44 Chapter 44

I played difficult adjusted Terraria for a while with the Luck point weighing on my mind.

I'm having a good time, but I still have a small feeling of having been cheated.

It was 1,500 achievement points, after all.

[Stats:

Luck: 1

Charm: 12 (11 + 10%)

Intelligence: 15 (14 + 10%)

Current Achievement Points: 1336

I scratched my head. Well, I could buy a few things with the achievement points but I'd rather save up these achievement points for something that might be a little more useful.

Drinking from my mug of water that I just refilled, I walk back to my room carefully with the mug in my hand.

From the side, I see Charlotte coming out of her room.

She too sees me and hops around to me.

I paused my steps and waited for what she was going to communicate to me.

Instead, she looked at me with her big eyes, poked my rib, and hopped to the kitchen.

I raised my eyebrows.

Weirdo.

I entered my room and lock the door.

I came into view of the facecam and took off the 5-minute break screen.

Yes. It's good to take breaks every 30 minutes from the screen.

I told chat and my friends about it earlier and they seemed to agree.

My chat began filling up with welcome backs and I smiled at the camera.

I put my earphones back on and mostly everyone was already back.

"So, are we killing the big weird eye thing?"

[Yvettel: "Yesss, let's kill the Eye of Cthulhu."]

[Redde: "Uhhhh, are we ready for that? I mean. Won't bosses also be really hard in this mod?"]

[bzoomster: "We can use the explosive bunnies and just put a bunch of them and then just have the Eye run over it."]

[Rykun: "Yeah, that sounds great."]

[Juliamn: "I made an explosive bunny farm! Are you guys proud?"]

The golden-retriever like person puffed his chest and asked with pride.

[wipL: "Yes, yes. Of course."]

[LoafOfBread: "Nice. How many you got?"]

[Juliamn: "Like 30 or something."]

[Yvettel: "That's enough. We'll do the rest to the boss and since we can just keep respawning we shouldn't struggle too much I think."]

"Alrighttt." I took a gulp of my mug.

[Ding!]

Water got into my windpipe and I began coughing.

Oh, it's finally back.

[The Host is now an extremely lucky person!]

Yes! Okay, that's great.

I coughed once more. No, I have not been hit by a certain virus whose name starts with C.

Hearing the words of the system, a sense of relief released the burden of the luck point weighing down on my mind.

What happened though? Was it just lag from the system?

Oh well, what's important is that it has already been resolved.

From outside, the rain gradually began decreasing and the clouds opened up for a beautiful night sky.

The stars twinkled to greet me and there was a loud whoosh from outside the window.

[Stats:

Luck: * *

Charm: 12

Intelligence: 15]

Next to luck, instead of [2] there were two shiny stars.

Woah, okay so now instead of stars in digit form, they're now shapes?

Does this change anything?

Now, what will two points of luck do now? Will it still be one rechargeable two-hour lucky encounter but stronger, or two lucky encounters?

I looked at the stat in contemplation while thinking about the pros and cons of each.

Well, it's not as if I can dictate the lucky encounters, anyway. I'll just have to wait until something happens and check how the stat works.

[blacklily: "I think Charlie's spacing out again."]

"Whatttt, nope. No clue what you're talking about."

[Yvettel: "Hahaha— Charlie I'm pretty sure you did."]

"No."

They just laughed and I chased them around trying to place an explosive bunny next to them.

Friday

2 PM.

It's been almost a day and a half since I opened the Achievement Egg on Wednesday.

It's the last class of the day and everyone, even the teachers are feeling slightly dull.

Nothing much has happened since Wednesday, though I had a few interesting encounters.

Yesterday and today I've been stopped in the metro with my sister by other girls asking for my number.

I won't say it doesn't feel nice.

It does feel a little embarrassing because having it happening a little often now is starting to weird out Charlotte.

Though I don't think I'm going to be looking for a relationship soon since I need to focus on my career and my family.

It might be a little sad in the future to search for my soul mate since I wouldn't know if she'd want me for my fame and money.

Ah, thinking about it now makes me really uncomfortable.

These girls asking for my number are looking to probably have some fun with me and then leave me.

I mean, it's the relationships with people who are your friends and support you that actually last long, rather than random links in the street without knowing how they actually are.

By asking for my number, they're looking to probably brag me around rather than for us to be companions to support each other.

I don't know, I've been raised pretty conservatively on the romantic side of things.

