Shadow Beetle

The night came in the blink of an eye, apparently, kaili liked being held by Sebastian's hands, despite being able to float and move anywhere, she wouldn't move away from him.

Its texture was a little soft but viscous, pleasant to the touch, Sebastian assimilated it with being a slime, however he knew well that she was not one; she was an intelligent creature and understood what others were saying, however she lacked speech, she could not communicate with others.

"Sebastian, why do you carry Kaili and not me?"Aurora said with a small pout in her mouth.

"sigh... I already told you, Aurora, Kaili is light and small, your weight would make my back break hahahaha" Sebastian replied with a mocking voice.

"You! Are you calling me fat!?".

"No no no, hehehe, how would I be able to call my cute girl fat?"Sebastian gently stroked Aurora's head.

"I don't know why, but I feel like I'm being cheated on" Aurora replied with narrowed eyes as she enjoyed his touch.

"Well, that was enough. Yawn... It's time to go to sleep, it's going to be a long day tomorrow."

"But Sebastian, where will Kaili sleep?".

"Kaili? Of course she will sleep with us, there is enough space on the bed and we don't have dungeon coins to create a complete room, besides she is small and takes up little space."

"Fine, but I want to sleep hugging her" Aurora replied.

"Silly girl, Kaili is not a toy or a doll, you must respect her" Sebastian protested wisely.

"yes yes yes, I heard, now give me kaili" Aurora snatched Kaili from her arms and decided to lie down on the bed while covering herself with a blanket.

Kaili was lying comfortably in Aurora's arms, apparently enjoying the warmth generated by Sebastian and Aurora.

"damn traitor kaili" Sebastian looked towards the pair who had already settled down for sleep, yawning, he decided to put the matter behind him and prepare for the battle what would take place the next day.

At dawn, Sebastian, Aurora and Kaili, had breakfast, showered and went out in search of enemies to win dungeon coins.

They walked for two hours, while Kaili lay floating near Aurora's shoulder, Sebastian looked everywhere, always alert of any enemy that might ambush them. Unlike Sebastian, Aurora was humming a completely carefree song of the surroundings, she walked with a confidence that was not typical of a 10-year-old girl hunting monsters in a forest.

"Stop" Sebastian raised his hand and whispered softly alerting Aurora to be on guard. Aurora and Kaili stopped.

"What's the matter, Sebastian?"he asked

"Look at that place" Aurora followed with her gaze to where Sebastian was pointing.

It was a cave, the entrance to the cave was hidden behind a dense curtain of twisted vines, as if nature itself was trying to keep its secret, but that was not the problem, three beetles were entering the cave, they were holding large pieces of stones on their backs.

Sebastian knew this kind of beasts, they were Shadow beetles. The Shadow Beetle has a robust and solid body, similar to that of a common beetle, but with a slightly larger size, they measure about 30 centimeters. Its exoskeleton, of a deep and shiny black color, reflects light in a subtle way, giving it a mysterious appearance. As it moves, its shell emits a soft, faint glow, as if it were enveloped in an aura of shadows.

The wings of the Shadow Beetle, hidden under its shell, are translucent and have an enigmatic pattern of black streaks that resemble the shadows of the branches of a tree. These wings allow it to fly quietly and stealthily, which makes it an efficient predator when looking for small prey.

Its strong and agile legs are equipped with curved and sharp claws that allow it to cling to surfaces and even climb with ease. Its antennae, longer and thinner than those of a common beetle, move steadily and slowly, exploring the environment and detecting subtle vibrations and smells around it.

"it looks like there is a Shadow beetles nest inside that cave" Sebastian said as he looked intently towards the cave entrance.

"Yes, it seems that there are many of them inside the cave, what do you think Sebastian, let's go inside to take a look? We need dungeon coins and those beetles don't seem to be that strong" Aurora mentioned the reasons why it would be good to fight the hive.

"hm... Well, let's go inside, but if the situation becomes dangerous, then we must retreat and run, remember that we are not facing just one enemy, but an entire hive, there may be hundreds of them inside the cave," Sebastian said solemnly.

Thus, Aurora, kaili and Sebastian made the decision to enter the cave and face the beetles, after all, they had a strong need for dungeon coins.
