2 The Beginning of Year One.

"Welcome to our class, Asuka." Apparently, this is the beginning of a new school, it's not exactly great but I hope this will pay off one day. Hi, I'm Itsuki Asuka, or you could just call me Asuka, my first name and I'm in third grade right now. I'm in a new school because I recently joined a program called the "Discovery Program", my mother says it's for highly gifted kids, I never understood why she said that because I barely passed with a 92 on my placement test and I received a ton of average scores back in my old school. Sorry, it's just that I highly doubt that I'll be in this program for a couple of years.

"Asuka, would you care to introduce yourself? It's okay if you don't want to, but if you do, you have to say your name and tell the class your favourite thing to do." The teacher spoke, interrupting my racing thoughts of how this year would go.

"Alright." I paused for a moment and then continued: "My name is Itsuki Asuka, my favourite activity is to draw." My voice was quiet, quieter than how the teacher wanted.

"Asuka, may you repeat yourself? I'm sorry but we can barely hear you." Her voice ringed in my ears, I felt my cheeks getting redder with embarrassment as the class turned to face me, their eyes piercing with curiosity that made me more uncomfortable.

"Sorry, I will try to speak louder Ms. Fujiki." My voice was laced with shyness as I was afraid to meet their gazes. I spoke with a louder voice this time but more quickly, I just wanted to get this finished with. "Hi, my name is Itsuki Asuka, my favourite activity is to draw."

"Thank you, Asuka." Ms. Fujiki announced as my turn was over. This girl that was right next to me, her appearance was quite a sight and different from most of the female students, I suppose it's her turn now: "Hello, my name is Aikawa Harumi, my favourite activity is doing gymnastics." Her voice was the opposite of mine, clear as water and confident. I still wonder whether she wants to be friends with me, who knows? It's the first day and we're all from different schools so we must be looking to make new friends...right? Those thoughts repeated in my head for several minutes until I realized that the introductions were over and it was now time for music class as it was Monday. Ms. Fujiki quickly explained that we would be having language arts every day before the electives, although today was just a get-to-know-you day. The electives vary every week, we have physical education on Wednesdays and Fridays, music on Mondays and Thursdays, and Tuesdays in the library. It's my first time in this school so therefore, I have no idea where all of the classes are. I just hope the music class will go great.
