6 Chapter 6

Ember swallowed, war? What did he mean war? Ember quickly broke out of her state of shock and power walked to keep up with the man. "War?" She meekly asked.

"Yes, according to the prophecy, if you are the one, you will lead this country to greatness. Any man with an idea of the political climate over seas would know this means war." He said. Ember twiddled her thumbs, this couldn't be happening. She couldn't send those one of those girls off to war. They wouldn't even last a second against the forces of the outside world.

Ember looked at the man, "Would you keep quiet about a secret even if it meant letting other people fight for you?" She asked, he seemed wise enough.

"Own up to it." He said, "No one should fight for you, you must defend yourself." He strictly commented.

"Even if the fight led to your death?" Ember asked.

"Even if it led to hell, I would still fight." He muttered, knowing full well she could hear him.

"Oh..." Ember whispered, well now she had gotten the opinion of someone else. She couldn't allow one of those girls to fight for her, they were too young for such a cruel fate.

Ember kept silent as she followed the male silently. She pushed a strand of hair out of her face, she sighed softly. She felt so awkward and horrible for not owning up to it, but what she going to say? "Hi! I'm the Neko in the prophecy and instead of not wasting your time and making these young girls depressed, I decided to hide like the coward I am because I don't want to live like this."? Yes, because that makes her seem like such a good person, not to mention the karma curse that she has is more then a little annoying.

She wants to be rid of it, to just live without it. Have a family, get a good job, grow old with her lover and just live normally. But the closest thing she has ever gotten to normal was going to the Gagdion festival every year and now she would never get to see it again, espically with this whole war being a thing.

"Its Wilbur." The male finally spoke.

"What?" Ember asked, snapped out of her thought process.

"My name is Wilbur." He repeated.

"O-Oh, its nice to meet you Wilbur." Ember whispered.

"Look, if you feel guilty about not owning up to the truth, then just let one of the other girls take responsibility." Wilbur jabbed.

"I want to own up to it, but I can't. I don't want this life, I just the closest thing to normal I can get." Ember said.

"Thats extremely selfish, this will be the closest thing to normal you will get. You're lucky that you've managed to fake it for this long Em." Wilbur said.

"Em? Where did you pull that from?" Ember inquired.

"From your name. duh." Wilbur said with a 'why did you even ask that question' tone.

Ember shurgged, "Can't argue with that logic." She said.

"Stop avoiding the conversation. This will be the closest thing to normal you will ever get. Get over it." Wilbur snapped.

"Maybe you're right, this could be the closest thing to normal I get." Ember said and he smirked at his victory, "If I don't fight back. I don't want to be a pawn for this kingdom. There are so many other people that way more qualified then me. Why don't they send generals to actually do something instead of them sitting around." Ember snapped.

His smirk quickly turned to a frown, "You should be estatic about this. To be the one to finally unite the people of two diffierent countries. Don't you want your name to go down in history?" He rebuked.

"Of course I do, but not this way! Not dying on the battlefield just for my people to just keep on being discrimniated against. We are just as important as all of the humans on this planet, we are no less then you are." Ember said, standing up to Wilbur.

"Neko's aren't discriminated against." Wilbur defended.

"Oh really? How come I don't see you humans walking on the streets and having some people you don't even know - people you don't even care about - yell rude and lewd things at you?Just because of how you look. We don't get fair trials, we don't see the people who've assulated us get in trouble?" Ember shouted

"Its not just Neko's it every other species that isn't human and you all pretend like you're above all of us, but you're not." Ember added, "You are no better then any of us." She growled.

Wilbur took a step back and glared at her, "How dare you speak to me like that! I am you're surprerior." He scolded

"No you are not!" Ember yelled, "Stop acting like it!"

"I am human, you are neko. You are underneath me." Wilbur sneered.

Ember growled and got in his face, "Say it one more time, I dare you." Ember glowered.

"I am human. You are neko. You are underneath me." Wilbur repeated.

Ember raised her fist and punched him straight in the jaw. She recolied, massaging her fist. "Oh my god that felt great! Why haven't I do that sooner?" She asked herself.

Wilbur took a step back, he had been completely unprepared for Ember to have punched him, in the jaw no less. He rubbed his jaw, "That is why." Wilbur pointed out with a smirk as gaurds surronded them.

"Crap." Ember muttered as a gaurd rasied the butt of his weapon and hit her in the head with it, knocking her out instantly.

When Ember woke up, she looked around. She noticed she was back in her room and it was past dark, compared to the early sunrise she had remembered about breakfast. She attempted to get up but found she was strapped to the bed. She wiggled around, confused on why she was restrained but then she remembered. She had jaw punched a human, a trainer. She heard the door creak open and Ember watched as Pele walk in with a piece of chicken.

"Hey, I heard what happened." Pele informed, "Your forehead is bruised and cut by the way."

"Yeah, you heard about how I got my butt owned by humans. Just as every other person who has stood up to them." Ember muttered.

"No, you stood up against someone who was belitting you, something very few Neko's have done. You made a statement, you finally said enough is enough and punched your trainer. Thats more then I could ever do." Pele admired as she fed Ember a piece of chicken.

"You shouldn't be here, you might get in trouble." Ember whispered after eating the chicken.

"I checked, no one is-" She was cut short when both of them picked up on the clicking of heels coming down the hallway.

"Go hide." Ember hissed as she licked around her lips to rid of any resido left from the chicken wing. Pele quickly rang into her closet, closing it just in time as the clicking reached the door and the door was swung open by none other then the queen herself.

"You absolute idoit." The queen started in on her lecture, "You complete infidile. Do you know what you've done?" the queen didn't give Ember the chance to answer as she continued, "You punched your trainer in the jaw after he put you in your place." She said.

Ember clenched her teeth, holding back her rising anger as to not snap at the queen, in fear she might snap her neck.

"You punched him straight in the jaw, you're lucky I'm only doubling your training. He was impressed that you had the guts to even raise your voice at him, let alone punch him." The queen said, "By tomorrow morning, I expect this attitude of yours to have changed. I do not want this sparking rebellion in the other two girls." She muttered and walked out of the room.

Ember growled at the door after it closed and listened as the clicking of heels faded into the distance before she let out a scream of frustration. "I hate this." She shouted with anger.

Pele walked out of the closet meekly, "Ember, calm down. She's right, you are lucky thats all she did. If you weren't possibly part of the prophecy, she would have had you publicly executed." Pele pointed out.

"That doesn't make it any better." Ember muttered, "They all think the same thing, wipe out the other species once they've served their usefulness and until then, wipe out any sign of rebellion in them." Ember growled.

"Now you're just over thinking things. Those pampered idiots couldn't even farm, let alone figure out what seeds were what." Pele pointed out as a joke.

"Well you aren't wrong." Ember laughed. "Wait, wheres Rosco, my dog?" Ember asked and both of their smiles left their faces.
