15 Chapter 12: The Demon Lord's Dungeon Part 2

Enough thinking. I should focus on what's in front of me for now.

Let's check these skills out. Mufufu.

[Liquid Body: The ability to have the characteristics and properties of liquid is gained.]

This means, my body can become liquid right? Let's try it out.

Activate Liquid Body and…

*boing*

O-Ohhh…! What is this! How wondrous! I turned into a slime!

Oh, wait… Not really. It's just that my body now resembles a slime's. My appearance is still the same. But this time, it's a like a water balloon that has the tail of a flame at the top. Though I look like this, as if I'm a mix of a fireball and a balloon of water, my body is only in liquid state. I'm still the same Poltergeist you all love and admire.

… You don't? … Really? I see…

Hmm… Still, not quite, I think. Since one of the main characteristics of a liquid is being able to maintain its shape without a container. But instead, right now, I have a definite shape. I guess it's the effect of something here. Not that I know, though.

[Sticky: The ability to stick onto a surface is granted.]

Easy to understand, simple. Let's try it out.

I jumped towards the wall and activate the skill after. When my body touched the wall, I got stuck on it like a Velcro. When I thought of peeling myself off of it, the skill deactivated and I fell down on the ground.

Ohoho. I'm sticky. Nice, nice~

Oh right. If I remember correctly, the slime was doing something earlier that is usually impossible for most monsters. Even though parts of its body was scattered and spread around, it was able to collect them and fuse them together.

If I'll be able to do that, then I think it will be useful. And so, let's try it. Mufufu.

First, I got a brick from the wall.

Hm, I hope this place won't suddenly cave in…

While wishing that from within my heart, I used Trigger to smash the brick against my side. I received a bit of damage because it didn't activate my Reflect skill, but it's not a damage that I should be worried about. I have my Omni-Physical Damage Resistance skill, after all.

Parts of my liquid body scattered around like it did with the slime. Now then…

[Regeneration: Regains health over time and recover any damaged parts.]

I turned off the Regeneration skill to test its capabilities.

Just as I thought, my body didn't regenerate and the scattered parts weren't moving at all. Does that mean, what the slime was doing wasn't because of this skill?

Hmm…

I focused my mind and tried to transfer my consciousness towards the scattered parts.

… Nothing. I guess it wasn't because of the skill. Or maybe, it was an innate skill for the slime species. Since I'm not really a slime and just gained the body of one, it's to be expected that I wouldn't be able to completely copy what it does.

Oh well. Too bad. But it's not like I wanted it that much.

I turned the Regeneration on and the scattered parts returned to my body and fused together as if nothing happened at all. Even my Health have started to recover little by little.

Now that I have this skill, I won't have to worry about damage any time sooner. I was even wondering if I could get a Health potion or something here, but I guess that solved the problem.

Alright. Let's continue the exploration.

Or so I'd like to do…

I reached a wide room after bouncing off towards the end of the hallway while testing things.

Uwahh… This one's wide… It's hard to think that this is underground.

It reaches a height of… Uh… I don't know. My Glow only reaches a few meters. Approximately 10 meters, if I use it on its brightest. So the ceiling must be higher than that.

Or so I thought…

It was only a meter higher than my Glow's reach. Ahaha…

That was anti-climactic. Well thinking about the exterior, it won't reach a height since this is the underground. And I think I haven't dived in quite yet to reach a depth.

At any rate, this room is extremely wide. Wait, did I perhaps reach the boss room or something? Isn't that too early?

*boing*

Wah? A slime again.

*boing* *boing*

Another slime.

And another.

And another.

Just after a short while, the floor is not almost covered with blobs of different colored slimes.

Where are these slimes coming from? Is this place a nest of slimes? Is the Demon Lord actually a slime?

A hoard of slimes is now blocking my way and it looks like they're not here to welcome me, just like the other one. They're all ready to attack me any second now. The sparks around their body are cool though.

I can just use Intangible and slip through them but I'll just be caught by another electric net from the slimes' skills.

I guess I have no choice but to fight my way through.

*zap!*

<Zoia Magic Resistance Lv. 3 acquired>

<Zoia Magic Resistance Lv. 4 acquired>

Well… Even if I don't do anything, everything will just be reflected anyways.

Hmm… Now let me try deactivating my Reflect skill.

… Hmhm.

Uwa…! I felt the attack a lot stronger…! I feel like numbing from all these attacks.

Looking at my Health Gauge…

HG: 164/199

Hmm… The damage is there. If I estimate their numbers, I guess their around 50 or so. But more are coming and have joined to attack me. With this result, I guess I still need to raise my Magical Defense.

They began their barrage of attacks one after the other, only to raise my Zoia Magic Resistance skill. Mufufu. Go on, go ahead. Make me all the more stronger.

Oh, right. Let's turn on the Reflect skill now. I don't want to lose Health unnecessarily.

