36 The Butterfly flapped its wings

"The winner is Akimichi Chouji!"

After the referee declared me as the winner, the audiences were all exploded in cheers. Their shout and claps were all deafening, more than the soccer supporter when their favorite player scores a goal.

I went to the bathroom and asked Murasaki about what happened and why Gaara had that kind of reaction but not with Sasuke. Luckily, he still has the energy to stay awake and answered me.

'For the love of the father, what did I just see?'

Sarutobi Hiruzen, the Third Hokage, was seen falling into a daze before the loud cheers of the audiences woke him up.

'Oh no, I must act quickly before Danzo snatch him!' He then clapped his hand to summon an Anbu and gave him an instruction.

Hiruzen took a quick glance at the 'Kazekage' and smiled in a mysterious way.

"Quite a shocking performance, isn't it?"

Meanwhile, the peoples from the hidden sand village and hidden sound village were in a loss about what to do. Their original plan was to attack during the panic and confusion caused by Shukaku, but Gaara, the host of the said Bijuu was quickly defeated even before he was able to transform into his Bijuu mode. Thus made their plan thrown out of the window.

Currently, Gaara was knocked unconscious and there was not any sign of Shukaku taking over. And they decided to postpone the plan and waiting for the instruction from their 'Kazekage'.

Unknown to them, their operation was already known to Konoha and it was their own people that leaked their information.

A month ago,

Kakashi was asked by Asuma to help him to train his genin student and proposed a joint training, seeing that he did not have any reason to refuse, Kakashi accepted. Besides, Asuma promised to give him his 'book collection' which almost got confiscated by Kurenai. That offer immediately made Kakashi accepted Asuma's joint training request and to give Shikamaru a few tips about sword art.

So, Kakashi was on his way to buy a few wooden swords for training after he took care of the spy that almost took Sasuke away and reported to the Hokage. Now, the sun was already set and the moon was shyly hiding behind the curtain of clouds.

On his way, he saw his fellow Jounin -Gekko Hayate- was fighting against a man wearing a sound village forehead protector and a black mask on his face. Seeing that Hayate was beaten badly with a large wound on his shoulder, Kakashi rushed immediately. He lifted his forehead protector and his left Sharingan was there for the world to see.

Kakashi silently used the chakra scalpel on his right hand as he flickered behind the black-masked man and stabbed into his back. To Kakashi's surprise, his attack passed right through his opponent and the said man was turned into smokes, literally, only to be reformed above him with his Kunai out to stab him.

With a swift hand sign, Kakashi substituted himself with a nearby rock as he took Hayate away. And this time, he used a flashy technique to attract the attention of the others as he had the advantage of home ground.

Kakashi gathers lightning onto his left hand, and the high concentration of electricity produces a sound reminiscent of many birds chirping. And with the electricity gathered in his hand, the dark surrounding was lit.

"[Chidori]!"

With a bright flash of light, Kakashi zoomed in to the black-masked man. Which like before, turned into smokes and flew to the side. But, to the black-masked man surprise, when he was already reformed his body to counter-attack, on Kakashi's right-hand was an almost transparent sphere with the size barely bigger than his palm. Kakashi spun his waist and slam the chakra sphere into the black-masked man's body.

'[Rasengan]!'

When that sphere hit him, he was blasted away and he was forced to flee because of his injury. Unfortunately for him, Kakashi's reinforcement already arrived. As Jiraiya was coincidentally was in the nearby brothel to do his 'researches', he was the first the rushed to help. Thus, with a swift combination, they ganged on the black-masked man and knocked him unconscious to interrogate him later. But when they took his black-mask, Kakashi was surprised to see a familiar face under it or at least one with too many similarities.

'Yamato...?'

They decided to immediately go into the Hokage directly after they gave Hayate to the next arrived Anbu to be taken into hospital.

Jiraiya went in first then he gave a sign to his sensei that immediately understood that he wanted a private conversation, he took the black-masked man with him, and told Kakashi to fetch the head clan of the Yamanaka, Inoichi, under Hokage's name.

Jiraiya sealed the room with more fuinjutsu and knocked out cold all of the root operatives that he spotted.

"Why are you letting them spy on you?"

Hiruzen sighed then smirked a little, "I let them know what I want them to know, I don't want to act step by step for this issue. Danzo must be dealt in one swift motion, and now is not the right time yet."

Thus after Inoichi arrived, they started to read the black-masked man's mind. From that, they were able to know the whole plot about the sand's betrayal along with the sound and the cloud's funding. But, besides the first two, the cloud's involvement was not able to be proven. From the black-masked man's mind, they also found out that his name was Tenzo and he came from a reclusive clan named Iburi.

Hiruzen glanced at Kakashi, which Kakashi replied with a nod of confirmation. Iburi clan was a clan that massacred by Orochimaru a few years back with only a single survivor that Kakashi and Yamato saved. After knowing the full story, Jiraiya's mind spun rapidly and came into one scheme.

Acting ignorant and be prepared for the attack.

Because they need to adhere to the peace treaty, least the cloud found an excuse to start another war and to gain the moral high ground to gain more benefit.

But, for that to happen, their movement and involvement need to be unknown to all except for their selected few. Thus, once again through the night, Kakashi was tasked to fetch the head of all noble clans, except for the Uchiha, plus the head of Nara clan and Iburi Yukimi, the sister of their captive to 'coax' Tenzo for his cooperation.

The chain of events made by the flap of the 'butterfly wings' continued, but it's yet to be known what kind of storm it would make.

Thus, back in the present time.

Inside the exam site where myriad of peoples gathered to watch the chunin exam, Kakashi was seen leaned on the side in the spectator area while covertly eyeing Baki, one of the sand's Jounin, with a shuriken twirled on his thumb.

The Hyuga was responsible for watching the north side of the village, while the south was tasked to be watched by the Aburame. The Akimichi was stationed on the outer wall as the assault team together with the Nara, and the Yamanaka was to maintain the village barrier.

In one of the spectator areas, Tenzo's eyes were cold as he gazed at Orochimaru, he already knew the truth about his clan's massacre with more than one proof and he was thankful to both Kakashi and Yamato to save his sister. And now he demands revenge, as the saying goes, blood calls to blood.

The gunpowder already thicks in the air, waiting for the fuse to be lit before it exploded.

Today, blood was destined to pour like rain.

Today will be marked as the day of tragedy.
