9 Chapter 9 - Resurrection

Hands bound, and eyes blindfolded, the three companions were tied and lead into the trees. The elves guided the three blind travellers into the canopies. They seemed to climb for a long time and without much words, the elves tugged at the bounded three.

At last, they stopped at what seemed like their destination.

“Welcome, humans of the west.”

Said the tallest elf, as the traveller’s blindfolds and bonds came off.

“Thank you for having us. We hope we were not too much trouble in this realm.” Said the Princess as she half bowed.

“I am Sorwenji of Daagultha. We knew of your arrival as soon as you entered into the forest. But we did not want to give out our position of our capital and so we had you bound and blinded until the journey here. We hope it was not too much trouble for you as well.” Said the tall elf.

“No, it’s not much trouble at all.” Courteously replied Hoshiro. “You are wise to have us not know your capital’s location. I would have done the same. we have a request to be made to you. I am Hoshiro of Kanegawa, this is Lance, and this is Merillion both from the kingdom of Londawn. The three of us are here because we would like to find an elven companion to come with us to end the rule of the Demon Lord and his siege on the nations.” Said Hoshiro, straight to the point.

Laughter broke out all around the hero. After sometime, the tall elf replied.

“Alas, that was a funny notion you have. Tell me, young one, how do you expect to defeat the Demon Lord with only your level of skill and magic. In fact, I sense no magical properties from you. You, who claim to lead this quest.”

“I have powers that you have never seen before and I can prove it.” Said Hoshiro in the face of adversity.

Then again, the elves broke out laughing, all but one. Hoshiro noticed a young elf who held a long staff to the side of the tall elf, but did not laugh as the others have laughed.

“Show us, then, your abilities.” Asked the young elf.

All became quiet and they all focused on Hoshiro.

Hoshiro clicked on his HUD and checked out his abilities:

Currently level – 7

New Skill:

Animation Level 2: Resurrection – The ability to revive someone or something who died not more than 6 hours ago.

After having viewed his power upgrade, he then proceeded to speak.

“Bring me something that had died not long ago.” Said Hoshiro. He made a bet, but wasn’t sure if it would work, but he had to tried to impress the elves.

As instructed, one of the elves brought a dead butterfly that recently passed away. The elf handed the butterfly to Hoshiro.

Without a word, he wet his lips and then came to kiss the butterfly.

To the amazement of all, the butterfly came back to life and fluttered away.

“Truly magical!” Exclaimed the tallest elf. “We have no magic to bring back the dead… How was that possible?”

“Now would you trust us and our quest?”

This time, the young female elf came to the forefront and said.

“Father, let me join them at once. I can be of serve in vanquishing the Demon Lord.”

“Larael, you put your life in danger….” Said her father, the tallest elf.

“I am prepared to lay down my life for a chance to break the siege of the enemy and bring peace back to our land.”

“Very well. Travellers, my daughter will assist you in this quest. You have my blessings.”

Thus our new companion joined Hoshiro’s entourage.

Larael, the Princess of the elves, was no more than 5 feet tall. She was stil young. Her age of 237 years were still relatively adolescent years. She wore a dress made of silk and elegrant pauldrons lined her shoulder. She had a dagger, a short sword, but her primary weapon was a long staff with a crystal at the tip, of which it was lit against the night.

Larael, although considered young by her race, was wise and composed. She took the time to understand Hoshiro and his company.

“I have seen many magical feats, but none of which are quite like yours’ Hoshiro. Your magic is otherworldly.” Said Larael to the hero.

“Maybe that’s why I’m qualified to be the hero.” Returned Hoshiro.

“Perhaps. But you will still need our help. You are not a one man army. You will still need to be healed. I also sense no magic ability from you, which makes me more puzzled and curious as to how you can perform magic like resurrecting the dead?” Inquired Larael.

“I cannot tell you why I have these powers, but I can tell you, why I need these powers to defeat the Demon Lord.”

“Very well, I can see your point. But if you can, teach me how to resurrect the dead, so that I may be of more service to everyone.”

“Aye. If I can.” Said Hoshiro, making note that Larael was sincere about helping out.

Their conversation ended and Hoshiro went to his temporary abode in the forest.

In fact, the company stayed within the elven kingdom for more than 2 weeks, stocking up on the elves’ butter bread. They also got to exchange ideas for travel.

Hoshiro took the time to level up. He continued to practice drawing intensively. He also aimed and shot his plasma pistol to great precision. He did not stop practicing, and within 2 weeks, he was able to level up more than 10 levels. He had gotten considerably stronger. Yet his team mates also did not sit idle and they too raised their powers and levels.

Hoshiro couldn’t help but look at the team’s stats on his HUD
