1 Impossible Memories

In an apartment, in midwest of the USA, a young man tosses and turns in his sleep. This is Devin McCannon a white American guy who is 29 years old this year. Flashes of memories in his sleep haunt him, as he sees himself as an ancient asian looking archer who is attacked by brigands who steal a flask of glowing golden liquid from him. His last memory is hearing a woman scream, "Hou Yi!", and then he wakes up.

Smacking his face a couple times, Devin snaps out of it and asks the obvious. "Whoa, was that real? Why do I feel like that was a memory and not a dream?" At that moment Devin looked down in shock as he saw a green jade amulet hanging at his neck. Jumping in surprise at the sudden appearance of this amulet, he grabs onto it and looks at it carefully. He swears that he can almost see a woman curled up in the fetal position floating inside. Then she vanishes.

Puzzled, Devin shakes his head to clear the fuzziness of just waking up and looks again but sees nothing this time. It must just be his imagination then. Getting up out of bed, he heads for the shower, and screams bloody murder when he sees his reflection in the mirror. "Why the hell am I Chinese?!" Yes, Devin is seeing himself in the mirror as a young and very heroic looking Chinese man. No longer a white boy anymore, Devin practically climbs onto his counter to get a closer look. Sword like eyebrows, dark greyish black eyes, and jet black hair down past his shoulders, a regal and perfectly sculpted face and ripped body. Everything has changed. Everything has upgraded, and yet he has a very big problem. "Why am I even Chinese in the first place? Thank God I live alone or people would scream at seeing a stranger in this apartment."

Stroking his chin and yawning, he decided it was time to put that PTO to use. He has stacked about a months worth of PTO over the years at his job at the big old Whirlpool. Now he has the perfect excuse to use it, and figure out a plan on just what the heck he is going to do going forward.

"I could always leave the US for China, it seems with this body comes the knowledge of Mandarin written and spoken. As well as the ancient language of the Huaxia people. After all, from my memories I seem to be a precursor to the Chinese people. A super ancestor if you will." Now, the question is, how does he get into China without any family history, passport or ID of any kind? That was answered moments later by a very supernatural event. Those very things popped out of his jade amulet, and he learned that the jade seemed to be mocking him. His name on his ID was Hou Yi just like in the dream he had, and it said that he was 18 years old.

Doing some digging online to see if there was any historical significance for the name Hou Yi in China, Devin(from now on called Hou Yi), felt gobsmacked. Ancient godly archer, took down 9 suns during prehistoric times with his legendary bow. Husband of one Chang'e a goddess who lives on the moon and who pines after her lost love for the ages on end. In other words, he is the reincarnation of Chang'e lover!

"Mind freaking blown man! I am the long lost, and star crossed lover of an ancient Chinese goddess! This is crazy. Wait. That means that goddesses and gods exist? Then can't I become a god too?! This is nuts! My first goal should be getting to China, and then seeing about somehow contacting Chang'e on the moon. Oh God this is just craziness."

With a goal in mind, and a destination determined, will our young hero be able to reunite with his long lost love Chang'e and break the fate that had separated them for ages past? Find out next time on Rebirth of Hou Yi! Stay tuned folks!
