Escaping Death

Hearing the noise in back with screaming, Jie Jun knew that the group leader was dead. To die so fast on him was not a good thing. Time was what he needed the most to run as far as he can, for what he planned on doing. He resisted the urge to look back and check his distance from the Hot Lion.

His goal would be to go toward more clustered trees and slow down its movability. He could only last this long because of his level ups. Each body stat point had gone to stamina and perception.

During each level up he had also received a hidden talent each.

Of these hidden talents, one was the Phys Res Body which gave two stat points. For the other one, it was Agi Body in which it did the same too. With the Stat Redo and Double Stats Up abilities, what he ended up getting was 4 points in each stat.

What dissatisfied him right now was that the Sprint skill was a short range movement skill and it consumed a lot of stamina. As he felt he was pulling some distance, there was a hot heat that started to cause him to sweat. Taking a look back, he saw nothing but flames coming his way.

Jie Jun hurriedly moved to the side to avoid the flames as he used another Sprint to try to make up the distance lost. But how could the Hot Lion let this chance go? Not to mention that Jie Jun had to slow down to dodge, even if he didn't, the Hot Lion was still faster than him.

The Hot Lion took a leaping attack it favors, to close the distance and kill Jie Jun. Fortunately, Jie Jun was by a tree at this moment and used a spring jump on the tree followed by using an attack with his spear on the other side of the next tree in front.

This action was as if, Jie Jun launched himself from something, and shot forward at faster speeds. Seeing how well this worked out, he started to hit the trees to continue his momentum. When it felt like he would begin falling, he would spring jump off another tree to keep afloat.

If seen by others, one would see him hitting trees as he passed by them in the air. Then he would jump back up to repeat this. The Hot Lion on the other, roared like it received a grave injust for missing.

If said it was fast before it was blazing through the forest trees now, as the ground lit up in flames. With the ability Fire Rush, it improved its speed for long distance running. Showing just how much it wished to kill Jie Jun.

Jie Jun couldn't believe how much faster it was to use the trees instead of running on the ground. With this, he might be able to find a stronger beast to kill or stall it. What he hoped for was a beast equal to it.

If the wild beast happened to be stronger, than the Hot Lion, there would be a chance it would kill the Hot Lion to fast and chase him. If they were equal, the fight between them would last longer and be giving him time to run away.

Then he felt a few trees give away and the sound of loud bangs and crunches. Below was the Hot Lion fast on his trail knocking down trees and no longer avoiding them. Roars unceasing coming from its mouth as the ground burned where it passed.

It was trying so hard that it would shoot fire every jump it took to have flames burn him at the same height. Jie Jun could sense the close calls. It was to the point, that, his speed was what put the fire out when it caught an inch of his clothes.

'Pressure!' A vast amount of pressure is what he was feeling. To have something hate you and want to kill you so much while being a lot stronger was not a good feeling.

"I will definitely, kill you if I survive." Jie Jun could not help but tell the wild beast coldly.

During this chase, it was the first time Jie Jun had experienced, the willingness to kill ruthlessly.

The beasts he killed before were the same to him as, when someone goes to catch fish to eat. He held no hate or feelings for it. The Hot Lion was different. There was a great hatred for it now. It would be understandable if he had something to offer it, like a death orb but the Hot Lion wanted to kill him because it can.

The Hot Lion was injured, yet would not let him go to heal itself first. With such a strong hatred and killing intent directed at him, over and over again, it was natural for the feelings to become mutual. He didn't know how far he traveled, but he had to wonder where was the wild beasts?

As if, it could understand, what Jie Jun spoke, its eyes grew colder. Finally learning how to enhance its jumping power with the trees, it bolted toward Jie Jun swiftly. The speed was so fast it had no time to prepare a proper attack. Jie Jun, however, was still backhanded.

Jie Jun was blasted out of the trees after the hit, to his back. While rolling on the ground, he coughed up, a mouthful of blood nearby.

Was this the end? Where are the beasts? Didn't the Wild Forest have beasts higher than level 10? All kinds of questions flew through Jie Jun's mind. As he looked toward the Hot Lion, its eyes now held glee? Was he seeing things? Wasn't it hatred?

Thump! Thump!

A wild beast ran toward the Hot Lion and in its rush almost killing Jie Jun. It's foot stomping only a few inches beside his head in its passing. This wild beast was like a gorilla as it punched the Hot Lion. Judging from its strength, it was a G3-rank beast.

