Clan Promise

Jie Jun let out a fresh breath of air. Having set in one spot for 4 hours with his legs crossed wasn't something he did regularly in his past life. Taking a moment to stretch his cramped muscles, he could feel the new information rushing through his brain. It showed all kinds of ways to use the spear as one's own body. Just with this basic knowledge, he got from the technique orb, he knew if he had to learn this himself it might very well take years to get to this level without these game-like mechanisms.

Once he learned the Spear Thrust skill, he would then have the time to really check out his abilities. For now, he had to still continue absorbing the last orb. If this one worked as well, killing the beast for the Void Status was just a matter of time.

Jie Jun begin using the breathing technique again with the skill orb in his hand this time. Slowly, he began guiding the energy in the orb through his body. The next step he needed to take was to condense as much of the energy into a ball as small as possible.

This would keep the information that was stored in the energy altogether. Any energy not gathered meant, the chance of information being lost to learn from the death orb.

The lesser the percentage of a death orb was, the lesser the information contained in it. If one couldn't keep all the energy absorbed into a ball, the rest of the excess energy would be used as experience. To use a death orb as energy experience was considered a waste to most people because it was a chance the orb would give a technique, skill, or talent.

What the percentage meant for a death orb was the amount of information retained in the energy to absorb. For example, the death orb Jie Jun manage to get, only had 25% in it. This meant that 75% of the orb was just energy and the rest of the 25% energy in the orb had information run through it. As long as a person could contain it all, it didn't matter what percentage the orb was.

But there would always be wasted energy because the body would also absorb it while the orb was being absorbed inside when trying to contain it. The real trick to helping improve the chances was to have a fast absorption so the body didn't have time to absorb too much. Then make the energy into a ball as fast as one could and send the energy ball toward the mind. The faster one did these steps, the greater the chance of keeping the information.

If one was unlucky and had a low percent death orb, then the first energy absorb into the body might just be the information needed. Luckily, Jie Jun did not run into this problem. He was able to guide it toward his mind and feel the new information once again. The whole process for both orbs took 8 hours to achieve. He has learned both the Basic Spearmanship technique and Spear Thrust skill now.

With the rest of the today, he decided to finish touching up his abilities and then take a short rest before heading to the Wild Forest. When he got back, he would apologize to his parents for being gone so long with no notice ahead of time.

Jie Clan estate, Meeting Place, next day in the morning.

Jie Hao walked toward his seat as the elders in the clan gathered to discuss the letter from the Xiu Clan wanting to visit about the promise made by his father and the old Patriarchs of the other 2 clans.

Before he became clan leader, there was a promise made between the 3 old Patriarchs of the clans, what they wanted the younger generation to do. This promise was to join the 3 clans as one so the clan could finally compete with the sects and big clans in the Royal City. It wasn't something that would happen right off the back, but at least the future generations would have this chance.

Jie Hao looked around the room and couldn't help wondering what did the rest truly think of this decision. The clans were to become one big clan so they could take over Bullying City fully and suppress the current Big Bully sect's reign nearby. If the Xiu Clan wanted to cancel the agreement made by their ancestors, there was bound to be an uproar soon.

To cancel the joining of the clans was the same as becoming a sinner to their clan for disrespecting their elders and destroying the clan's growth.

Then there was the Liu Clan who has been silent ever since Liu Peng had his daughter join the Big Bully sect. What were their thoughts on the promise? Did the Big Bully sect already know? If the Big Bully sect became aware of their intentions, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say, Bullying City would rain blood.

Though their goal was only to take some of the sect's influence away, the Jie Clan would still be the first to be destroyed because only their clan had a male heir between the 3 clan leaders. To join together all 3 clans, it was promised that the next leaders' children would marry. The 2 females taking up this role was also to be treated as both being the first wife.

Just when he was going to voice out his question he heard a lot of noise coming from outside. "Hey, you! Don't just stand there slacking, go find out who is starting trouble in our Jie Clan! Whoever it is, is simply courting death!" Shouted Jie Feng in rage to one of the clan guards.

"Fourth Elder is there a need to be heavy-handed with the guards? They are also apart of our Jie Clan." Jie Hao said, defending the guards.

"It's because we are all too soft on them that they are always slacking and taking up resources with no gratitude in return."

