2 Day 6 - 10

- Day 6

Along with the goblin from yesterday who has mostly recovered and introduced himself as Gobudo, we have set out on yet another hunting expedition. For the time being I've given Gobudo one of the large branches found outside since, like quite a few others, he appears to be the bruiser type, though I must say he is quite a bit more prideful than the idiot the other goblin is keeping with him. Because of this, when I told him that my first venture involved singlehandedly killing a horned rabbit he simply had to prove himself.

Puffing out his chest, he rushed at the first rabbit in sight, resulting in a sigh and a face palm from me and a horn in the leg for the idiot. As he was screaming, I coated my small horn with some of the snake venom I can now make and stabbed the critter while it was preoccupied. I severely scolded Gobudo and after he began apologising profusely, I decided to take him to a nearby lake to clean his wound. While we were there, we did manage to catch a few fish and yes, we both did. He struggled at first but after I gave him a few pointers he began to slowly get it. After eating a few of the fishes souls I ended up getting the {Swimming Proficiency} skill which is just how it sounds.

I decided to test it by swimming down to the bottom of the lake which allowed me to discover a small amount of strange blue stones down there. I decided to keep these hidden for the time being and rise back to the surface to see that Gobudo has already started eating the fish raw. Is that safe for goblins? Well, he seems to be enjoying himself so I guess it doesn't matter.

As we continued walking we came across a few snakes and, working together, managed to make quick work of them, even earning me another two skills, {Quick Strike} and {Quick Bite}. These skills basically increase my attacking speed when doing one of the two actions.

We returned home a little while after the other pair which was now a trio and, Listening in for a moment, I overhear something that makes me chuckle. Apparently most of the young goblins eat tree nuts and other things like that because they're too stupid to hunt anything. It's not that I find it hard to believe though, what with Gobudo almost getting killed by a rabbit.

After settling down and going through the things I brought back, the elder goblin that named me came to check on what I was doing right when I pulled out one of the strange stones I found at the bottom of the lake. Apparently they're called spirit stones and these specific stones are of the water variety. According to the elder goblin who I'm just going to call gramps, if a spirit stone is forged into a weapon it can drastically increase its power and offer special effects. Now I want to try eating the soul of a smith.

- Day 7

Gobudo isn't joining the hunt today. He said something about being asked to go hunting with a few others and decided to try and teach them what I taught him. I said it was fine but to not try to take on anything past their skill level. He happily responded while calling me boss and raced off to the other goblins with a selection of horned rabbit horns.

Since I don't have to worry about anyone else today, I've decided to go a little deeper into the forest, resulting in me finding, killing and eating the souls of a few new creatures. An armoured raccoon, a few seven coloured bats and a few more snakes. I received the skills {Grow Armoured shell}, {Echolocation}, {Loud Screech}, {Pump Up} and {Vampirephilia}. These are all extremely useful.

- Day 8

I have no doubt that stronger foes await me further in, so I've decided to use the materials collected to make some new gear. Using the pelts from the horned rabbits, I'm able to make some makeshift, almost tribal clothing. With a particularly long and hard stick and a sharp stone tied together with a small amount of thin rope from the storage, I'm able to create a spear. I did ask for permission to use the rope so gramps didn't mind. I offered another prayer for the girls before heading out again.

- Day 9

It's raining today and it seems that Rou has decided to do what I did yesterday, though he makes some good looking gear for his whole group. Speaking of which, I wonder where Gobudo is?

After searching for a while, I found the prideful little idiot and it turns out that I really didn't need to see what he was doing. In totally unrelated news, Gobudo is homosexual, as are a few others, evidently. I'm gonna go wash my eyes out in the cold rain now.

- Day 10

After a conversation with Gramps, I've discovered that monsters, which includes us goblins, are able to go through something called "existence evolution" or "Rank ups" which essentially allows us to achieve new forms and levels of power by gaining experience through fighting and levelling up. When I asked him how I would go about finding out my current level, gramps stated that all I needed to do was think about it. It turns out I'm level 89. Apparently that's quite surprising for someone only 10 days old; go figure.

When I asked gramps to explain more about evolution I got something of a tier list that explained the various forms. This includes the most common path of Goblin-Hobgoblin-Ogre, then there are paths one can go down only if a certain requirement is met. This could be something like Minotaur for those that pride themselves on their strength, or vampires for the more intelligent. One thing that really caught my interest however, is the Ghoul. Apparently a Hobgoblin will turn into one of these if they eat things like rotten food, rotten flesh or, the thing that caught my attention, Souls. It seems the likelihood of me becoming one such creature is high.

After conversing with gramps, I noticed a female goblin staring at me with a strange look in her eyes. When I called out to her she simply ran away so I decided to leave it for another time. Every so often as I worked on new gear, I would feel like someone was watching me from afar, though every time I looked back they would be gone. Because of this, I decided to turn echolocation on before going to sleep.