For the wild beast to rush here on its own, it must have a territory kind of mindset. With the Hot Lion crossing some unknown line, it was angered. Not surprising, he wasn't spared a glance. After all, he could be killed at any time compared to their strengths.

Recovering he watched the fight somewhat. Then he started to frown as he could see it. Even though it was injured and still wasn't a ranked body, it seemed stronger. Seeing this, he didn't bother trying to reap benefits after mutual killings. Instead, he headed back to where he came.

The first time he met the group of five, they had given him the impression they got some treasure. Even the weapons they had would glow. He should be able to get something from this loss before leaving the Wild Forest. As for the Hot Lion, its days were numbered once he got stronger.

His travel back was uneventful, there were no beasts that came and attacked. Even so, he didn't plan to waste a lot of time because giving the Hot Lion's personality, it would chase him again after killing the G3-ranked wild beast.

Soon he could see the mess left behind by the Hot Lion's rage. Walking past a few dead beasts, some even had death orbs when checked by the Identify skill. He began collecting everything as fast as possible.

With the death orbs gathered in a small pile, he made his way to the dead group leader. Earlier, he saw that this guy had some type of storage bag. The way he pulled out his sword, reminded him of an item bag one would have in most games.

The weapons he saw used, on the other hand, was probably something like a rare weapon or game equipment used to enhance stats.

Searching around, he found a small bag tied to the group leader's waist. The bag size was the size of half an adult fist and its color was black with no light reflecting off it. Besides the color, it looked no different than a money pouch with its top tied shut.

Finally, once he figured out how to use it, he quickened his pace in grabbing everything there was to grab. The item he got was called Inventory Bag. Just like his first thought, it did like the inventories did in games, in his past life. The Inventory Bag could storage items, larger than itself but it had a room capacity.

Once he had everything, he saw that the group leader had dropped a death orb. This was a death orb from a human.

Jie Jun didn't know how to feel at this moment. Should he dig through his body for it? Or should he leave it? After all, he hasn't killed or seen a dead body in person before until now. It was already a test to ransack the bodies. Did he need to start dissecting humans?

Frowning he made his decision, this was the world he lived in now. In the past, it might be weird and only for the insane to do, but this world was different. Leaving the death orb which might benefit him and help protect his own life depending on what it did, it would be foolish to leave behind something that could save his life in the future.

Jie Jun placed the Death orb in his Inventory Bag, before leaving the Wild Forest altogether. On his way out, he ran into a few wild beasts but he didn't kill them unless he had too. Even then, he didn't waste any time on grabbing orbs if it had one because he could feel a lingering dread behind him.

He didn't see the Hot Lion, but he knew that it was he senses letting him know. He was being chased by the Hot Lion. By no means had it given up on him. Hopefully, it would not chase him out of the Wild Forest.

If it still gave chase, he would become a dead man.

It took him two days to make it back to the Jie Clan estate. The Hot Lion thankfully didn't chase pass the Wild Forest. Though he didn't greet anybody yet, he would soon apologize to his parents for the worries he probably caused.

Before he left, he was still considered the same weak Third Young Master that could not endure long periods of exertion. He could imagine how his mother would react just by what happened before. The old Jie Jun had even died from exertion.

He would take a rest then make his way to everybody else. He also had no plans to ever forget the hatred between him and the Hot Lion.

So what if it was heavens gift to earth? He would still slay it sooner or later. With a strength of overwhelming power just like it had done to him. He would like to see just how far it would plan to run at that time.

The next day after night had passed, Jie Jun could be seen holding his inventory bag in hand. The gains this time was plenty. He didn't get to check in details of what the treasure they had to have managed to get, but he knew it was good.

Their background alone would let them focus only on rare treasures. If it was someone from Bullying City any ordinary treasure would do. He still wondered where they were from but only hoped the deaths wouldn't be pended as his fault. He had no plans to get the Jie Clan annihilated over a misunderstanding.

Jie Jun opened the Inventory Bag and took out an item. It was a weapon, to be exact, it was a spear weapon like what he was using now. The spear had a light glow to it. No matter how much he saw it, it kept giving him the impression of game equipment.

Using the Identify skill, he read the details on it.

Since someone asked, I will explain the cheat. Only used stats or truly existing stats can have the doubling effect. Think like this, 2 dmg buffs stack in a game, but if used again you get the same dmg. Just like when he got his 1st redo talent stat, he got 1 instead of 2-3 from a level 3 Identify. So no redo, double, and repeat.
