19 Side Story 3: Mama's Magic Lesson

[Fina's POV]

I'm now 5 years old.

And for the first time in our village, a five year old will receive her own Analysis Bangle.

An accessory worn by children to learn about their own Status. And by 'Status', it is the term used to define the innate strength of an individual, which is then shown to them using that Analysis Bangle.

To be honest, I'm fairly excited. Hyaha~

Analysis Bangle are made from a special metal that are mined from the Dastrientel Mountain Range, which is about a few hundred kilometers from the village. This metal is also used for other items such as weapons and armors.

But for the Analysis Bangle, an Enchanter is needed and have them cast a special spell onto it for it to work. I asked about that special spell and about the Enchanter but I was told to just forget about it and try not to pry more into it.

I'm curious…

At any rate, commonly, children receive their Analysis Bangle at the age of twelve, which is accordingly, the first coming of the age for Aelves.

I was a bit bewildered about the early coming of age of the Aelves, since I was in the impression of Aelves living longer lives and reaches hundreds of years. But in this world, it looks like they're no different from Humans.

Muu. Talk about disappointing…

As for the numbers of coming of age, it looks like coming of age comes twice for the Aelves. First is the transition from a child to a youth. Then for the second one is the transition from youth to a lady or a gentleman, which comes when the youth reaches sixteen years.

But really… Experiencing coming of age twice? That's my first time hearing about such thing.

Anyway. Now I'll be receiving my own Analysis Bangle even though I haven't been blessed to be considered a youth.

I slightly feel special about it. Ehehe~

Well, there's also the case about me being a reincarnated being. Only Mama and Papa know about the fact, of course. But the others in the village have acknowledged my strength and judged me to be fairly deserving of the early privilege.

Fina: "Yes!"

In front of me is my Papa, Finedric, and is also the Village Chief.

Sera: "Listen carefully, okay~?"

I raised my hand vigorously and answered.

Today, Mama is teaching me all about magic.

I asked about how she could've just taught me when I started using magic. That was around… two years ago…? I think? I'm not really sure anymore since time fly by so fast while practicing magic. But she said that it's still too early for my body to be strained in magic practice.

Even though my soul has already matured, due to the fact that I'm a reincarnator, my body is still that of a child. There're still a limit how much a child can do, after all.

So to spend those times, I just read books about magic and sometimes practicing by myself. Though, I can't really say it was a fun experience… I still don't like wordy books…

As a result, I've become used to the sensation of activating magic from scratch.

Mama began reviewing the basics of magic activation.

Sera: "Listen up, alright~?"

First is the manipulation of Crysaztel inside the body. I've heard from Mama that people have Crysaztel contained in their body and that there is a specific capacity for us to store them.

It expands when leveling up.

But, guess what…?

I looked at my Analysis Bangle, only to find out that my Crysaztel Gauge reaching five digits…! It's actually 10,000! It's the maximum value!

By the way, an average person without a proper training in basic magic has a range of 100 to 200 Crysaztel Gauge. They differ from person to person, but that's about it. Yup.

That is for Humans. For Aelves, the average is 100 to 300. And Aelves' growth is much larger than the Humans.

As for an ordinary Human who spent their time training in magic and has gained a fair amount of level, their average range will usually fall within 2,000 to 3,000. Higher than that is something to be considered remarkably strong already. For Alves, on the other hand, ranges around 4,000 to 5,000.

I've heard that there are exceptional magician that has their CG around 9,000. But that's already in the realm of the legendary. They said that there's only one person even among all the races that has that number.

And then, and so, I learned that I'm super powerful like… Just super… But I'll go into details with that later.

Next in the process is the casting or incantation, which is also called the 'Causa.' Incidentally, it means 'pledge', which pertains to the words during the casting period. It's like an oath being done to gain the ability to use a particular magic. The word Causa is derived from a lost language in this world, or so I heard.

Causas differ only with each elements. Let's say, when I want use Meria type magic, there's only one Causa to chant for me to activate any kind of Meria type magic.

During the incantation process, I will inject Crysaztel to where I want it to materialize. To put it simple, after the input of Crysaztel, I will then choose what to use with the output. I usually go with my hands for starters.

