Making Exceptions

When the crowd heard this they could no longer stay quiet. One had to know that most of the people trying to take this year's assessment were only level 5. The level of genius in Bullying City for the top clans was already 15 years and level 7. Now the cut off was almost the same.

How could the lower clans have a chance when their resources were even less. It was just too hard to nurture geniuses at that level. Refusing to accept such a thing someone in the crowd voiced their complaint. "What kind of joke is this? Shouldn't you give us a better reason than this? Who would continue to join your sect? Do you want to void all the sign ups?"

Qin Ping, the outer door elder looked around neutrally. The decision to change the testing this year was the Sect Leader's, did they really think a mere outer door elder would have any say on whether to keep the assessment the same or not after the Sect Leader made a decision.

He didn't plan on humoring these people any longer. "QUIET! This decision is final and will not change. As for the sign-ups earlier, we the Big Bully sect is fair. We have also decided to make two exceptions this year by giving the people who signed up for the assessment a choice."

"The first choice will be to apply for an exception to the rules and join the assessment. Of those who make this choice, to qualify in joining Big Bully sect you will have to be in the top 5. As for the rest who make this choice and takes the testing, if you fail to make it in the top 5 don't bother coming back to next year's assessment because your entry in the sect will be void in this lifetime."

"The second choice will be to apply for being an assistant of the sect. If you make this choice you will still need to participant in the assessment and pass to join the sect. However, those who make it in the top 5 will have the chance to join the sect as a regular disciple." Qin Ping finished with a smile on the inside.

He had to give it to the higher-ups. With the new change, they will be able to hit two birds with one stone. As for the people being unable to accept it, this didn't matter to him or the sect. All were really well from his point of view.

The people of Bullying City was in a panic right now. The changes decided about the assessment was too much and nothing good about it. With choices like these who could keep their calm with such a fate. Jie Jun just so happened to be one of the few keeping their calm.

He could see the scheme the sect was playing at. By giving the sign ups a choice or not to be an assistant, one would be under the illusion this is what they decided and wouldn't feel as much negative toward the sect as to the alternative of them joining the sect and then being told to work as servants.

Then was the first choice where as long as a person was gifted enough, exceptions can always be made, even breaking the sect rules is no problem. On the other hand, the sect didn't need people who didn't follow rules and took the words of the sect as a joke without the talent to compensate.

Simply put, the sect needed workers to do the jobs piling up and they wanted loyal disciples. If they couldn't even listen to the sect's rules during the assessment, how could they follow the sect's rules when inside the sect?

"Alright, I want the people making a choice to line up in two single-file lines. Choice one will be on the left and choice two will be on the right. Once your proof of identification has been taken, you can line up over there while we first examine the ones who qualify for the assessment this year." Qin Ping said as he pointed to a direction opposite of the qualifiers.

Jie Jun waited for a moment, taking note of the situation and what other people were deciding on the most. With a few taps on the forehead from Black Snow who came along since the beginning but chose to rest on his head, he headed for the first choice line.

Regardless of the reasons why the Big Bully sect decided to recruit servants, he had no plans on being one. Even if he could become a regular disciple after some time, he still would not choose to be a servant because his nature wouldn't be able to sit well after submitting the first time.

Once he submitted the first time, then there would sure to be a next, time. Standing in line, he watched as the supervisors got everything up and running to proceed with the first qualifier to take the test. Once ready, they called the first one over.

The young man to walk over to the stage, set up to check for potential rates, was tall and lean. If one had to describe the build of the young man, it was a swimmer's build. "Before you begin, let me explain how this works." Qin Ping instructed.

"Wow! isn't that Ye Yuan, the youngest son from the Mayor House?"

"Are you talking about the Ye Yuan who's older brother Ye Fei manage to become the direct disciple of the Grand Elder of the Big Bully sect?"

"Yeah! I also heard he is one of the top ten geniuses below the age of 16 years old who have yet to join the Big Bully sect."

"It would be great if he looked my way! I would die happy with no regrets!" An excited young lady shouted.

Hearing the talks of the crowd watching the entrance assessment, Jie Jun couldn't help but recall the information his sister told him about the top ten geniuses. They were a group of young talents who manage to level up to at least level 7 and had yet to join the Big Bully sect. Besides this Ye Yuan, Jie Zhengfeng had also recently become apart of this group.

Qin Ping spoke once more, "Set up here on the stage is five potential Monument Orbs that has been with the sect since its founder. What you need to do is place your hand on the orb and channel your spirit energy. The more energy you use, the more accurate the results will be."

"To get the hang of it, we will allow two attempts with the best results being your final result for this part of the assessment. The grading is ten to one on how likely it is for the Max Level hidden talent, to appear during the next 20 level ups." Qin Ping continued.

"A grade 10 is 100% chance that those leveling up in the next 20 levels will gain the Max Level talent. A grade 9 is 90%, a grade 8 is 80% and so on. You only need to have a grade 6 or lower to pass this portion of the assessment." Qin Ping finally finished.

This information stirred the crowd as they started to gossip again. "Ye Yuan is a rare genius in Bullying City so I think he will get a grade 3 or grade 2."

"Please, you're looking down on my homeboy here! He will get nothing less than a grade one I tell you! A grade one!" said a fanatic friend of Ye Yuan's.

Qin Ping heard most of the crowd bragging about their chances and the chances of Ye Yuan so much that he could do nothing but shake his head inwardly. A small place like Bullying City, it would already be very good if the disciple could get a grade 4. Grade 3 or lower was a world class genius.

Jie Jun also thought along these lines as he watched four more other people go up next to the other potential checking orbs. One of the youths placed his hand on the orb and used his spirit energy. Three seconds later as if waiting to verify the energy it got, a number popped up on top of the monument's end.

A grade 10 potential rating. Despair could be seen on that youth's face as he looked up to the number up top his monument. "Child calm down and try again. Didn't you hear what Elder Qin said earlier? You have two attempts with the better one being your final rating." Said a supervisor.

"Thank you Elder for the reminder." The panicking youth replied back. With that, he tried again as the others gave their own tries. This time the youth managed a grade 7 as disappoint filled him. "Grade 7 fail! Please step down for the next examinee."

"Look, Ye Yuan's grade is about to show."

Ye Yuan watched the top end of the monument. The end result was a grade 8 for the first attempt. "What how can this be? Even a genius like Ye Yuan could only get a grade 8 potential rating. Isn't this first part of the assessment too hard." someone cried out.

Ye Yuan, on the other hand, was also panicking. With his talent, he thought he would breeze through this entire entrance assessment. Yet, just in the first part, he was having trouble. He was then reminded by one of the supervisors to try once more.

He nodded and then gave another attempt. Three seconds later the grade number 5 popped up. "Very good, you pass the first part. Next!"

Jie Jun had to wonder just how did these potential checking orbs work and what would his grade be. In the end, his turn to give proof of his identification came up. He could only accept that, when it was his turn to test his potential, he would know then.