This Reflect skill turned out to be overpowered. Well, to magic skills, that is. I'm getting more used to this numbing sensation to boot. I think I'll let this go one for a while and raise my Zoia Magic Resistance. This will be a good training ground.

Bonus Round!

And so, I spent the next few hours enjoying the spectacular magic display of the slimes. They continued to rain down Zoia Magic on me and are getting damaged by the reflected attack.

Because of their Regeneration skill, the damage is not that much to be considered deadly. But slowly, their Health is being chipped off from their gauge. As a result, some of them died in the process.

Other slimes that seemed to carry a different element also joined the fray.

Those are the ones with a different color. Each of them used different elements to attack. Now it became something like a fireworks show within this wide compartment of a room. The flashes from their magic skills creates a magnificent view.

I'd rather have popcorns though, instead of slimes. I kept consuming the ones getting near me.

But for those different element slimes, which I still haven't yet acquired their respective skills, I used Soul Consume to acquire the resistance and the magic skills. Because of that, I'm gaining magic resistance from every element that is present in this dungeon, while leveling up at the same time.

This is the ultimate leveling and powering up hack, if I say so myself. I'm such a genius.

Currently, I now gained quite a number of magic skills and their corresponding resistance skills. Thus, I learned most of the elements in this world that is used as the basis for magic attacks:

1.) Dastre Element – Dark or Sinister element

2.) Astre Element – Light or Holy element

3.) Fiare Element – Fire or Combust element

4.) Meria Element – Water or Freeze element

5.) Zoia Element – Electricity or Lightning element

6.) Grudan Element – Earth or Terrain element

7.) Wisona Element – Wind or Weather element

So far, these are the elements that I got to know of. Most of the slimes that came to attack had all these elements, I assume that these is already the complete set of all the elements.

While they were doing their job, I was checking around the magic and resistance skills that I acquired.

I'm sure it's needless to say that I did so while feeling all the attacks. Of course, that is without the pain of the damage, but I still feel the effect though. Like for example, I still feel the heat from the Fiare type magic attacks.

Well, because of that, I gained a new skill.

[Heat Resistance Lv. 1: The ability to withstand extreme rise in temperature is granted.]

Along with other skills that I got from consuming the colorful slimes.

[Fiare Magic Resistance: The ability to withstand Fiare Magic is enhanced. The level corresponds to the Fiare Magic skill damage that is decreased by the skill.]

[Meria Magic Resistance: The ability to withstand Meria Magic is enhanced. The level corresponds to the Meria Magic skill damage that is decreased by the skill.]

The rest of the skills became either Level Master or Skill Mastery, so these are actually the new skills that I got. Since I only consumed a few so far, there's not that much to acquire, just raising the levels of the skill mastery.

<Astre Magic Resistance Lv. 1 skill acquired>

Ohoho. I finally got it.

When I tried to consume a slime that has an Astre element, it felt like something was rejecting me when I did so. Well, the slime was consumed eventually, anyways. But the fact that it was different from when I consumed the other slimes is undeniable.

Later then I knew that it seems like Astre is my weakness. That's to be expected, of course, since I'm a ghost and all. Light or Holy attributes will be my weakness.

On top of that, it's a lot harder to acquire the resistance of Astre magic than the other elements. I had to consume a number of Astre type Slimes to acquire their Magic and Magic Resistance. I barely acquired the Resistance through receiving their attacks, though. Because like I said, something was 'rejecting' the skills inside me and prevents me from acquire them.

Oh well. I got them anyways, so no problem, no problem.

<(Dastre Magic Resistance Lv. 4), (Astre Magic Resistance Lv. 1), (Fiare Magic Resistance Lv. 5), (Meria Magic Resistance Lv. 6), (Zoia Magic Resistance Lv. 7), (Grudan Magic Resistance Lv. 3), and (Wisona Magic Resistance Lv. 4) merged and synthesized into: (Omni-Magical Damage Resistance Lv. 4)>

Ohhhh. So these are actually all the Magic elements in this world, since I acquired this skill. Just like how I acquired the Omni-Physical Damage Resistance, they all merged into one and became an all-damage resistance.

Mufufu. Nice, very nice.

Even though I can't use any cool stuff like magic skills, at least I got stronger in terms of defense. If this continues, becoming invincible is not a dream. Mufufu.

Well then, I've had enough of becoming a target practice for these slimes. I'll counter attack now, you got me, you all?

However, just right after that declaration, a loud bouncing sound, accompanied by crashing and rumbling was heard all throughout the wide room. The slimes also stopped attacking and went towards the sound, dragging their tattered body all along.

Hmhm… I wonder if I accidentally angered the slimes, to the point a greater threat joined the fray.

With another bouncing sound, I was proven correct. A large, no, a gigantic slime emerged from the shadows, glowing red as if to express an undeniable wrath. It's almost filling up the entire room. The light it emits nearly brightens up the otherwise dark room. Wherever I look at, aside from my back, I can see its blobbing body.

Analyze.
