15 Chapter 15

-UNEDITED-

Ember shut the door behind her and felt her tears fill up in her eyes. She shook her head rammed her fist into wall and cried out in pain as it hit the hard stone. Her ears lowered and she growled at the wall, even though it did nothing to her. Ember let down her hair down from the ribbon and messed it up with rigor. She huffed and puffed heavily, her chestnut brown hair fell in her face and she didn't bother fixing. She just wanted to scream as loud as she could. To scream so loud that Magdion could hear her. She kicked the door and silently screamed with anger. Why did she have to be like this?

Why was she throwing a fit right now? Ember shook her head and ripped apart her dress with anger. The forest green fabric ripping easily from its hold as Ember continued to rage. Tears fell quickly from her eyes as she fell onto the floor on her knees, the green fabric all of the floor and her fancy dress in shambles. If it wasn't for the fact that she didn't want to break the things keeping her clean, she would tear apart her bathroom as well.

Ember gripped her dress with anger as tears fell on her balled up fists and screamed loudly, as all of her anger, sadness and distaste for everything at the moment. She wiped away her tears and changed into her night clothes and walked out of the bathroom with Atherton looking at her weirdly as she walked out of the room. She ran around the palace, looking for an open area. She came across a huge set of glass doors that through its patterns in the glass you could make out a garden. Ember jumped in joy and ran out there, pushing the heavy and huge doors out of her way as she walked into the garden and looked around. The chriping of crickets stopping as she walked by them and the hooting of owls filling her ears. The starry night shining brightly as the wax moon shone above her.

She suddenly heard russling behind her and she turned around quick enough to catch a glimpse of a black figure running away from her and Ember quickly ran after the figure. It was fast, but not fast enough to keep away from Ember and just as she reatched around and grab the person by the hoodie the stranger jumped out of the way, high and quickly, landing on a window seal and Ember growled as she watched the mysterious person jump quickly up to the roof. Ember growled, two can play that games.

Sure, Neko's couldn't jump as high as that person, but she would catch up. Ember began to jumping from place, almost falling twice as she climbed on the roof as she watched the figure turn around after noticing the sound of a hand slapping onto the roof. Ember could feel the smirk coming from them, which only made her more determined to catch this stranger.

Ember pulled herself up as they took of once more, knowing that this jump could kill anyone, different species or not. Ember ran after them with vigor as they jumped from roof top to roof top. Ember's ears picking up on the strangers hard breathing and fast heart panting. All Ember had to do was keep up this up for a little while longer, but she could already feel the numbness reaching her legs from all the sudden excersie.

"Stop!" Ember demanded.

The figure did not listen and continued to run away before it accidentally tripped on a small piece of roof that was slightly higher then the others and Ember smirked. 'Got ya now.' Ember proudly thought to herself and pinned the person down as they came out of shock.

"Tell me who you are! Are you here to hurt me?" Ember growled.

"I'm pretty sure you're not the Queen." The person growled. Ember paused, that voice was female, even if they attempted to lower it.

"What business do you have with her." Ember growled.

"None of your business, besides, you should be thanking me, I'm helping take down this useless teef." The person growled.

Ember decided was enough was enough, "Whats your name?" Ember asked, pinning the persons head against the cold metal.

"I'm not telling you! Why are you even here? Are you teaming with the Queen?" The person sneered.

"Of course not! I'm not here by my own volution." Ember explained.

"Then we're on the same team. Do you want to join us?" They asked.

"Not until I know your name and what you look like." Ember growled.

"Alright, alright." The person said, 'Just let me up."

"Don't run, if you do, I will rip you shreds and feed you to my dog." Ember snapped.

"Alright, I'll keep that in mind." The person muttered as Ember got off of her.

The girl- no woman - took off her hood and exposed herself, a blond haired Nighean or bunny-person. They had chocolate like brown eyes and a face mask over her mouth. "My names Astarte, I'm with the resistance, we're small, but we are getting more and more members by the day." Astarte explained.

Ember was in complete shock, she was under the impression that the Nigheans were completely wiped out, "Are... are you the last of your species?" Ember asked.

