155 Chapter 155- The Undercurrent Part 2

That was why it was very likely that the blonde Ranker was commissioned and ordered by the opposing factions of princesses of Zahard that didn't want the loyalist faction to become even stronger.

Or maybe it could even be the work of princesses of Zahard from the loyalist faction that didn't want Adori to grow too big and popular to outshine them, like the Lo Po Bia.

Although the Lo Po Bia family was a loyal and faithful follower of king Zahard, it didn't mean that every single member of the family had the same thoughts and loyalty as their family head.

This was especially the case for the members of the Zahard family.

After all, none of them were actually the blood descendants of king Zahard himself, and the contest of the princesses of Zahard that he had fanned out himself had worsened and complicated the overall situation and relationship between the ten great families.

The contest among the princesses of Zahard was basically a bloodbath of a slugfest.

Every chosen princess of Zahard had to be vigilant and put up their guard to defend themselves from schemes and plots that they concocted against each other.

To survive the bloody competition, they had to quickly band up and create a force together.

However, to princesses without any connection or great background like Adori, who was still climbing the tower, it was incredibly hard to survive a scheme from the chosen princesses, especially after they had understood that Adori was incredibly talented to the point they were feeling threatened by her potential.

Every single of the thirteen months meant a lot in this competition as they could change the entire tide of war, making a single faction easily outmatch and triumph over the others.

And if they had collected far more thirteen months than the other factions, this would hopefully be able to end this nonsense and ridiculous competition that did nothing but worsen the relationship among the ten great families and the Zahard Empire.

However, there was one way sure to end the competition once and for all as it was guaranteed by the king himself. It was to defeat or kill all of the current holders of the thirteen months and took every single part of the thirteen months.

With that, the one who managed to accomplish it would instantly win the competition and become the winner of the long-lasting competition. Unfortunately, doing such a thing was nigh impossible due to the extreme difficulty.

After all, who could accomplish such a thing among the princesses of Zahard?

Yet, they never thought that a candidate would finally appear after so long.

Yes, easy to say, it was… Adori Zahard!

The one who finished more than half of the journey in just three decades!

The one who was regarded as the most talented princess of Zahard to ever exist!

As long as she reached the top, she would certainly be able to soar through the ranks of High Rankers and maybe even become the greatest and most influential High Ranker after the leaders of the ten great families themselves!

This wasn't just some kind of exaggeration or baseless speculation, many great powers and princesses of Zahard understood this well.

This was based on king Zahard's preferential treatment to the princesses of Zahard that originated from ordinary families.

If an unremarkable princess of Zahard like Yuram Zahard could obtain Indigo July, one of the legendary thirteen months, then Adori, who had talent far greater than Khun Maschenny Zahard, one of the most powerful princesses of Zahard from the Khun family, she certainly can obtain one and receive more.

After all, Adori had no background at all as she was only an orphan and street urchin back then.

King Zahard certainly would most definitely become interested in her as long as she just managed to become a Ranker, which should be pretty easy for her.

Given her talent, king Zahard would be able to assign her to a very high and grand position in the Zahard Empire. Preferably in the Zahard Army so Adori could use her talent to the maximum.

That was why many people didn't like her, especially the princesses of Zahard since Adori could take away everything once she became a Ranker. After all, to keep their power and influence, they had to compete and crush their rivals ruthlessly.

And now, a greenhorn suddenly appeared and wanted to throw them away from their thrones? No way would they let her so easily.

However, obviously, not all of them thought the same.

Hence, there were three factions.

Those who wanted to prevent Adori from gaining power, those who wanted to support her to gain her favor, and those who didn't really care about this and wanted to keep their neutrality as they just wanted to live leisurely.

Adori shook her head lightly. "No, it's actually all thanks to you, Liu. After all, without you, we wouldn't have been able to capture the death worm and pass the test."

"Well, alright if you say so." Liu Guanyi shrugged his shoulders.

"However, if you reject to take the credit and I don't really feel that I deserve it, then I guess it's more apt to be given to this little guy." Liu Guanyi spoke with a wide grin on his face as he took out a gray-colored hexagon object.

Looking at the gray hexagon object, Adori smiled. "Indeed, Gray Stingray has been proven to be quite useful not just for reconnaissance but also to secretly gather intel and record information from unsuspecting people."

"That was how we managed to get our evidence, right?" Liu Guanyi asked casually.

"Yes, the record of our conversations with the Ranker and the hired scout, and also why we managed to spot some of the shinsu bombs that were planted along the tunnels in advance. In the end, we managed to avoid the center of the explosion and the tunnels' collapse."

"Also, most importantly, we obtained this." Adori said as she showed a scrap metal with a bluish material fragment stuck on it.

This was the remnant of a powerful shinsu bomb, a clear evidence of what happened in the tunnels.

"Hmm, with this we can certainly pressure them to take responsibility. However, pressuring them with just this is not enough. I knew that you can do much better than that with your capability. And indeed, you didn't let down my expectation of you."

"How did you get that High Ranker to support you?" Liu Guanyi asked curiously.

"Of course, I have my own ways. I am not just a random princess of Zahard, after all." Said Adori smugly with a slight grin on her face.

They casually chatted and joked around some more, before Adori turned more serious. "Liu, how long we are planning to stay on this floor?"

Liu Guanyi seemed to ponder it as he clenched and opened his hand a few times.

"It seems that we are going to stay here for a little more. I feel that my time has come." Said Liu Guanyi with a deep and sincere smile, something that was very rare to be seen on him even after they had been together for more than three decades.

Adori smiled back at him. "Alright, then I will wait until then." She said with a clear hint of happiness within her voice.