There are items or weapons that can help a Magus use magic. Some can make the casting time faster, and some can amplify the output. Well, for now I'm not that inclined with using an item since I still don't have any problem with using my hand.

After the incantation process, comes the activation. The activation is done by voicing the magic name. There are other ways, like writing or drawing, but speaking the word is easier no matter how you see it. The magic only needs a recognition from the mind of the user to activate.

Some even practice activating magic with only their minds as a switch. It's easier for me to chant right now, so I'll do with it for now.

Now this is the most important part.

For all those to happen, one must have a Crysaztel Manipulation of at least 1%. Put it simple, just have the ability to manipulate Crysaztel to a degree, no matter how much.

An ordinary person starts with at least 5%, depending on the race. But for me, I already had a hundred percent. I'm still not sure as to why, though. That's why, I never had any difficulty in casting magic.

And that is what Mama has explained~! I don't want to think more than this… I feel like steam would come out of my head any minute now…

Sera: "Magic is a manifestation of a portion of the soul. The stronger your soul is, the stronger your magic will become. Commonly, it is associated with emotions, too. Joy, love, hate, anger, excitement, sadness, and many other emotions. They can become fuels for an even stronger magic."

Fina: "Myu? What about the Magical Attack in my status? Isn't the output's strength based on that?"

Sera: "U-Uhmm… Y-Yes. That's correct…"

*gasp*

R-Right…! Mama is like that…! She gets heated up with romance, drama, and passion, such things like those… I bet she wanted to impart that emotion to me, instead of superficial facts.

I'm also like that when I was enjoying my youth in the track in field back in high school. Friendship… Rivalry… Passion… Things like that. So it's not like Mama's feelings are foreign to me.

More like, I still like them!

It's just… even though I was surrounded by people at the club, I-I was still a loner. Ehehe…~

I-I can talk with others fine, okay?? I'm sociable enough! But I'm just not used to being around the center of attention. Running, on the other hand, is just something I enjoy. But…

I still prefer staying indoors and play games. I tried reading books because that guy also reads them, but I fall asleep the moment I pass by the first page.

Sera: "… ~~~"

Aaahh… She's red as a tomato and her eyes are slowly being filled with tears, she's getting a bit disappointed and embarrassed, I see…

Fina: "A-Ahh! Yes, Mama! Magic is love! Magic is happiness! I understand you, Mama. Really~! Hyaha~!"

Sera: "… Uuu… Paaaapa~~!! Our Fina is being a bully!!"

Mama ran outside while holding her blushing cheeks.

Fina: "Wa-Waaaahh~~~!! Sorry, Mamaaa~! I am not~!!"

Phew… Mama has calmed down, finally. I had to cook an elpoan pie to cheer her up again. Mama loves my elpoan pie. Well, it's just an apple pie, so it's no big deal to make.

Anyways, it's nighttime and I'm now lying on my bed, waiting for drowsiness to visit me.

But first, let's check my status again.

I inject Crysaztel on my Analysis Bracelet and it activated.

I'm not really sure, but I feel like I already heard the word 'The Lover' before and not just only from the games that I played. But I can't seem to remember when… Muu… It's kind of frustrating.

First of all, what are these 'Arcana' titles? Are they different from ordinary titles?

I've heard about the Titles from Mama. I was told that they come from an individual's achievements or accomplishments of a certain task. But… I don't know why I have these Arcana titles…

I don't even know how they work… Muu…

I understand the World Traveler and Summoned One. I traveled between worlds, and I was summoned into this world. So it's obvious that I'll get these titles.

Mama told me about being Summoned One before. She didn't go into details and she told me that she will explain things when I get older. But she made sure that I know that I'm summoned into this world.

I still remember her remorseful expression. Maybe she thinks it's their fault that I was dragged into this world…

Of course, I made sure to let her know that I'm now happy because of them. Of course there are a few regrets inside, but I'm not lying when I did say so.

And if what I think is true… Then there's a possibility that that guy is also here.

To prepare for that, I need to get stronger.

I will find him then.
