Day 3

[Day 3]

I grew up again today.

My body had grown to the average size for a fully-grown goblin, roughly 1.2 meters with a lean build and visible muscles outlining it and my face gained sharper features.

I looked less like a goblin and more like a child with sickly green skin.

I looked around and saw the others from my generation had also grown up nicely.

Amongst them, I spotted one with the biggest build and white featureless eyes. He was bald just like the other male goblins.

I recognize the goblin as Kichi, the right-hand man of Rou.

I planned to recruit him too as he had great potential and was one of the future eight demon generals.

"You, come with me!" I called him out and said with a commanding tone.

Though I didn't want to sound so haughty, I had to do this so I could be accustomed to being a leader and commanding others.

The clueless musclehead felt called out but he still glanced around him before pointing at himself.

I nodded and gestured for him to follow me out of this cave room.

On our way out, we met with Gobuji and I decided to ask for information about the various habitats of monsters surrounding the goblin cave.

He was the oldest in the tribe and most familiar with the forest so I was able to know where the weak monsters lived, what to do and not to do while hunting in the forest, and which dangerous monsters I needed to avoid as well as the so-called boss of Kuuderun Great Forest.

I thanked him for the useful information and advice and I promised him another horned rabbit to thank him later.

I also asked if I could go to the tribe's warehouse.

I reckoned there'd be some good weapons there and he approved of my request.

I could even take anything from there as long as it wasn't excessive.

Thanking him once again, I entered the warehouse and picked a circular shield, a sturdy club, and a few knives.

The shield and club were for Kichi while I took the knives for throwing and dismantling purposes.

After the preparation was done, Kichi and I finally ventured into the west side of the cave where the habitat of horned rabbits was.

It was a small swamp where horned rabbits and a few other monsters cohabited.

Along the way, Kichi had not spoken even a word.

It seemed like he was a bit of a timid goblin despite his bulkier build than the average goblins.

Well, he was still a three-day-old goblin after all.

Too young to even hunt by himself and had little to no knowledge of the world around him.

"Kichi, aren't you curious why we are not picking fruits near the cave and instead getting deeper into the forest?" I initiated.

Kichi turned to look at me and replied "... to hunt?" unsurely.

Oh, it seemed like he was not that much of a blockhead.

"That's right," I nodded with a satisfied smile.

"We are going to hunt near the small swamp where monsters the like of horned rabbits, marsh slugs, and swamp turtles are frequently sighted. These three are our primary targets..." I continued.

"Horned rabbits are agile and hard to catch. Their horns are quite sharp so be careful of them. However, they often drop their guard when they eat..."

"Marsh slugs have a slippery body and their goo causes irritation on the skin and even melts the tongue so don't touch them and never eat them. Just use your club to smash them..."

"At last, the swamp turtles have hard shells and live in the swamp. They need to regulate their body temperatures regularly so they will leave the swamp to bask in sunlight. We will attack them during that moment."

Kichi was very attentive to the brief explanation of our games today that I said and nodded in understanding, and even raised some questions at times too.

He was a bit different from his counterparts, in a good way, as he was more intelligent and attentive.

After a while, we arrived at a small clearing where a swamp was located and I saw three horned rabbits drinking from the swamp.

I raised my hand, signaling Kichi to halt his step.

Aside from giving him a lecture about the monsters, I also taught him several hand signs that'd be useful in our hunt as we could not make too much noise, or else our prey would just scatter away.

I give a sign to Kichi, telling him to camouflage himself in lush thickets nearby, waiting to ambush.

Our green skin allowed us to easily blend in with the environment.

Meanwhile, I approached them from a different direction, ensuring they would not be able to escape with us pinching them from two sides.

I jumped at one of them, wielding a horn over my head and swinging it down, stabbing the horned rabbit squarely in its neck.

The other horned rabbits immediately fled in different directions.

One headed straight to the thickets where Kichi was lying in ambush.

He appeared from behind the bush with his club already swung down at the horned rabbit's head.

Its horn was beaten back into the skull and smushed its brain, effectively killing it.

While I watched Kichi's first kill, I didn't overlook the other horned rabbit as I untied the thinnest of the seven horns of the horned rabbits from yesterday's hunt I fastened around my waist with a vine.

I threw the horn at the fleeing horned rabbit, thus ending its life as it pierced through its heart.

It had not been longer than a few minutes after I spotted them and we already finished our hunt in under a minute.

"Good job, Kichi. You can eat the one you killed for breakfast."

After that, we ate the horned rabbits we each hunted.

Kichi, as a goblin, was gobbling up his meal raw but seeing me prepping and roasting my rabbit meat over a fire, he became interested and asked if I could teach him how to do that too.

I offered him a part of my roasted rabbit meat and his eyes shone at the first bite and asked for the horned rabbit that he killed, his portion, to be roasted as well.

I also agreed to teach him how to prep the meat.

We continued to hunt some more until sunset.

By the end of the day, we managed to hunt more than twenty horned rabbits, eight swamp turtles, and a lot of marsh slugs that I didn't bother to count.

On our way back, we also encountered a night viper sleeping on a tree branch and a unicorn beetle. I ate all of them roasted.

I acquired quite a great deal of skills from them: [Acidic Goo Generation], [Elastic], and [Rapid Healing] from the marsh slugs; [Hard Shell] and [Water Jet] from the swamp turtles; the remaining skills of the night vipers [Venom], [Sense Presence], and [Thermography], I was lucky to get all them this fast; and lastly, [Elytra Manifestation] and [Flight] from the unicorn beetle.

We arrived back at the goblin cave and roasted the rest of our games for dinner before going to sleep.
