Chapter 2 - Purpose of Believing

Emilia : "Thank... you Jens."

Emilia was looking at Jens while tearing up and crying. She tried to hide her tears, that fell of her face.

Pack : "Lia.."

Jens : "Ah.. Are you alright?"

Emilia : "Yes... I'm sorry. Haha, I'm so silly."

Angel : "Not trying to ruin this moment, but can we please go to the Motion Cafe? It's almost dark, if we won't make it in time, Gold Breeze might sell the Insignia, which I cannot allow to happen."

Emilia : "Thank you, Angel. Yeah, let's go."

Emilia and Jens stood up, she wiped her tears and stopped crying. The group walked towards a lower district of the Capital City.

Jens : "So, Magic, Flux, Spirits, am I missing something else?"

Pack : "Angel, did you tell him about Semblances, Aura and Divine Protections?"

Angel : "I guess... not?"

Emilia : "Aura is the manifestation of one's soul and can be used for a wide range of abilities. The specific abilities and their strengths differ from individual to individual and are dependent on a number of factors, such as experience, training, and innate skill."

Jens : "It's like... your health points? When you have zero health points, you die?"

Pack : "Exactly, Semblances are unique powers that only a few people have. For example, I know a Semblance which is called the Semblance of Individual Illusions, which allows the person to create mental illusions to his target."

Jens : "Sounds... powerful."

Angel : "That's why Semblances are rare. Divine Protections, commonly known as Blessings, are powers that the Od Laguna gifts us. The Od Laguna is the core of this world, a giant spirit. Blessings allow people to be able to do something, which others aren't able to do so, like walking on water, or using Magic easily."

Jens : "Ah. Is that all I've to know for now?"

Emilia : "It should be enough, let's get my Insignia back!"

The group arrived at the Motion Cafe and entered immediately. A green haired boy stood in front of them.

??? : "Can I help you?"

Emilia : "Yes! I want to see Gold Breeze."

??? : "Sure. Felt! Can you come here, please? My name is Nathan... Nathan Harmonia."

Jens : "I've... heard that name."

"What the... I know that name... I'm not sure how, but I've heard it..."

Nathan : "I don't recognize you though."

Nathan is a tall, thin young man. He is fair-skinned with green eyes and long chartreuse green hair tied into a low fluffy ponytail and shorter pieces framing his face. He wore a white, mid-sleeved shirt with a black shirt under it, a pair of cider green slip on shoes and beige skinny fit pants, with a cube attached to his chain near his left hip.

Nathan also wears a black and white bracelet on his right wrist and a yellow rectangular tri-bracelet and a blue and black pendant on a chain around his neck. His most notable feature is his hat, which is white and black with a black peak.

Suddenly, Gold Breeze walked down the stairs.

Felt : "Hey! My name is Felt, commonly known as Gold Breeze. I know that you came for your Insignia, and you to arrest me."

Angel : "Sounds correct."

Felt : "The thing is, there is already a woman on her way to this cafe to bargain for this Insignia."

Jens : "A woman? Does——"

Jens started thinking about the scene he saw in his dreams and the woman with black hair, that was the only woman who is missing.

Jens : "Does... that woman have black hair?"

Felt : "What the... yes? Why the random question big bro?"

Jens : "Never mind, but Felt, Emilia really needs this Insignia!"

Angel : "If... you return it, I won't take you to jail."

Nathan : "That's against the Lugnician Mage rule."

Angel : "Then so be it, It's already post-work time anyway."

Felt : "Are you serious Kanade?"

Angel : "Yes. Please return it to the owner."

Knock Knock Knock

Felt : "That's... that's the lady. I had no appointments for today except her."

Nathan : "Emilia, Kanade and you, go in the closet!"

Angel, Emilia, and Jens ran in the closet and were watching the event through a hole in the wall. Nathan walked towards the door and opened it. A woman walked in. She has long black hair tied into one tail on the left side along with eyes that droop, giving her a gentle aura.

Nathan : "Your name, please?"

Elsa : "My name is Elsa, Elsa Granhiert from the Holy Kingdom of Gusteko."

Nathan : "I see, Gold Breeze is right here."

The woman walked in and sat next to the table.

Elsa : "Girl, did you do your job."

Felt : "Y—Ye—Yes"

Elsa : "What is it? Are you scared?"

Felt : "No! I just lost it. I lost the Insignia."

Nathan : "Excuse me, Elsa. But without the Insignia, you've nothing to search here for, so I request you friendly to leave my cafe."

Elsa : "..."

Felt : "Elsa..?"

Elsa : "...AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHGGGG..."

Suddenly, Elsa started to laugh.

Elsa : "You lost it?! OKAY! So that means you don't mind losing your head!"

Elsa grabbed two knives from her back and ran towards Felt.

Jens : "NO FELT!"

Jens, Kanade and Emilia revealed them selves and protected Felt.

Emilia : "Watch out Felt! Pack, use it!"

Pack : "Got it!"

Pack froze Elsa's legs and made her fall on the ground.

Elsa : "So you're a spirit user? I've never opened the belly of a spirit!"

Emilia : "I'm sorry, psycho but this won't be your first time!"

Emilia summoned multiple ice swords and threw them towards Elsa. However, Elsa blocked every shot with her Magic Cloak and started throwing knives at everyone.

Nathan : "Felt watch out!"

While a knife was flying with hyped speed towards Felt, Nathan jumped in front of Felt and...

Nathan : "Seliumin Akra!"

Nathan created a shining barrier around himself. Jens was hiding behind Angel, who had created a Wind Barrier.

