Last night in Sergy

Having found a good weapon, Ben just wanted to go out and kill some more monster.

Sadly, the night was coming near.

´Wow. It is already so late. I should send a message to comfort them. My lie to do a workshop and than go to the FERMI demonstration was quite useful. They probably are worried sick about my safety. I didn't have time before to send messages. Even thinking about the content of the messages is already stressful.´

The night had always been a dangerous time for adventurer. Monster were better equipped for the night than humans. Now that it was beginning to become dark, Ben finally felt tired. It was not very comforting for Ben to sleep without any insurence against monster.

In normal cases he would have either a companion, who would stay up, or machines, which would warn him off coming monster.

Now he had nothing. While his body was still in great shape, his mind was deadtired.

In such a situation, Ben had two options, option 1 is to stay up with coffein and option 2 is to wait till his very tired, choose a place, which monster would not easily access, sleep and if he doesn't wake up at least he didn't have the time to feel pain or fear.

While both option were stupid, Ben choose to take option 2. The reasons, where that he was persuaded that most monster in this region were not hungry thanks to the cadaver he let on streets, so it was unlikely that they were hunting small prey like him.

The other reason was that staying awake might not be difficult for him, but it would lower his survival chance for the following days.

As he still had a few hours with acceptable visibility, Ben decided to look for remaining monsters.

Before going, Ben sent a message to his family:

„Dear family,

I have seen all the messages and missed calls, but hadn't time till now to write you back. I am in security. While the news about the radiation is false, I don't want to spread informations, which could cause panic.

So I hope it is enough to just say that I am completely healthy and at a safe location.

Sadly, your car is still in Sergy as I was evacuated in a military bus.

I will call you the moment I can go back.

You don't need to come to France. There are many dangers and strict rules, right now!

I will take a taxi to come back home. No need to worry!

Your favorite and only son, Ben Lupus!"

Going outside, Ben walked on the house roofs to better see incoming threats.

He finally sighted some military cars, but they either were already empty or drove away fastly.

´The military should be able to eliminate most monsters till tomorrow. With how many monsters I killed, I probably saved many soldiers' lives.

I mean how many people would the boar have killed if I wasn't here? Hundred? A few hundreds? Maybe even thousand? No probably not so much.

After seeing that even special ammunition can't penetrate his thick skin, they would just order a few jetfighter and bombard it.

I am wondering if anomalies have already been signed on other countries.'

After looking for around 30 minutes, Ben found a monster troting peacefully in a garden.

It had a body structure like a monster Ben had killed before. It has many characteristics of tortoises, such as head shape and a protective shell. Its tail has a developed mace-like structure on the end that is covered with sharp spikes.

Ben saw a resemblance, but he had to admit that this monster seemed a lot more powerfull. Being at 5 m high and 20 or more meters long, it looked like it was an indestructible fortress.

Ben hoped that it would be so slow as it looked like.

Taking his last poison and impact grenade, Ben was somehow sad. He was so relient on the grenades and now he wouldn't be able to use them anymore.

Putting the grenades inside his new short pockets and holding the claw of the mantis with his both hands, Ben was ready.

Thankfully nobody was seing this fight as it looked very strange.

As the monster saw Ben aproaching it became enraged. Monster could feel the approximate amount of energy inside other monster.

Seeing that the individual was small and had a low energie, it wasn't even cautious.

It swung its tail at Ben.

Ben wasn't surprised by its action, but surprised by the speed.

He reacted a tad bit too late and trebuched on the tail, trying to jump over it.

Following that, the monster swung the tail downsward at Ben.

This time Ben acted early and wasn't processed into a liquid.

Ben's concentration spiked and he sprinted to the monster.

Another swing followed and another. Ben jumped on the thick tail and runned on its back. Thinking that he had won, Ben swung his claw at the back.

No effect. The claw didn't even leave a mark.

´Fuck. I should have know that if it is already so fast, its defense would be even stronger. Should I go for the limbs? Eyes?

It didn't seem to have any big weak point.´

As Ben was thinking, the monster rolled its back at the ground.

Ben didn't have a choice and jumped away.

The monster roared at Ben furiously and speed up in his direction.

Ben was a bit scared. Running near a wall, Ben looked for a possible escape from the monster.

Suddenly it swung again its tail at Ben. This time faster and higher than the last time.

Ben didn't see another method than to lay down at the ground.

The swing missed again, but causing the house behind Ben to be destroyed.

As the wall was breaking in, Ben sprinted at a speed faster than Usan Bold away from the house.

Running under the monster, Ben attacked the joints.

Leaving a small mark, which seemed to already heal.

Ben became exaspered. He hated to run from a fight.

The monster realised that Ben was under him and slumped down.

Ben evaded again by a whisker by rolling away.

Than just as Ben wanted to give up. The monster opened its mouth and tried to swallow Ben. Using this rare opportunity, Ben threw the impact grenade inside its mouth and evaded again.

Just as closed its mouth, an explosion took place. The monster collapsed shortly.

Ben knew that such a powerfull monster wouldn't die so easily and also saw it still breathing slowly.

Ben followed with using his last poison grenade at the nose of the lying monster.

Seconds later, the condition of the monster became worse. The breathing became faster. At the same time, Ben attacked relentlessly the belly.

With the thinner skin and better position, Ben succesfully cut throw the belly.

The blood, which covered the claw and the body, made the comical look of Ben into a gruesome and evil look. After attacking for an unknown amount of time, Ben's claw pearced an giant organ and succesfully killed the monster.

Looking up in the sky, Ben saw that the sun had disappeired.

Ben was thankfull that he found that monster. Killing stronger monster with the use of grenades was practically cheating. At least, it wasn't easy to throw a grenade the right moment.

´The military should give me medaille of courage. With that defense even bombs would not have killed this beast easely. I should find a good location to sleep.´

The fight had taken quiet a toll on Ben. His weapon had lost its sharpness and after using his full-strength for a few hours, he was tired.

The difference in Stamina, Agility and Strength meant that Ben couldn't maintain his full-strength for a very long time. That was why it was so important to have a balanced status.

After finding a well-protected place, Ben added his free points and slept very deeply.
