1 Chapter One

Im making my way to the train station. I cant take no more of my home town, i have nothing left here for me. I have no friends or family. Im going to start fresh, somewhere new. Ive only got a bag pack filled with my essentials, clothes, snacks, money.

After a very long and tiresome journey on the train and booking an 8 hour flight to new york im going to be staying in a hotel tonight until 10am when my flight is due to leave.

I decide to check in to the hotel and spend the next 10 hours figuring out how im going to start of. Ive created a new email. Ive changed my mobile number through my service provider and I look for places to stay temporarily until i can find a permanent home. I apply for 25 jobs including apprenticeships for cleaning operative, secretary and waitress. The only previous work experience that i have is a weekend job in a convenience store.

5 hours after i apply for the position of an apprentice secretary i recieved an email asking if i could fill a quick questionnaire out with some personal information so they can get back to me. I fill in the details.

Reason of aplication: i would like to work my way up to been a secretary and have a stable income.

I send via email. Its currently 7pm so i decide to have some food have a bath then an early night as i have to be up early to get to the air port.

I decide to have noodles as a quick meal but i add some rice cakes, chopped onion, chicken and cheese to bulk it out so it fills me. After ive eaten my food i run a nice relaxing bath to relieve the tension in my back. Finally i can go to bed and get comfy before i set an alarm for 7am to get everything packed up in my my bag pack.

*PING* "This is Duncan Price the CEO of Duncan enterprise, im contacting you in relation to your application for apprenticeship secretary, weve recieved your email and i decided to contact you personally as i think youll be fit for the job, would it be possible if we can have a chat via phone call now or could you pop in my office on Wednesday.

Thanks, Duncan."

" This is Aurora Reed, yes i could take a phone call now"

Its currently 9:15pm and my phone rings.

"Hello Aurora Reed this is Duncan Price i would just like to ask you a few questions to see if your fit for the position if thats okay, i know its late but the quicker we do this the quicker you can start"

"Hi Mr Price, yes sure thats fine"

"On your application it states you have no permanent abode what are you doing about this and have you enough income to find somewhere to live?"

"I currently have no fixed abode due to me moving to new york tomorrow and i have not found anywhere to live yet but i land tomorrow at 8pm and ill be at temporary accommodation until i can find a permanent place to stay."

"Thats great when are you willing to come to the office for an induction to recieve your days, equipment and supplies for the job"

"Does that mean ive got the job?"

"I will be sending you an email when to come to the office, youll be my secretary on an apprenticeship basis for 1 year 6 month, ill take the advertisement off the internet and im looking forward to meeting you."

"OMG thank you so much for giving me the opportunity! Thank you!"

"Good bye Miss Reed ill send you over all of the information youll need now, have a good sleep and I will see you soon"

*BEEP*

Oh my days ive completed the first step to be able to find a permanent stable home. Im so excited to start my new life. Ive currently got enough money for one month rent and essentials.

"Hi Miss Reed, I'd like you to please come to the office at 8am on wednesday so we can finalise your job position.

Work days will consist of Monday until Wednesday unless i need you extra days from 9am until 5pm.

Please be aware that youll be payed £5 an hour for two weeks until your DBS check comes back, which i am paying for, then youll recieve standard pay of £8.50 once your DBS check has come back for the remainder of the 1 year 5 month and 2 weeks. If you decide to stay as an secretary after the apprenticeship is over youll then go on to £10 an hour.

You should wear formal office clothing including; Black or Grey trowsers, Black or Grey skirt, Black or Grey dress, White shirt, Black or Grey shoes or flats and Black or Grey blazer. Any of these options are fine as long as you look smart. Dont worrie if you dont have any of these options at the moment, i will supply you of one pair of each clothing listed in the starter pack appart from shoes.

You will recive a welcome starter pack on your desk thats in my office which ive added a few extras in to help you out until you are on your feet.

" Than you so much for the opportunity and believing in me Mr Price. I wont let you down I don't have no black or grey flat shoes at the moment as ive only got a few essentials on me but i will purchase some when i land tomorrow, see you wednesday. Aurora"

Things are starting to drop in to place, all i need to worrie about is finding somewhere to live. I place my phone on charge i fill my bottle up with lemon and lime flavoured water and decide to look for an apartment cheap enough that i can afford.

Its currently 11.30pm on Monday and i have applied for 8 apartments in the same block close enough to Duncan enterprise. I decide that is enough applying for now and its late enough already, i should go to sleep.