"No, they thought they had rid us from the world, but there is a couple hundred left of us. But compared to the good 2 million there was to begin with, they were practically successful." Astarte explained.

"Thats horrible, I thought you were all wiped out." Ember said, "Though, I guess thats the point."

"It is, there other species that you're probably under the assumption that are extinct due to the genocide caused by the humans. Such as the Padgions, they still exist. Its just that they all are in hiding, repopulating and gathering their forces before we strike on the rulers." Astarte said.

"Wow, I can't believe it... does that mean the Sogions are still in exsinance?" Ember asked. They had been one of the first ones targetted by the power hungry humans. They were a beautiful species with the ability to fly. They were often compared to angels in their looks. A pair of huge wings and blonde being the main hair color between them.

"Yes, well, kind of." Astarte began, "Theres only four left. The others died quickly from the dieases in the outside world. The four left are either in complete hiding or are too old to carry on the species. Its a horrible sight really." Astarte whispered.

"Right now, my job is to see if they are about to start another genocide. We need to save as many people from the species to make sure they live to carry on. We hate to resort to such low tatics, but by ourselves, even the Nigheans and Neko's together wouldn't be able to stop the shear size of the humans." Astarte muttered, "Now, do you wish to join? Be our eyes on the inside?" Astarte asked.

Ember pasued, they supported everything she did, but what was she supposed to say? 'Oh yeah I'll be but I'm also a pawn to the Queen to take over the other country and basically commit mass genocide over there.'? Yeah, that wouldn't fly, but it wasn't like it wasn't going to be secret for long. Considering the look on the Queens face, there might be two weeks at most before she starts to parade her around.

"I will, but theres... complications." Ember muttered.

"Like what?" Astarte questioned

"I'm... Well theres no easy way to say this." Ember began, "I'm wrapped up in a prophecy that's supposed to bring great things to this country. More specifically the humans. I'd be helping take over the rival country and more then likely, commiting mass genocide." Ember said.

Astarte took a step back, "So.. you're just gonna let it happen?" She asked.

"Of course not. I'll try to fight back but whats a lone Neko going to do? If it wasn't for the fact I was the," Ember did air quotes, " 'Chosen One', she'd have my head already." Ember muttered.

"Oh, well, I'm gonna have to go over this with the board." Astarte muttered. "I'm sorry about that."

"Oh... is there anything I can do while I'm on hold?" Ember joked.

"Yeah, actually, keep an eye on her. Listen in on conversations in the palace, this is the third time this year alone I've had to sneak in and the first time in six years a resistance member has been caught. Luckily not by someone against our cause." Astarte laughed.

"Yeah, sorry about the chase, but you weren't slowing down." Ember said.

"Well, it was fun fearing for my life." Astarte said, "So... do you know how to get down?" She asked.

"I unforunately don't." Ember said, "Unless you can jump down about 25 feet." Ember said

"I'm a Nighean, of course I can." Astarte said, rolling her eyes.

"Alright, follow me." Ember said, taking off towards the small balchony around her room, of course she couldn't go out of it, it was just there for looks, but she could always just have Atherton open the window for her and Astarte.

They both took off across the metal roof, neither of them making all that much noise and Ember came to a halt, "Ready?" She asked.

"Yeah, lets do this." Astarte did and jumped onto the balchony as Ember sent a quick prayer that her legs didn't break or buckle from the jump. It thankfully didn't, it only sent a quick numbness tingle. Ember banged on the window and the curtain was quickly opened and when he saw Ember he opened the window and pulled them in.

"Okay, so mind telling me whats going on?" Atherton asked.

"Not right now," Ember said, before Astarte answered.

"Well, thanks for getting me in I guess." Astarte said and put up her hoodie and ran out with Ember shutting the door after her.

"So, answer?" Atherton asked.

"I said, not right now." Ember growled and walked over to her bed, "I'm going to bed, I just chased after her and my adreline is too high for this crap." Ember muttered as she went onto her bed and brought the blanket over her bed as she snuggled into her bed and fell asleep.
