17 Chapter 17

-UNEDITED-

Ember stormed her way to the dining room and was met by the Queen with a smirk on her face that fueled Ember's rage more, "Lovers quarel?" The Queen teased. Ember growled.

"None of your business, and what do you mean by lover?" Ember asked, raising an eye brow.

"Sit, I'll explain." The Queen said, motioning to the seat second closest to her.

Ember nervously sat down, there was no way that the Queen was being slightly civial.

"I've been thinking, we need to introduce you to the masses." The Queen said, putting a waffle on her plate with a hum, "But there are things we need to work on with you, such as..." The Queen paused and then motioned up and down at Ember's body, "all of this." She smirked.

"Don't get me wrong, anyone would die for your body.. well not all of it. We need to work on your ediquite. Get rid of those animalistic or less ideal characteristics about you." The Queen.

"Oh, so what you're saying is that make me seem more like you." Ember growled.

"Yeah, but I don't understand why you are sounding so angry about it. Any one of your species would give up their soul to be a human, the best." The Queen smirked.

Ember stayed quiet as she ate her meat, she hated the Queen. Ember has never been able to grasp the idea of hurting other people for the fun of it, it seemed so barbaic and in her opinion, hadn't they moved past the stone age?

Ember began to tune out the Queen as she began to go on her triade of humans are better. Yeah, continue to think like that you absolute idiot. Ember thought to herself and pushed her away from the table, "Well this has been an enlightening experience, but I'm afaird I have to go and train. Can't bring greatness to this country with how I am." Ember said, secretly being extremely sarcastic to herself as the Queen smiled.

"Okay, but be back here soon enough to do your outfit fitting for the parade we're having in the chosen ones honor!" The Queen said with a grin as Ember nodded and walked out, shutting the door behind her. She rolled her eyes once out of the room, Ember walked towards the training room. She didn't really want to deal with Wilbur, so she would do this by herself this time, she didn't care if something bad happened, just means that it'll spare her from more training.

Ember opened the door and entered room and looked at the adult like jungle gym. Ember smirked silently to herself and climbed up to the bridge and looked at the swinging bridge, she couldn't be expected to climb, if she didn't become better at balancing on difficult things. Ember took a step on the bridge was almost immediately put off her balance. She grabbed onto the side and let out a sigh of relief, she stood up and got used to the swinging and began to slowly make her way across the bridge.

Ember made her across the bridge, almost being put of balance several times but she kept focused on making across as she closed in on the next tree that would lead to more difficult bridge as Ember looked at the more violently swining bridge. Ember breathed slowly to calm her breathing as she reatched the tree and hugged it like it her best friend and hissed at the bridge she had just beat.

She looked at the bridge that was swinging violently and she stepped onto the bridge with nervousness and was imediately thrown off and into the foam pit and Ember glared at the bridge that had just thrown her off without mercy. She was not going to be bested by a swinging bridge. Ember growled and moved her way out of the foam pit and back onto the jungle gym and ran across the bridge she had finished before without a care and focused on getting to the second bridge.

"You're going down bridge." Ember snapped and focused on the more violent bridge that had just thrown her off without a second thought. Though, it really couldn't think so it wasn't its fault but still, it was going down. Ember growled as she hugged the side with a smirk. She slowly made her way across the bridge, almost being flung off two more times before she reached the end of it. She heard clapping from benathe her and she sighed. Great, Wilbur was here.

"You did great, but my question is, is why you are doing this, instead of your rock climbing?" Wilbur asked.

"You can't expect me to climb without any balance, now can you?" Ember retorted.

"Well, I can't fight with that logic, but get out of here, the janitors are currently waiting for you to leave so they can clean this place." Wilbur said, pointing at the 4 people standing at the entrance with an annoyed look on their face.

"Opps... sorry." Ember laughed nervously and jumped down and ran out after climbing out of the foam pit. She made her way to her room and swallowed nervously. She knew she had over reacted to the arguement, he was right. Her anger did often get out of control, but that didn't call for what he said. Ember turned the knob and opened the door and peeked into the room and found Atherton standing in front of the window outside.

