1 Life but in Another World?

I was amazed at the view. I was perched… I don't know where really. I think I was somewhere in outer space. Bright, burning stars twinkled across the heavens, as jagged rocks circled across the heavenly bodies. I turned my head, to marvel at everything, then burned my eyes staring at the sun. I'd love to talk more about it, but as of that very moment I was sent into free-fall by some unknown force tugging, no, dragging me through space. Every breath seemed harder to draw than the last, and I could feel frost forming on my skin.

For a moment I looked at the girl who jumped at me. It's her. The girl I saw in the dream.

"Hello. Human kid. We'll meet again." She smiled as I instantly recognized her.

"Wait, I-"

My senses dulled, and everything went null. The space I was in for a moment went blank. I couldn't move. Couldn't breathe. But, it didn't hurt. All I could see was endless darkness.

Then there was a bright light, and I began to hear ambient noise. I rubbed my eyes and tried moving my limbs. No dice. What happened to my energy? Why do my limbs feel weird?

Someone lifted me. Was I this light? Slowly, I opened my eyes and I saw a beautiful girl and beside her was a middle-aged guy.

This pair reminds me of my parents. kinda miss them now. Wait, do they even miss me? Well, they didn't care about me in the first place. Mom was a deadbeat. My father's a drunkard, which is why my mother divorced him. After that, my father blamed it all on my sorry ass. I don't know why I didn't leave that house sooner but I think it's because I still pity creatures like him.

But before that,

The middle-aged man raised me. I stared down at him and laughed.

The dude had braids and a 3-day beard. He was shirtless, and only wore beat-up pants and boots. From his side hung a bastard sword that looked like it could do some damage.

Not gonna lie, chuunibyou if I've ever seen it.

"Honey," he laughed. "He just laughed!"

He hugged me close to his heart and planted a slobbery kiss on my forehead.

Hey, hey, put me down! I thought. Easy on the chest!

Then he handed me over to someone. And I went completely still.

Silver hair, a sharp nose, deep green eyes, and long ears- Wait long ears? An elf?!

Weird. I thought. Strange strangers.

"Hey, where am I?" I tried yelling. "Can I go home now?"

But all that came out was a weird goo-goo-ga-ga. Which sounded way more depressing than how the movies depict it.

I hope this couple will do better than my parents.

"Can you tell me where I am?" I tried saying but it didn't reach through them. More of the coo-ing noises.

All I could see were these two idiots looking at me as if I was a laughing stock.

"Cute!" Yelled the girl.

"He got your eyes and your nose." The other girl smiled as she looked at me adorably.

"Hmmm. Someday you'll be an excellent fighter like your father." Proudly, the middle-aged guy proclaimed as he shot a thumbs up at me.

Wait, father? Eyes and nose? And the small hands- Don't tell me! Did I reincarnate?

This guy is calling me his son

My "Mom" probably isn't human

This tiny body that can't speak is a few hours old at most.

They've printed an onesie with "Zophiel" on it, so that must be my new name.

After all my assumptions were confirmed I later realized that this is another world. I think my mother's race is an elf and my father (who does stupid faces on me) is… human, maybe. No human I've ever seen before got muscles as he does. All Aight, where does my literature take me… Minotaurus? No, he doesn't have horns but one thing is sure, there are other races with intellect.

Or so I would like to hope.

15 months later

I've learned to talk, or at least I knew how to talk before. I just lacked teeth back then.

After learning bit by bit about this world (currently explored in my house), I realized that my new family might be stuck in this world's medieval age. They don't have the internet, no heated shower, hell, no decent music, let alone headphones.

My vocal range is limited to "Mama" and "Papa", but maybe that's not a bad thing, because it makes it easier to call for them whenever I uncork one in my diaper.

I thought I went back in time (were there elves back then?) but I figured that I was wrong. One time I stumbled inside a library while trying to get a book, the book fell onto me. Even though I understand their language, I couldn't read. It was written in different letters. It looked like this weird mash-up of hieroglyphs and runes. It had drawings of different variations. Something like from a manga comic. Then my mother called me.

"Zophiel, where are you?" She found that I was puzzled as I tried to read a book. "That's called magic. You'll learn it when you've awakened."

"Magic… me… awaken… when?" I tried as hard as I could to say.

"Darling? DARLING!!" She yelled. "HE JUST SPOKE HIS FIRST SENTENCE!!!"

"What, what did he say? Was it 'my dad is so cool?' 'I just wanna be like him?'" He smirked.

Is this my father? I mean he's better than the last but… How can I handle this cringe?

I tried rolling over. I spotted the book from earlier. It was flipped open to a cross-section diagram of an elf.

I furrowed my brow and craned into taking a closer look. Upon looking at it, I saw these unusual lines through its body.

"Mom… wha… is it?"

Tried to be adorable because I need serious answers.

"That is called mana. Those lines show something called the energy flow. Can you say that?"

Does it look like my gums are strong enough?

"oww?" I said. Self note: (Practice the H-sound later.)

"Well, we all generate mana. And when we use certain spells, the energy flows throughout the body, releasing a specific amount of mana and condensing it into the specified attribute." Said my dad proud and mighty as always.

He sounded like some shut-in nerd-geek that lives in a secluded room with greasy body pillows and week-old opened chip bags. Does he even think that a 15-month-old baby understands those? I mean I'm special but… this dude.

So it's channeling your energy in your body. Focusing on the main points of release and that would be the spots with a dark dot here. Well, the points highlighted in the book. The brain, heart, stomach, elbow joints, and knee joints. With enough circulation, I should produce something.

I tried as hard as I could to feel my mana's presence but… I can't feel anything. Why? Age? Body structure? What do I need? C'mon, magic is something I could only imagine but now that it's here, why can't I pull out anything?

I made a face as if I had constipation. So my mother took me and massaged my stomach. I relaxed my body, remembering the messages she gives me every night before I go to sleep.

But wait?

Woman, woman, let me go, I need to go-! I guess not everything goes well for me.

"di… bowk… wead?" I should relax first. I need to be able to read the contents at least.

"Oh, how cute, of course, I'll teach you anything." She smiled adorably at me. Am I that cute? I've never seen myself in the mirror though.

(Hey, I've got pointed ears! I can rock with it. Perks of being a half-elf? And my hair is crazy. Like crazy streaks of black and silver.

I might even pick up a harem in a few years.)
