5 Chapter 5

Ember looked over at the queen with a shocked looked. Ember didn't think that the queen would even want to be near them if she didn't have to, unless this was an announcement. Ember swallowed the piece of sasuage that was in her mouth. Her blood running cold, she felt as if she was a little ant underneath observation. She quickly went stiff as the queen began to speak, as did all the other girls.

"Welcome to your first day of training, you're obviously too young have gone through training or simply was never interested." The queen remarked, "But that changes today, I will not send you into the battlefield to watch you become slaughtered." She said.

Ember could barely hold in her snort. Yeah, but you're doing either way. Ember thought with a malice. She couldn't stand it when people contradicted themselves, if a species, other then humans, was in a prophecy, it was garuenteed death.

"You are going to bring greatness to Fufthloion, I certainly hope that you all find this the greatest honor your species will ever get." The queen smirked. Nice back-handed compliment. Ember thought to herself, but that didn't mean the sting wasn't felt. She was sick and tired of people thinking that other species were just stepping stools to get what they wanted. They were not, she was not. Ember reassured herself.

Ember would not allow herself become a pawn in this rulers game to expand her empire. She was tired of the rude comments and lewd comments thrown her way, and she couldn't imagine the hurt the other two had indured. Neko's matured much faster then humans, by the time Neko's are 13, they've fully developed their body, their mind soon to follow at 16. But just because they had ears and a tail, they were nothing but a stepping stone.

She couldn't imagine what could have gone through her ancestors minds when they found out they wouldn't be living in equal life to humans. She shuddered at the idea of what horrible things they had to endured compared to today. She handed her puppy a piece of sasuage for him to munch on as she began to tune out the queen.

"You're expected to be ready in the next hour. Do not be late." The queen growled and walked out. Ember sighed, she looked at her puppy and ruffled his head.

"Wheres luck when you need it, huh buddy?" She asked Rosco. She looked over at Pele, "So... how's the chicken?" Ember awkwardly asked.

"Its... nice." Pele muttered after taking another bite from her chicken wing.

Ember nodded silently, "So, where are you from? I'm from Magdion." She said.

Hestia piped up, "I'm from Gulion. Its a small farming village, I'm surprised they knew about me." She commented.

"I'm from Dudglion. Its a city, but no where near as big as Magdion." Pele whispered.

"What family did you have?" Ember awkwardly asked, "I had my father, I'm not sure how he's doing now." She whispered.

"My mother and father are waiting for me to come home." Pele said.

"I have three siblings and my parents waiting for me." Hestia grinned, "I look forward to going home, I know I'm not the one in the prophecy."

"Me too." Pele said. Ember kept quiet, she just quietly sipped her drink and continued feeding Rosco some susuage. Ember avoided eye contact with other two. Please don't ask, please don't ask. Ember thought, she picked up another wing and began to eat it, focusing on her plate then the other girls looking at her with a suspicious look.

Ember got up from the table, grabbing two susuages and ran out to get ready for training, or rather to get away from their stares. She couldn't stand the feeling of guilt, knowing that these girls were stuck here just because she wouldn't own up to it being her. But she couldn't, she didn't want to be another ladder step, a little pawn lost to the game, some stepping stone for the humans to use to get what they want.

Even if the queen did figure out it was her, she make sure she didn't follow her orders, she wouldn't let herself become what she hated most. She had watched too many people fall down that path. Ember flopped onto her bed, she held Rosco close to her chest.

"Oh Rosco, what am I going to do?" She inquired to her puppy. Rosco yipped in reply, Ember smiled at him, "You always know what to say." She said.

Ember looked over at her dresser seeing her training clothing already there. She had to give the maid credit, she worked fast. Well, I suppose you have to work fast in a place this big, Ember mused. Ember looked around the room, finally getting a look at it for the first time. It was large, but she already knew that, everything was either white or a light color of something, such as her bed sheets were a light purple compared to the light blue walls.

She focused onto the clothing that was waiting for her, begging for her to put it on. She sighed and stood up, getting undressed and putting the clothing on. Instead of a dress like she had thought, it was pair of pants and a loose shirt. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled, "I've always liked guys clothing more then women's." She commented.

She put her hair back into her pony tail, finally getting around to brushing her tail and ears. Her actually she didn't care about, she never showed much interest in her actual hair, it was just something that was a minor inconvience. Which is why it was short and in a pony tail as much as she could have it be.

She sat down on her bed, brushing her tail and looked at Rosco, "What? Jealous?" She teased and continued to brush her tail as Rosco just rolled his eyes. She grinned as she finished up, "Alright, so, wanna go on a walk?" Ember asked her puppy and he yipped back at her. "Yes it is." She hummed

She opened the door, closing it behind herself and walked him up and down the hallway as to not get lost, she could barely remember where the throne room was any more, let alone a guest bedroom that probably had at least 20 others that looked exactly like it. She looked down at Rosco as he slowed down in front of her door, patiently waiting for her open it up for him.

She opened it up and he went running onto the bed, jumping, trying to get on top of the bed that was obviously way to high for his short legs to reach. She laughed at his attempts to get on top of her bed to lay down. He turned his head and growled at her.

"Alright, alright, I'll help you up." Ember said, putting her hands up defensively. She picked up the small dog and helped him onto the bed, "Don't be such a meanie Rosco." Ember teased.

She stretched and began to make her way to the meeting point. She had actually caught the important information about what they were doing. She didn't really care about listening to the queen's lecture about the prophecy or something. She couldn't care less about what the queen had to say about it. Not to mean that her opinion didn't matter, its just that Ember didn't care about the queens opinion.

Ember rubbed her temples as she continued on her walk there, stressing about all of this was giving her headache all on its own. How was she going to avoid being noticed for her so-called gift? Knowing her luck, or rather lack of it, she would get discovered. Mostly because how do you hide karma? Its literally not possible for you to do so.

Ember walked upon the meeting room with five minutes to spare. She took a deep breath and walked in, seeing the two girls and three people she had never seen before. Their outfits looked well-fitting but flexable, they had a different build compared to rest of the staff here, she narrowed down the possiblities of what they were and put her bet on trainer.

Ember walked up next to the girls who ignored her. Ember looked down at ground with guilt, she should just step up and admit to being the one in the prophecy but she couldn't. She didn't want to make this easy for the queen. If she did, what kind of rebellious teenager would she be?

"Alright, which one is Ember?" The tallest one asked, Ember perked up at the call of her name.

"Thats me." Ember said.

"Come to me, we'll begin your training right now. Follow." The tall one said with a stiff voice. Ember followed him, watching him walk with confidence, she copied the way he stood to seem like she wouldn't go down without a fight. When in reality, she would run from immeidate danger.

"You're gonna be under intense training, this the training the soliders get when preparing for war. Which is what you're gonna be doing." He said and Ember froze in her step. War?