"Can I come back inside?" He asked. "I have something you say to you."

"Yeah, come back inside, I have something to say as well." Ember said and Atherton climbed his way back inside, shutting the window afterwards.

"Okay, I'll go first, I said some really nasty things and I'm sorry about that, I shouldn't have been insensitive to your feelings and how you are dealing with things. You're right, I have been extremely selfish, but I never learned better but I'm gonna try to learn better. I can't promise immediate results, but I'll try." Atherton said and Ember was stunned. Her mouth gapped like a fish out of water before she gathered her thoughts.

"I haven't been all that better Atherton. I blew up at you for stress you never put me under, yeah it hurts to know that what I knew is gone and was fake, but I shouldn't have reacted so violently. I don't have proper control on my anger and thats my fault. I should have known that you wouldn't have been against me joining the resistance, but I didn't want you getting involved in it." Ember said.

"I care too much about you for you to get hurt after I encouraged you to join. It sounds dumb to say that after what I've done to you, what you'vew done to me, and what we've both said to each other, but I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I was the reason you got hurt." Ember said, tears welling up in her eyes.

"You always were a cry baby." Atherton laughed and hugged her, "I'm not gonna get hurt, and as far as I'm concerned, I did the most damage. But lets just forgive each other." He said.

"Why did you leave out of the forget part?" Ember asked.

"Because if you don't remember your mistakes, then you tend to repeat them." Atherton said and Ember hugged him tightly back.

"I forgive you Atherton." She whispered to him, a shaking smile spreading across her cheeks as she felt a lot of anger lift from her chest.

Atherton felt tears rolling down his cheeks as he spoke, "I accept your apology and I forgive you." He said and let go of her, "Look, you've even got me crying. Let me see that smile Em'."

Ember gave a big smile and Atherton smiled, "Thats better, you keep that smile on cause it looks so much better then a smile." He said and ruffled her hair, "Does that mean I don't have to avoid the window?" He asked meekly.

"Sure, for now, but no sleeping on my bed, even in puppy form." Ember said firmly.

"Alright, fair enough." Atherton admitted, "At least I don't have to fear the window too much any more." He laughed.

Ember laughed a little too. She walked to the bathroom and shut the door and sat down on the floor and thought to herself. She felt werid about him, she wanted to trust him, she really did. But there was this little part of her that insisted that he would hurt her, but she didn't want to listen to it. He was a great person, maybe not the best morals a person could have, but who could when they were pratically disowned at a young age?

Ember bit her lip as she thought about it, she trusted him, but not as much as she did when he was a puppy. It was so weird to think about it, the idea of this person who had known you for years and had gotten a grasp on your personality while you didn't have a clue about them. It felt one-sided. As if he knew everything about her while he was a complete stranger. You could only know someone so well from body language.

Ember felt like she had been cheated from knowing him, but she was going to fix it. As soon as she got to her current goal, saving the Fisguoion from mass genocide and getting into the resistance while keeping the Queen's guard down enough for not to be expecting an attack. She was already getting overly stressed by it all. It was all very good reasons to be stressed, but when she got stressed, she tended to get very sloppy at what she was doing. It was a very inconvient thing but it was something she suffered from nonetheless.

Ember stood up as she looked at herself in the mirror, she looked like she hadn't slept in 2 years and had been bruatily ran over by a berion two times. She looked at her reflection with pity, she had never been one for caring about her looks but she just looked really pitiful at the moment. She brushed her hair and walked out and there stood her maid.

"Ma'am, the Queen requests you get dressed in this and go to the throne room for a one on one training session on proper ediqute in an open berion." The maid said stiffly and walked out and Ember sighed.

Right, the Queen was still a thing that she needed to distract from the saving of Fisguoion. "Alright, lets do this." Ember muttered to herself as she went back into the bathroom to get dressed for the training.