A relationship to me shouldn't be a random hook, or interest after seeing someone in the streets. Rather it should be a connection after a long time of communicating with and trusting each other.

That's just me I guess.

That's why I just thanked them and told them I wasn't too comfortable sharing my phone number with people I just met.

Most just smiled at me and walked away, while a few of them were a whole nother show.

I'm still rather inexperienced in these situations, and I'd prefer not to lie about being in a relationship or giving them a fake number.

I think it's better to just be upfront about it and tell them you're not interested.

Man, these points of charm are starting to get a little bothersome.

Sooner or later, I'm going to have to get a bodyguard or just walk around with a mask and glasses which would feel wretched.

I mean, who even wears masks anyway? It's not as if we're in a pandemic and there are thousands of people dying every day because some people just don't want to wear masks.

[Author Note: Please wash your hands and wear your masks when going out! ^^]

Good that there's no such thing here.

Wearing a mask will be for later, though. It would feel a little ridiculous being forced to wear a mask right now.

I shook myself out of my thoughts feeling my senses blaring that I was being stared at once again.

Well, some dudes are definitely feeling murderous right now.

Sigh.

Since it's a Friday today, I'll be working at the Cafe.

Not only that, but John will also come today to the cafe to talk to me about the modeling agency stuff.

I don't doubt that he knows I work here since his bald train driver friend found out last Friday. Haha, Baldwin.

It'd be cool if that was his actual name.

He was a pretty nice guy though. Looking at it from a perspective where I'm not tense or feeling threatened at all, he doesn't look like the type to murder people in cold blood.

Of course, it wasn't comforting at all when he just started laughing his nose off as the guy that was supposed to murder us approached us.

Not very cool.

The bell will ring pretty soon now and mark the end of classes.

Classes right now aren't too interesting. Usually, I'd pay attention since it depends on me to get my education but I'm learning things at such a quick pace that the questions, examples, and tips the teacher gives us throughout the class I can more or less already surmise from the basic knowledge we have of the topic.

I could tell the teacher that I already know these topics and get a move on, but if I did I'd probably be recruited for an advanced program which will obviously have me listed for school tournaments.

Of course, I'd like to participate in school tournaments, but right now it'd be hard to commit to streaming, education competitions, and modeling all at the same time.

A loud ring interrupts my thoughts and immediately, students from all around the school begin to pack up their materials.

Yeah yeah, that's right. No teacher here is a 'The bell doesn't dismiss you, I do' type of teacher. You can suck it.

The teachers schedule their time appropriately and leave the last 5 minutes to properly conclude the class and let students stay after to answer questions, instead of holding back the entire class.

I strode through the halls to my locker, once again feeling the full brunt of my 12 points of charm.

Fortunately, the charm doesn't really affect how my friends and I communicate with each other. There's really no barrier between us.

After leaving the items in my locker, I decided I'd group up with my friends. I'll go to the cafe in a few minutes, it's not like they need my help right now.

I felt something jump on my back and hang themselves from my shoulders.

There was another slap on my shoulder and I look back to see who it is.

Ronan grinned while hanging from my back and Elle just smiled at me.

"Hey."

"Sup."

We talked as we headed towards the outside area, where we usually sit after school.

"Did you know that flamingoes are pink because they eat a lot of shrimp?"

"Does that mean if I eat a lot of shrimp I'll be pink?"

I slapped Ronan's head.

"Yeah, of course."

"Hey, don't slap my head!"

"Don't be an idiot then."

He slapped and began patting my back repeatedly.

"You're right, you're right."

He patted my back even harder.

I dodged his strikes and Elle just stared at us,

"Buncha weirdos."

"Wanna catch some of this smoke?" We both turned around to her.

She got into a boxing stance.

"Bring it on. I'll send you back to mommy."

I glanced at Ronan and he glanced back.

"I think we're fine," he said. I didn't, though.

Elle smiled.

We got outside and not long after I see the grass, I tackle Elle onto it.

Of course, I make sure not to touch any spots that'll get me slapped and kicked. This is just playfulness, not lechery.

Ronan began laughing his butt off and Elle's gasp of shock stuttered and turned into laughter.

"Haha— aw, god damnit Charlie. It hurts like a… ughhh, what the hell Charlie?" She patted her ribs.

I helped her back up to her feet and she slapped the back of my head repeatedly.

She nagged me repeatedly that surprise attacks are for the cowardly and that I should fight her with courage and valor.

I just flicked her short golden hair into her face.

"Yeah yeah."
