Chapter 2: To the Castle We Go

I'm Tomi Yuriko, 18 years old highschool girl..Well, that was yesterday. Now, in a different world, I am Asher Makarios, 12 years of age. Daughter of Liza Makarios and Roy Makarios, farmers on the outlands of Krathus kingdom. Even though we're farmers, we do receive decent amount of money to get by everyday.

" Nothing changed, huh. " I said to myself while sweeping the front yard. I was talking about our financial status. If something bad happens, we're going to be on rock bottom again.

" But I guess everything worked out well since my mom is fine now. I should be thankful and content. "

' Oh-ho, already growing impatient? '

" I'm not. "

' Ufu, is that so? ' God said in a playful tone.

" I swear you're starting to sound more and more out of character. "

' Worry not, for I am still God. With that said, I shall keep my promise. But I need you to do something first. '

" What is it? "

' I want you to own Krathus kingdom. '

I stopped and dropped the broom that I was holding so dearly. " No, no, no, that's impossible! I can't! "

' Don't worry, I already set everything up for you. All you need to do is to go to the castle and talk to the king and queen. '

" As if it's that easy, not everyone can talk to the ruler of such a huge kingdom. "

' I am God, remember? '

" Why do I feel like you did something out of this world again for my sake "

Silence. Again.

" Seriously, you have a bad habit of leaving people on air. " I sigh to myself. " But then again, I guess I have no choice. It did worked out back when I was searching for a healer. "

Picking up the broom, I went inside to ask my parents about going to town, half hoping they would say no.

" Of course, if God sent you to town again, it must be for something really wonderful. " Dad said. They actually believed it, I shouldn't underestimate how religious my parents are.

" Mom, are you sure it's okay for me to head to town alone? " I asked Mom who is still resting on her bed.

" If God himself told you to go there, I know he will guide you and keep you away from any harm. " she said as she smile.

" I understand. I will be back before dinner. Take care, Mom, Dad. " I smiled at them and headed outside. I don't particularly need anything but my courage to face the King and Queen.

I'm not new with the town but I'm not that familiar with it either. Though, I do know the basic layout of the kingdom. Near the huge entrance of the kingdom, there are several shops for weapons, armories, accessories and potions. Not far from the shops, is the Adventurer's Guild where I hired Ethel. It's a huge castle-themed building, the guild have the typical sword and shield logo printed on all red banners outside the structure. After the guild, there are several inns, cafes and restaurants near the middle of the town. The very center is where I'm supposed to go. The Royal Krathus family's castle.

On my way through the gate, I noticed a familiar blonde haired healer.

" Ethel! " I called her out but I guess my voice might've been too loud. Everyone looked at my direction. She turned to me and smiled. Along with her is a scary looking tall guy with black hair. I can feel him staring down at me, feeling of wanting to crush me to pieces.

" Oh, it's been a few weeks, how is your mother? "

" W-We told her to stay on bed for atleast a week for total recovery. I'm really grateful, if you didn't come with me, my mom would probably be..gone now. " I looked down at the thought of losing my mom. If it weren't for Ethel, my mom could've died…

I snapped back from the gloominess when I felt a hand resting on my head. I looked up and saw the black-haired guy. His eyes that were once scary are now so gentle and kind.

" It's all fine now. " he said softly as he pat me. Though, his expression didn't change, you can feel his sincerity.

" I am a healer, it is my duty to help those in need of healing, besides, you gave a lot of money than needed. " Ethel said. " If you ever need help again, please do pay me a visit on the guild house. "

" Thank you very much! "

" We should be going now, we still need to report to the guild. I'll see you around. " she said and waved goodbye.

' Well, you won't need their help that much anymore once you become the princess. '

" Being a princess doesn't suit me. "

Since the day God promised to bless me and give me infinite money, I've been feeling conflicted. There's part of me who want it and a part who don't. It just feels like I'm cheating...

After half an hour of walking around, I'm finally near the castle.

" What do you want me to do once I reached the castle? "

' To change your life, you need to change your priorities. '

" Huh? What do you mean-- "

" Let go of me! " I looked behind me and saw a girl wearing brown cloak with the hood on.

" C'mon, little lady, I just want you to play with me. " Behind the girl is a huge muscular bald guy.

" I don't want to play with you! Let me go! " the girl shouted as she try to break free from the guy's hand on her arm.

" Why is no one trying to help her? " I asked myself.

" Because it's Barrel. " a guy behind me said. " He's part of the guild's elites. He got his position from killing thousands of goblins, alone. But rumors said he murdered his own party to get the reward for himself. "

" But we can atleast report this to the guild and let them- "

" Don't bother. Barrel is really strong, no one can go against him. This is a normal occurrence, it's better for the girl to just follow what Barrel says or else she would end up dead. What a poor girl. " He said and then walked away.

So just like that they would leave someone in need. They could try but they won't. Most of them just don't want to get involve. That is selfish and unfair.. and I hate it.

" God, you said you will bless me, right? Then please do give me strength. " I slowly walked towards the girl and the guy. " To beat the shit out of this guy. "

' That's what I want to hear. Leave it to me. '

At this point, you're not acting like a God anymore. But that's fine.

" Hey, you bald fat guy! "

" What? " He looked on my way. " What did you just call me? "

" Are you deaf or what? Let go of her right now! "

He stared at me and started laughing. " It seems this little girl right here wants to play with me too. "

" Yes, I do. Let go of her and we'll play. " I said with a smug grin.

He let go of the girl's arm and stood up. " Let's have fun. "

I slowly went closer to him. Closer and closer, until we're inches away from each other.

' Now! '

As God shouted, I lowered down and clenched my fist. Now prepare for the most powerful punch I'll ever do!

" Heaven Strike! "

I did an uppercut, hitting the guy directly to his jaw. With God's help, my punch became so powerful I can almost see a ring of air from the impact of my fist.

It's a K.O. Everyone went silent but then

" That kid actually did it! "

" How did you do that? "

" Did you drink any special potion? "

" Who trained you? I want to know! "

Crowd formed up around me to ask questions about what just happened.

" Sorry but I have something else to do! Bye! "

I escaped the crowd and went to one of the alleys nearby.

" Phew. Maybe that was too much of a show. "

" E-Excuse me. "

" Guh-- Oh, you're the girl from earlier. " that almost gave me a heart attack at such young age. " What are you doing here? You should go home. "

" No, I " she took off her hood. " I want to thank you for saving me. "

Now that I can see her face clearly without the hood, she's really beautiful. She have long silky red hair, amber-colored eyes and pointy ears. She's probably an elf.

" It's okay, I'm just glad I was able to help. "

" Also..I want you to come with me. "

" To where? "

" To my house. I-I promise it'll be quick! "

" Father, this is the person who saved me. "

" Thank you very much for saving my daughter. " the man sitting on the throne said while looking at me.

" Thank you for saving the princess!! " said the knight guards and maids.

" Would you like anything as a reward? " He asked me.

Why do things escalate way too quickly in this world?