Angel : "Calm down Jens. It's six against one!"

Elsa : "You clearly don't know I am. I'm Elsa Granhiert, the Blood Hunter! HAHAHA!"

Angel : "That's the alias she got when she murdered everyone in her village. Emilia, Nathan, throw every magic you have now!"

Nathan : "Fura!"

Emilia : "Al Huma!"

Both Nathan and Emilia started shooting magic towards Elsa, who was still under her Magical Cloak.

Nathan : "Ugh... my... My Mana, I don't have much le--"

Suddenly, Elsa jumped out of her cloak and threw a knife right through he throat, Nathan was beheaded under a second.

Jens : "NATHAN! Angel do something!"

Angel : "Uh.. stay here!"

Angel ran towards Felt.

Angel : "El Fura!"

Angel released an extreme blast of wind and pushed Elsa away out of the window.

Felt : "NATHAN! No.. It can't end like this, no... no..."

Angel : "Emilia! Try to heal him, we have some time left!"

Emilia : "Pa... Pack is in his crystal..."

Angel : "F... no.. Felt please, run away and live on!"

Felt : "No! I'll stay here"

Angel : "You don't understand! Elsa will come back in just a minute and kill us a——"

Suddenly, Angel started coughing blood, as Elsa had cut her throat. She was in no time back in the cafe. The fight wasn't even one minute long and Elsa had already killed two of them.

Angel : "Bluagh..."

Elsa : "How cruel. This world is so cruel, isn't it, Felt... Lugnica."

Felt : "You... You bitch!"

Both Jens and Emilia ran towards Felt and stood behind her.

Elsa : "Mind your next step, as my hands are quite bloody at the moment, and I don't want to kill someone of nobility."

Felt : "I'm not sure what you're talking about but you killed two of my friends! I'll send you to the rats and let them eat you up! You don't deserve to live in this world!"

Emilia : "Felt please, don't do---"

Felt : "Emilia, thanks. Sorry that I stole your Insignia, here."

Felt gave the Insignia back to Emilia.

Felt : "Sorry that both of you got caught up in this."

Jens : "Fe.. Fe"

Was Jens' response. But Felt left Jens' sentiments forever behind her as she dashed forward. There was a loud sound as she kicked off the ground, and it was as though a gale had suddenly blown through the cellar.

Just when Jens thought that Felt had vanished from his sight, he saw Elsa's body twist. A high-pitched sound ran out, and Felt clicked her tongue from Elsa's side. In Felt's hand was a small knife, and white Elsa's overwhelmingly fast reaction she was able to dodge Felt's attack.

Elsa : "Ah... So you also have the Divine Protection of Winds? Oh, how wonderful. The world must adore you...I envy that!"

Elsa grabbed her knife and Felt was cut down mid air.

Emilia : "Felt!"

Jens : "Oh no... you just killed three people... how can you?!"

Elsa : "You don't understand, do you? It's my job!"

Elsa ran towards Jens. Emilia tried to stop him, but her powers didn't work for some reason.

Emilia : "Jens! Watch ou--"

Elsa stabbed Jens in his back and he fell down on the floor. As soon as he started to feel cold, he realized that this is the event he saw in his flashback when he woke up.

Right after Jens fell, Emilia was stabbed too. Jens was bleeding and was losing too much blood, fatal amount of blood. Jens tried to grab Emilia's hand, like in his flashback. However, Jens' head was chopped off by Elsa.

That was the moment, that Jens lost his life——

But he wasn't gone. He was in a dark place. A place full of shadows, and Jens couldn't realize if he was sitting down, laying on the ground, floating or even alive.

??? : "I..."

Jens : "Where... Hello? Am I... dead?"

It was too dark to see something. However, the only thing Jens could see was a woman in front of him. A woman, wearing a shadowy dress. The dress moved as if a storm was approaching.

Jens : "Hey... where am I? What the fuck is going on!"

??? : "Believe...."

Jens : "What? What do you keep saying? Why do you keep saying random words?"

??? : "I love you... I believe..."

Jens : "Who... are you."

??? : "No, something is wrong. We can't meet, not yet. I'll wait for you."

Suddenly the shadowy woman disappeared and the world changed to a physical world. Jens couldn't understand what was going on, until he opened his eyes again.

Emilia : "Thank you... Jens."

Jens : "Ugh..."

Pack : "What's wrong with him?"

Emilia : "Jens? Are you alright?"

Jens : "Sorry but... what's going on--- WHAAAAAAAT?!"

"What the... was this all a dream? No... It was way to real."

Jens : "I.. I.."

Angel : "Are you alright? What happened?"

Jens : "I'm not sure. But..."

"I... I've already witnessed this event. No, did I just go back in time? Yes, it seems like it. But why and how? Could it be that lady?"

Jens : "Never mind me... I guess, but guys. I just realized we cannot go to the Motion Cafe like this. I... I'm not sure what is going on... but Felt is going to sell that Insignia to a murderer, Elsa Granhiert."

Emilia : "Elsa?"

Angel : "Huh... how... do you know that name?"

Jens : "Like I said, I have no idea. Let's think of another plan."

"I've got the ability to come back in time after I die?"

Emilia : "I trust you! But... what's your plan then?"

Jens : "Let me... think."

It was afternoon, Jens looked up at the sky and kept staring at the stars.

Jens : "Hmm... Wait, you really do believe in me?"

Emilia : "Of course! You are my reason to keep believing that I can possibly get my Insignia back."

Jens : "Hmm... I've got a plan!"
