1 Overall Book Notes

This book originally came to me at a point when I was dealing with a very difficult time in my life, and with the emotional fallout that came with it. I was frustrated with how certain people conducted themselves, and how narcissistic, entitled, and self-centered they were. And in some ways, still are. This was something I wanted to explore through writing.

At the same time, I was noticing some inconsistencies with certain stories. More importantly, I saw stories that purported to have strong female leads, but were actually just fetishizations of the "ideal" woman. I didn't like that at all, and wondered if I could write something where the women of the story could go against that grain.

On top of that, there are huge political upheavals happening in some of the most powerful countries in the world, and that's incredibly worrisome. Many people are losing their livelihoods to people of obscene power, wealth, and influence, and there doesn't seem to be an end to the suffering. And I definitely wanted to write about that.

I've had this idea where there are multiple dimensions in our universe, maybe they're all hidden away from each other, maybe some are visible to others, maybe residents from one can end up in another. And that there was something out there in the universe that was eating all these dimensions. I call it the Fractal Universe - check out my website for more info.

Anyway, I wanted to tie all these things together and write something truly epic. And since I'm a huge fan of isekai and space opera, I decided to put all of those elements together... And Ravens of Eternity was born!

I wanted to create characters who could rise above all of the things that bothered or ate away at me. It was my goal to rebuild a world where people - women in particular - had agency against powers that kept them tamped down and suppressed.

I hope I'm able to do this skillfully, and I hope you enjoy the story!
