun at the monster.

First the body than the head. The monster felt down and rolled some stairs down.

The second monster seemed to have recovered as Ben heard fast steps.

He didn't have the time to reload his pistol. So Ben rolled down a frag grenade and he ran behind the door. Just as he heard the steps coming very near, an ear-piercing explosion happened near the steps.

Being behing the door, Ben didn't receive any fragments.

After the sound of the explosion disappeared, cries could be heard.

Ben didn't lose any time and reloaded his handgun.

Going back to the stairway, he saw a bleeding dark monster.

´Even monster seem pitiful when they are suffering.´

Without hesitation, Ben shoot the monster with jackal like ears in the head.

Suddenly, Ben felt a pain he had never felt before. It was a different pain than the drugs he had taken. It was like he would tear appart at any moment.

´Level up! x 3´

Ben laid down on the cold floor for a few minutes. He breathed so deep, but fast that he seemed to give birth.

After the first few minutes, the pain slowly subsided. After the pain faided away, Ben put his free points into his stats.

´Add 1 point in strength, stamina and agility.

The 3 remaining points should be kept for now.´

Going back to place, Ben now felt weak like never before. It was hunger.

A hunger so strong that he would feed his stomach with anything possible…

´I feel like starving. No. I am starving. I need to eat.´

As his body improved the muscles, Ben's body had difficulty to maintain its blood glucose level.

After taking a handfull of sweats, Ben fainted for a few seconds.

Waking up, after his glucose level was back to normal, Ben ate everything he had brought with him.

After having felt starvation, he wanted to never starve again like that.

Every improvement of stats naturally took respective nutrients and energy to develop.

Being satisfied, Ben finally came back to his senses. He was in the middle of a battlefield with foreign monsters, which could kill him with just one attack.

He concentrated on his hearing for any coming monster, but it seemed that no monster went after him.

Ben reloaded all his weapons and put some grenades in all his pockets. He watched outside the tower. He couldn't see any movements.

After using the sniper scope, Ben saw a ground litered with corpses, where the presentation took place.

Some small monsters were feasting on the remains.

Not to far away police cars were stationed. The cars were mostly destroyed with no sign of any survivor.

´The few survivor seem to have fled. I need to kill as many monster from the tower with my rifle. After going outside, the rifle will only slow me down!´

Ben felt a slight fatigue from overeating, but he didn't stop searching for new targets.

After killing some lonely monster, Ben had achieved level 9. The last ones were a cow-like creatures with leathery gray skin. They had black stripes along it backs and a head reminiscent of a Hadrosaur. They had a large, two-pronged crest protruding from their heads and a flat, spiked tail.

All the dangerous high-leveled monster seemed to have followed the moving preys, so Ben was left with mostly either non-agressiv monsters or middle-leveled monsters.

Some helicopters flew over the city. Ben didn't look if it was from the military or a crazy reporter. He had to stay as low key as possible.

Just as Ben was preparing to leave the tower, he saw a potential target.

It was a fairly large quadrupedal boar-like monster. It was mainly covered in brown fur and had dark grayish tufts on their heads and backs. Jutting out from their backs are two rows of boney spikes. Their heads feature a pair of small pointy ears, cyan eyes with round pupils, a long pointed snout, and a pair of large tusks that stretch out forward and curve upwards at the tip.

While this was the description of an adventurer. A normal person would just describe it as a gigantic boar with extreme strong spikes.

Ben wasn't awed nor intimidated. Large creature were destructive and could be a great threat.

But in this case it was just a giant boar.

It seemed to be quite fast.

Its only method of attack seemed to be to use its speed and its large tusks to ram targets. Althrough this would be more than enough for any middle or large monster, but it could be easily dodged from any small intelligent living being.

Ben knew that it had to have a strong defence or it would be an easy prey, so he aimed at its cyan eyes.

Just to be sure Ben prepared everything he had to flee if he failed to kill the boar.

Ben shoot at the right eye. Just as he was going to celebrate, the boar began to speed up. Ben was a bit confused. He was sure that he had hit the eye.

Ben tried to give a second shot at the eye, but he stopped after seeing the acceleration of the boar. Its speed had long since reached 80 km/h and it was still speeding up.

Ben knew he had to run. The boar seemed to want to ram the tower.

Ben knew that he would never survive if the tower collapsed and even if he did, the boar or any monster would be able to easily finish him.

