10 Provoking a Monster

As Jie Heijun raced through the Siege Forest, he noticed the moment he passed a particular part; a number appeared above his head. Ten! It was 30 centimeters in size and glowed with a green light.

There was also a small form of green light that wrapped around his body and supported the number ten. The glow was very dim and didn't draw in attention like the number stationed above his head which wanted to shine as bright as it could but gave the impression of being hindered by something.

For now, he could only accept that the five middle-aged men hadn't gone in complete detail because they wanted to give them a few surprises in the forest. Jie Heijun did not stop as he continued on his way despite the small changes.

With trees passing in his view, he kept his eyes appealed for anything of noteworthy. Sadly, the only thing he came across was leaves and trees. But, he had to give the Siege Forest credit, the leaves weren't just looking razor sharp.

Instead, the majority of the leaves surrounding the areas he ran through, was actually sharp enough to cut a person by the slightest touch. If someone got pushed into the surrounding leaves unexpectedly, they would definitely meet a cruel end.

Not wanting to travel too far inside, in case the five men's words couldn't be trusted entirely, he stopped as he approached a small cluster of leaves to examine if they could be turned into throwing weapons.

Determining that they could indeed be used, he grabbed a few before he heard footsteps approaching him rapidly. Turning his body to face the advancing sound, he spotted a wolf with its tongue hanging out and two rows of sharp teeth gleaming viciously at him.

Surprisingly, the first thought he had upon noticing the ferocious beast was how did it get its teeth to be so bright and white. He doubted it could be taking the time to clean the grime that would build up when left alone.

Only after this fact, was he able to pay attention to the next strange thing about the ferocious beast. Its fur was straight and the ends even. To his eyes, the creature looked completely out of place in the Siege Forest. The appearance of it being a pet kept for training was screaming out, loud and clear.

But the thing was, he couldn't remember there being anyone in Beach Town who raised and trained ferocious beasts. After all, with Beach Town's limited resources, raising a beast to higher levels was arduous.

Keeping his guard up for a sneak attack, he focused his attention on the charging wolf. Thankfully, he could tell the beast wasn't too high in level because it didn't have any mutations different from a normal wolf.

The more a ferocious beast looked normal, the lower its realm and body level would be. He assumed the person hiding in wait was a Martial Novice at the Early Stage and haven't quite yet, reached level 2 in body level.

The meant they were like him with only one talent that hadn't gone through its strengthening. As for the creature in front, it could only be weaker. Most likely, it was a ferocious beast that had just stepped into the Martial Body realm and hadn't had the time to gain a body talent.

Stepping forward to confront the creature head-on, he prepared to test out the full effects the talent Glass Cannon provided him. The wolf beast, on the other hand, closed the distance as it gave a swipe with its claws trying to rip him to pieces.

He quickly ducked the swipe while getting even closer into its guard. Not being detoured, the wolf-beast then tried biting his neck in hope for a fast finish. Of course, Jie Heojun would never let this happen as he leaned out of reach and swung his fist forward.

Bang!

The wolf beast's head snapped back and positioned at an odd angle that showed its neck had snapped. There was no suspense to the outcome. A level 1 beast had died with no ability to resist. Up in a tree, a young man watched in disbelief at the scene down below.

Jie Heijun had always been known to be a little stronger than those who were at the same level as him. But it had never been this exaggerated to the point he could cross realms to fight others. He didn't see how a Mortal Realm practitioner could kill a Martial Realm beast.

Residents and beasts were even stronger by a little compared to their human counterparts. Didn't this mean his strength was at the same level as his or even higher since he didn't think he could achieve the same type of results?

Deciding to forgo his plans on launching a sneak attack, the young man turned to leave. It was at this moment when he saw his points drop down to five and Jie Heijun who was down in the clearing, raise to fifteen while becoming 45 centimeters in size.

What kind of nonsense was that? They haven't even exchanged blows, yet his points still dropped. And they fell by a total of five points. Anger filled the young man who had thoughts of running away.

Courting death!

He planned to entirely cripple this waste before him if it was the last thing he did. He would never let the chance to grow stronger escape from his hands. If it meant showing others who were their betters, so be it.

He jumped down from the tree, not even trying to hide his position any longer. "Beggar! Why are you trying to make things difficult for me? Do you know how long I waited for a chance to leave Beach Town? I'm already passing the so call 'ripe years' for us youths. If I let somebody like you steal it, where would I be able to put my face?" He raged.

Although he didn't show it, Jie Heijun was speechless. Did the young man standing before him, listened to or heard the words he just sprouted? Deciding not to humor the insane person, he rushed to him. He didn't even care anymore, how the young man had got a beast trained in the first place.

The young man snorted seeing the straightforward action. It was like telling him what he would do next. The young man gathered strength and Form Qi in his hand with light barely being seen from it. "Crushing Might!" He exclaimed.

A smile could be seen on the young man's face as Jie Heijun was placed in front of his attack. So what if he was a little stronger than the average person? There was still a barrier between the Mortal Body realm and the Martial Body realm.

Just this move alone was more than enough to kill somebody who had only just entered the Martial Body realm, let alone someone who was still in the Mortal Body realm. However, Jie Heijun did not see it this way.

He pulled the spear he had brought for the dangers in the Siege Forest, off his back. With a mighty shout to build momentum, Jie Heijun used the only ability he learned at a young age from his mother.

Spear Thrust!

It was a skill for those in the Mortal Body realm, while the ability used by the angry young man, was a skill for those in the Martial Body realm.

Despite the difference in realms and skills, the young man still lost the exchange between them as he was push back with a small hole just enough to break the skin and cause bleeding, poured from his wound.

Impossible!

He refused to believe anybody could jump levels like Jie Heijun was doing. Was the guy before him a monster or something. He had the complete advantage in everything. And yet, he still was on the losing end?

"Forfeit your points to me?" Jie Heijun told and reminded him. The attack just now could have taken the young man's life, but he pulled back at the last moment because he didn't bare any strong animosity toward the youth.

After all, this was a test to see who was stronger and it required the participants to fight each other. It would be strange if the young man didn't attack or try to sneak an attack on him. He would also plan to do the same to others.

"Forfeit? Do you see me lying dead on the ground? I can never lose to you beggar!" He countered. He was honestly prepared to die before giving up. Jie Heijun sighed as he looked at the young man standing in front of him in a sorry state.

"So be it. Don't blame me for being ruthless, I already been kind enough." Jie Heijun said as he stepped forward. Fear washed over the young man's face, why did he have to be the one to provoke this monster?
