1 Prologue

In the future there was a term: DMMO-RPG.

That word was an acronym for "Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game".

These games were played by connecting the console to the brain via a neuronal nano-interface. This was the gear that allows the players to enter the game and experience the virtual world as real life.

In order to for players distinguish themselves from the real world, the smell and taste were removed. Not to mention, the sense of touch was also highly limited.

Any DMMO-RPGs had to abide by strict rules that forbid adult rated actions, such as the inappropriate touching of other players. It was for this reason that players were kept under close watch so that in the case that these did occur, the accused players account will be deleted immediately.

And among the myriad DMMO-RPGs that thronged the market, one of them that was expected to stand above the others was: Yggdrasil.

This game had been painstakingly developed, advertised like there was tomorrow and had been finally released in 2126. It was an open-world exploration game where knowledge was key, nothing other than the controls were made to the players.

This had put very high value towards new information regarding the game. New classes, items and locations were always found, but almost never intentionally shared publicly so as to not give other players the advantage.

To put into perspective how massive this fame actually was, the game's 12 year lifespan, only 30% of the games nine worlds were mapped.

If you are familiar with Norse mythology, it was obvious what the nine worlds are. Yggdrasil is named after the World tree that access the center of the universe to bridge the nine realms of Norse Mythology—

26th of April, 8 pm, within a dark and silent room, Lucius was looking at the dive gear in his hands as excitement had overwhelmed him. He had been waiting for a long time for this day, and today was the day he was going to finally play.

After all, he was not of this world, Lucius was a reincarnator. At an early age, he had quickly realised this was an alternate world. This was the dystopian world where the anime: Overlord protagonist lived.

Yggdrasil was the game in which the protagonist of the anime had transmigrated into. This game was going to decided whether or not he was going to live a exciting life or a shitty one.

Having already lived in a place slightly similar to the world he was living in, he knew what was going to happen after graduating. There was no way he was going to repeat all of that again, and luckily for him there was nobody to tell him off.

In this life, he was an orphan. Both of his parents died in a plane crash, leaving him behind with no relatives.

As a result, he became an orphan with a large amount of money that could last him for three lifetimes. With this, he did not go to school as he hoped to gamble everything on Yggdrasil and transmigrate into the body of his avatar.

Hence, the reason for his overwhelming excitement at this moment. He had trained for this day to become the best player and create the strongest character in Yggdrasil.

"Its okay, I got this. Link Start!"

Lucius pumped himself up as he laid on his bed, gently pushing the button on his helmet. Slowly, he began to lose consciousness as his eyes closed.

Once he opened his eyes again, he found himself passing through a multicoloured tunnel. Arriving in a empty room, a screen appeared before in front of him.

Welcome to Yggdrasil!

This is a game of exploration and freedom.

You! The player shall explore the world Yggdrasil and unveil its mysteries...

Please choose a race.

In YGGDRASIL, there are three main races; namely the "Human" race, "Demi-Human" race, and "Heteromorphic" race, with over 700 subclasses.

The first of three are the humanoids, which consists of humans than other human-like races such as elves and dwarves.

This race is unique because racial level are not applied to them, allowing for all 100 level points distributed into job classes. This made it easier to learn more powerful skills, giving the humanoids a lot of potential to become very strong.

The demi-human race consists of ogres, minotaurs, beastmen and many other mythical creatures. Unlike the humanoids, they can level up their racial classes and gain racial skills.

Lastly is the heteromorphic race, which is the category that all of the members Ainz guild fell into. These players can be anything from angels, demons to dragons to zombies.

They have the most powerful base stats and gain the most from the racial level in exchange for limiting the number of level that they can put into their job classes.

This race was the least popular out of the three. They could be killed without any penalty, whereas killing a human will incur a penalty. They were also excluded from certain classes and cities.

"I choose human."

Of course, this was the obvious choice for Lucius.

The human race was like a blank canvas. This race had immense potential as it gave the players the ability to gain all of their strengths from job classes and skills.

There are over 2000 unique job classes, with three different types of job classes. They're usually ranked between base, high and rare. Base job classes can be leveled up to 15, high classes can be leveled up to 10, and rare classes, like World Champion or Eclipse, can only be leveled up to 5 at max.

As long as Lucius chose the right job classes, it was possible to create the strongest character in Yggdrasil. He was confident in his ability and there was nothing money couldn't buy.

However, most importantly, if he were to transmigrate, he didn't want to end up in a body of a skeleton or any grotesque forms.

Please choose your character's gender.

"Male"

After choosing his gender, a 3D hologram appeared before Lucius. The hologram was of him and it gave him many options to change the way he looked.

Considering the fact he may transmigrate into the body of his character, normally, he should carefully spend his time customising his character according to his desire.

However, other than changing his hair colour to silvery white, height of the character and eye colour to scarlet red, he changed nothing else.

Lucius was a handsome young man with sharp facial features and well built body.

This was achieved by working out over these past few years and his the genetics he received from his parents. He wanted to be in tip top shape for gaming since a healthy body meant a healthy mind.

Thus, there was no need to change anything else and he could move on to the next step.

Please name your character.

"Lucius."

Once again, he had chosen to go the obvious choice and chose his real name. After all, if he really were to transmigrate and named his character a name such as Godslayer 69, he would die of embarrassment.

Successful created character name. The character Lucius has been created...