He left the rifle, only took his bag and ran for his life. As he was descending the stairway, he knew that he would never come out of the building by foot.

His instinct told him to jump out of the window. It was the second floor and the ground was about 20 meters under him.

Just as he wanted to think about what to do, the building began to tremble.

Ben stopped hesitating, took out his handgun, shoot a few times at the window, while building momentum to jump… and then jumped out of the window.

In the second Ben jumped out, the boar ramed the tower. The tower didn't have any chance against the momentum and the hardness of the boar.

The tower was penetrated by the giant boar and it fell like a tree, who was cutt down.

Ben was still falling as the tower crumbled down.

Seeing the height, Ben threw his bag away.

Just as Ben was going to touch the ground, Ben's concentration was at its peak.

´Live or die? I decide that!´

Ben prepared his body for tucking to roll. He landed on the balls of his feet with his legs being parallel. Bended his legs, which caused his muscles great pain.

He kept sinking deeper into his land until he was crouched, with his legs tucked up into his chest.

He pulled his shoulders forward with his hands out.

Being close to the ground, Ben put his hands out in front of himself and pushed his toes.

Althrough the parkour roll wasn't difficult to do in general, the speed and height of this roll was so high that it was extroardinary.

After rolling a few meter, Ben's body finally stopped.

Not doing any difficult moves, Ben tested if he had any grave injuries or fractured bones. Thankfully, he only had a few abrasions and was covered in dirt.

The feat was amazing as landing about 20 m lower without getting injured and fracturing a bone was a miracle in itself. If the person is young, strong, physically instructed and has a good technique in landing, some would achieve 8 meters, maybe 10 m or more would be possible.

But thanks to Ben's Resilience stat being double so high than any normal man and his genetic intervention, doing a feat like that one couldn't in the least be considered a miracle.

Having safely landed, Ben looked around. The tower had blown up dust, which decreased the visibility.

While the boar couldn't spot Ben, Ben saw the boar looking for him.

Its front limb had crushed the car of his parents.

Somehow Ben was visibly angry at the sight of the trusty car of his parents being destroyed. Not only had it helped him in his capital expenditures and transported the illegal guns and grenades. But it also remembered him of his parents dying.

Suppressing his rage, Ben took his bag, which had landed a few meters away from him, and ran silently away from the tower.

´The dust seem to confuse the boar's senses. I should go away as long as I can. How emberassing! Even a boar has now the guts to mess with me. Now I am as dirty as a pig! I will soon take revenge for everything. You should begin to pray to your boar god...´

After running a few hundred meters, Ben's mind automatically calmed down.

´...If this boar has even just the same level of senses as a normal wild boar, I won't escape him. If I remember correctly a boar has a sense of smell of over 10 km and a sight of around 90 meter. How can I kill it? It could be coming after me any seconds. It has a great defence and even hitting its eyes didn't kill it.

So thats leave me with using poison grenades! At least it should slow down this giant.´

Just as he thought of a solution, he saw the boar beginning to run in his direction. Ben jumped over a fence of a house. He opened his bag and took out a smoke grenade and directly used it.

The boar, which was just a few tens of meter away, was again confused by the appearing smoke.

In the meantime, Ben burgled an empty house.

´Even if I know a way to kill it, the situation doesn't give me a chance to kill it. First problem, Hydrogen sulfide has a powerful smell, so the boar will avoid going into the gas.

Secondly, I don't know how long it needs to breathe inside the gas to die. Humans may collapse after 5 minutes. Serious damage to the eyes in 30 minutes. Death after 30-60 minutes.

To even be threatening, the gas has to be relatively concentrated in the air. So what do I do?´

The concentration of the gas in the air decides the danger and time it take to affect people. To give the concentration of gas in the air the unit ppm is used. 100 ppm is equal to 0,01%.

50–100 ppm leads to eye damage.

At 100–150 ppm the olfactory nerve is paralyzed after a few inhalations, and the sense of smell disappears, often together with awareness of danger.

320–530 ppm leads to pulmonary edema with the possibility of death.

530–1000 ppm causes strong stimulation of the central nervous system and rapid breathing, leading to loss of breathing.

800 ppm is the lethal concentration for 50% of humans for 5 minutes' exposure.

Concentrations over 1000 ppm cause immediate collapse with loss of breathing, even after inhalation of a single breath.

How Ben planned to even reach 0,01% with only 3 hydrogen sulfide grenades without suffering himself of the effect was a mystery for the reader and the writer.