Its 7am Tuesday morning and my alarm has gone off. I need to be at the air port for 10am for a flight at 12 noon to land at 8pm. I decide to make some breakfast which consists of eggs and toast with a cup of tea. After ive finished my breakfast i brush my hair and put two scalplats in my blonde long hair and place everything in to my bag pack ready to leave the hotel at 9.30am. I put a pair of black leggings on and a white oversized cropped hoody on with my white converse trainers.

Its currently 9.15 am and i make my way to the front desk to check out and find a shop to buy some snacks and drinks for the 8 hour long journer then to get a taxi to the air port. Ive checked out of the hotel and ive been handed a gift bag from reception for my first time stay which includes a nice pen with my name on, a writing book, a thank you card and a £30 gift voucher to spend at many different stores.

I make my way to a convenience store to purchase some baby wipes, crisps, breakfast bars and some flavoured water which fits in my back pack.

*PING* "Hi Miss Reed its Duncan Price, let me know which air port youll be landing at all ill personally pick you up and you could stay in my guest bedroom until you can find a permanent place to stay as i need an address to send with your DBS check"

"Thank you for the offer but you dont have to go through so much trouble, I'm sure your a very busy man"

"Dont worry about it Miss Reed, let me know a time and place to pick you up from, have a safe flight"

I send Duncan the address of the air port ill be landing at and the time i should be there by. I get a taxi at exactly 9.30am making my way to the air port. Once ive arrived everyone on the same flight as me has been sent to the air port waiting room waiting for the plane to be called. I get called up first by front desk at 11.40 to be told ive been changed to first class and everything is payed for including food and drinks, tv and snacks all payed for by Duncan.

"Thank you for the upgrade see you in a few hours" i turn my phone turned off.

I have also recieved a welcome package from the air line with a few added extras from duncan which includes an eye mask, dressing gown, slippers, some reading books, a bracelet and some expensive snacks. Damn hes going all out, what have i done to deserve all this luxury treatment.

One hour in to the flight i decide to have a small glass of wine and i get handed a food stand full of different kinds of mini sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, fruit and crisps. What ever is not eaten now gets bagged up for the individual to take with them as a doggy bag.

Two hours in to the flight the flight attended brings everyone round a box with 4 different sections of pasta and a choice of wines. I decide to eat the plater of pasta as im hungry and i choose a white wine to go with it.

Three hours in to the flight i decide to nap for a few hours as im getting tired now. Its currently 3pm and ill sleep until 5.30pm.

Five and a half hours in to the flight everyone gets handed a question aire about how their flight was. Obviously my answers are going to be great, ive never had anything like this before.

Seven hours in to the flight and everyones question aires are handed in, everyone starts to get handed another goody bag filled with their left over food of the stand, a thank you card, a half price voucher of your next two flights with them valid for five year, a set of 3 rose gold pens, a bag of luxury sweets and a 70% discount code to use at any shop over 6 month.

The last half hour of the flight everyones getting ready to land and the captain comes across the tannoy thanking all of us for flying with them and we will all each be contacted with some freebies in our emails over the next 6 months. All 20 people that are flying first class will be included in a draw to win a free holiday payed for all inclusive pluss £1000 each spending money.

Everyone in first class lining up to leave the aero plane after its landed and everyone has recieved a mini gift including a glass, chocolate and alcohol. After leaving the aero plane i turn my phone on to 6 new notifications what are from Duncan

"No worries, i decided you should fly first class and feel comfortable, have a safe flight see you soon"

"Only 4 hours until you land."

"Just letting you know ive arranged us some food to be delivered at 9pm for us getting back, hope you like chinese."

"Only 2 hours until you land."

"Were having the day of work tomorrow to get you settled in and go where ever you want to get what you need, ill bring your welcome starter pack home with me and ill give you it when i pick you up."

"im outside now ill be walking to where you come through with your name sign keep a look out for me."

As i walk past security and everyone else i see "Miss Reed" on a sign been held by the most handsome looking man ever. No way is that Mr Price. He walks towards me takes my bags of me and shakes my hand.

"Nice to finally meet you Miss Reed, with your confused look i guess youve recieved my text messages, we best be on our way or our food will be getting cold."

"Nice to meet you Mr Price, its been a long flight and ive recieved so many gifts from the hotel and the aero plane hostess. Why is everyone been nice, im not used to any of this luxury nice treatment. Im a little over whelmed and anxious at the moment. Thank you for everything again."

"No need to thank me Miss Reed, i seen a opportunity to help someone so i decided to help you, i hope your flight was okay and ive got food ready and your room is prepared for you."

As we walk towards Mr Price Range Rover i start to feel really nervous with the decisions i have made even tho Mr Price had assured me nothing bad is going to happen from now on im still a little scared.