"Now, now, who is courting death? Is an elder in a position to make threats on a Clan Leader? Surely you don't mean you wish our 2 clans to break all truce and make war?" After speaking, walked in a smiling Liu Peng. If one looked into his eyes, one would see the glee he was getting for causing tension in the room.

Jie Hao stood up, "Liu Peng, not that I mind the visit, but shouldn't you give me an explanation for coming without notice or at least waiting outside?"

"Nevermind that, I wasn't the only one who came here. Brother Xiu also decided to visit. I wonder if he gave notice beforehand hmm?" Smiling, Liu Peng took a sit in one of the empty chairs.

Looking behind where Liu Peng came, there were 4 more people. Liu Peng's daughter and a man who looked like an elder that didn't belong to the Liu Clan, as well as Xiu Longjian and his daughter Xiu Xueling. Both girls could be said to be world top beauties. It wasn't a stretch to say no female in Bullying City could compare to their beauty.

Liu Yuehua had more of a hot like style beauty going for her while being at the age 16. Xiu Xueling, on the other hand, gave off a more cold and aloof vibe while being only 15 years old, the same as Jie Jun. These 2 ladies were currently considered the most outstanding figures of Bullying City in the younger generation. Both also chose to join Big Bully sect at an earlier age.

"Don't lump me together with you. I did give notice but since you were barging in, there was no point waiting outside. Jie Hao where is the brat? I have already decided that his unqualified to marry my daughter. If you want to honor our ancestors, then it will have to be the next generation."

"Well said Brother Xiu, I also share this same view." One could just hear the teasing in his tone as if to fan the flames of conflict.

Frowning at how things were turning out to be, Jie Hao made a decision. "Okay, let's not worry about this now. The agreement is a year from now when my son turns 16 years old. Since my son isn't here right now, a year from now, we will make a final decision."

"Hmph!" snorted the silent elder.

Jie Hao took a look at him, "Who are you? Is there a problem with what I said? Farther more, this will give the younger generation a chance to decide." He already decided to let Jie Jun join Big Bully sect. Then he could have chances to spend more time with them.

"I don't care what you do, however, my disciple will not marry him."

Jie Hao calm his anger a little when he heard the old man's words. He was most likely an elder from the Big Bully sect, who had a high status there. There was nothing he could say to change his opinion because his strength was higher also. The strong would always disregard the weak.

"Is this what the Liu Clan decided? Did you break the pact?" Glancing at the sect elder, Jie Hao looked at Liu Peng.

"Hua'er has 2 level 2 Loved trait talents, so I'm looking out for her future. Your son would hold her back." Liu Peng's smile never left his face.

"Good Liu Peng, my eyes are open now. What about you?" Jie Hao didn't even try to continue being polite in the mist of his anger. Didn't this mean the sect knew? Or at least the sect elder before him knew the joining of the clans. Now was to see who was his true enemies where.

Xiu Longjian who haven't spoken to much begin looking awkward. He only planned to get the marriage postponed for the next generation and not completely disregard it. "We will speak again next year, but my opinion will not change." He decided to take a step back.

After everything was over, Jie Hao did not see them out when they left. He needed to spend his time finding a way to level up more because he was sure that this leash being placed on his clan would not be the last time it was used against him.

Wild Forest Border.

Jie Jun stood at the edge of the forest. This place was said to have a level range from 1 to 30. This meant the beasts inside where all at least level 1. He also already changed his stats to a speed type. This was the plan he had from the beginning because when he was born, he had the Sprint skill before learning to run. The beast he needed to kill was a speed type as well.

Bracing his legs in a slight crouch, he shot forward in the forest using Sprint. His goal was to stay at the forest edges because going to deep would be throwing his life away.

What made it worse was, wild beasts were born stronger than humans. An average human had about 10 or 15 stat points at level 0, but the average beast had 15 to 20 stat points. If it had good talents, death was the only thing waiting for a person. Thankfully, they still leveled the same as humans.

Moving around some more in the forest didn't seem to find any wild beast to kill. He was hoping to fight a weak one first to gain fighting experience and then move on to the real target but no beasts could be found. He now needed to make a choice.

Should he risk going deeper or keep looking for straggle beasts near the forest edge? Making a decision, Jie Jun was about to leave the area, when a shadow swept by.

"What was that?" Turning to try and get a better look, all Jie Jun could see was razor sharp claws blocking his eye view while growing closer and intended to slice through his head.
