16 chapter 16

A week had passed since the gild was sent to limbo and I went back to school, Annie and Andrew were happy to see me. Shreya had written me a note saying I had been absent from school because my nana, being Shreya's mum, had been taken to hospital, the doctors knew she wouldn't survive for long and because I never really knew her we had decided that it would've made her happy to get to know me before she died, we lost her on Friday, the funeral took place on Saturday and I was back in school on Monday. Of course all this was a lie Shreya's mother had died two decades ago, but no one else in school knew that so it was okay.

We were sat in home room Monday morning. Mrs Chadwick was doing the register

"Natalie, George, Kyle, Ryan, Steven" and the pupils were answering

"Here miss, here miss" but Mrs Chadwick stopped due to a knock on the door, she opened it to reveal a younger student from year seven, or junior student

"Yes?" She asked

"Morning miss, sorry to disrupt your class but mr Peterson wants to see Raven in his office" the kid said all heads turned to me I tried to shrink in my seat

"Very well" mrs Chadwick said then turned to me "Raven?" I stood slowly, the class room was silent some kids, like Chloe, were smiling whilst others looked sympathetic they all thought I was in trouble, was I in trouble? Did he figure out the letter was a lie? No one was ever called this early to heads office I must've done something really bad.

I walked behind the kid but at the end of the corridor he turned right

"Where are you going, office is this way" I told him pointing left

"I'm going home room, I wasn't told to stay with you" he shrugged then left I turned left and walked out of H block I turned right to go to the office, I opened the door to the building and walked in, I was greeted by Ms Hurst

"Ahh Raven, good morning dear"

"Morning Ms Hurst" I answered she smiled

"Mr Peterson is in his office, he's waiting for you" she announced I nodded and walked to his office, I knocked on the door lightly

"Come in" he called I took a deep breath and opened the door mr Peterson was standing at his desk, he always did this to greet his students, or as he called them, guests, there were papers scattered all over his desk with a lamp and a few files his desk was mahogany it was beautiful

"Raven come in come in, this is Skylar" he was saying pointing to someone across his desk I turned to see a blond girl she had blue eyes and her hair was shoulder length she was wearing our school uniform, which consisted of maroon shirt with a red tie and grey pants or skirt, and black socks and shoes

"Hi" she greeted sticking her hand out for a shake I smiled and shook her hand

"Take a seat, both of you" Mr Peterson said, we did "now Raven, Skylar is new to our school, and seen as though you are our top student I was hoping you could take Skylar under your wing?" I nodded

"Sure sir, it would be my pleasure" I assured him calming down, knowing I wasn't in trouble ha Chloe, put that in your pipe and smoke it, I thought, he smiled widely

"Great, Skylar is the daughter of one of my closest friends, she comes from America" he told me

"Wow great" I shrugged not knowing what else to say

"I have made sure that Skylar is in all your classes, she must stay with you even at break and dinner" he explained, I nodded telling him not to worry "right home room will be over soon, you two may go to your first class" he told us standing up we stood too and left the office.

We walked the small distance to E block,0₩ English with mrs Riley we made small conversation on our way I found out that Skylars dad got a new job here in England so they had to leave, apparently Skylar is British but when she was three years old her family moved to America and now they were back. I also found out that Skylar was a cheerleader at her old school, she had no siblings, just mum and dad, I told her a bit about me. She thought it was exciting that I have two mothers.

When we walked into the class only the teacher was there

"Ahh Raven, you're early today" Mrs Riley commented

"Yeah miss, this is Skylar, she's a new student" I introduced pointing towards Skylar

"Good morning ma'am" Skylar shook her hand

"It's a pleasure, hope you are a good and well behaved student" Mrs Riley prayed then let go of her hand "you know usually, new students are late it's amazing you're early" she told us, we laughed at that then Mrs Riley handed me some papers "here put one each desk, make yourself useful" she told me I smiled doing what she said. She then told Skylar to sit anywhere she wanted as she didn't have a seating plan, she was the only teacher I had who didn't believe in seating plans 'you kids go through friends as often as you change your underwear, you can't possibly be made to sit next to each other for the whole year, sit where you like' she had shrugged at the beginning of the year, you see we were paired up a lot during the year so to save time she would pair us with the person next to us if we were enemies that day it wouldn't work very well hence her plan of sitting where we liked,the desks were made to sit two people, these desks were used through the whole school, except drama, in drama the desks were made to seat five students because we always worked in groups. In this class there were three rows of five desks. We had two extra desks near the window, which was good because now our class had thirty-one students.

Once I was done putting the papers on each desk I went and sat next to Skylar on one of the desks in the middle we sat looking through the paper, it consisted of four A4 sized sheets of paper stapled together, it had questions on the first page, the rest of the booklet was empty.

Soon the class started to flood with students, then Chloe walked in

"Well, well, well if it isn't miss trouble" she sniggered folding her arms across her chest her clones copying her

"What, where?" I asked looking around the classroom then looking at her annoyed face I smiled knowing I annoyed her

"You, b****, you're trouble" she whisper shouted going red with annoyance

"Ohhhh" I pretended to finally understand "yeah sorry to burst your bubble but I didn't get into trouble, head wanted to see me to ask if I was ok, what with my gran and everything, he said it would be ok if I wanted to go home" I lied shrugging it wasn't a complete lie I didn't get into trouble she went redder and I'm sure I saw smoke coming out of her ears she walked away

"Who was that?" Said a voice next to me it was Skylar I had forgotten about her

"Oh that, that was Chloe she's the school b****, and in terms you'll understand, she would be a cheerleader in your school" Skylar looked angry

"Look I don't know what you've heard but not all cheerleaders are b****es some are nice with nice friends" she took her book bag and her paper and walked to another desk next to the window and sat down next to Chloe, who was on the other side, they started talking but I couldn't hear the conversation. Soon though Chloe stood and walked to a different desk looking angrier the lesson was a blur all I know is that the paper we got at the beginning was course work that we had to do we had two weeks to do it.

At the end of lesson I saw Skylar was ready to leave so I gathered my things and walked out after her as she walked down the corridor leaving the building

"Sky, hey Skylar wait up" I called, she didn't listen "Skylar, come on dudette, I'm sorry" that did it she stopped and turned around, she looked like she would punch me "I'm sorry, ok I didn't mean to upset you, I guess, I guess I shouldn't judge, I'm sorry, friends?" I asked putting my hand out for a shake she shook it, and laughed

"It's ok, I guess there are a lot of stereotypes around, now dudette?, what on earth is that?" She asked

"A female dude, got it from the smurfs" both of us laughed and walked to our next class.

After morning classes we made our way to the dining hall, we met Annie and Andrew there and after introductions we ate lunch in the hall.

we were sat eating when I decided to learn about Skylar

"so Skylar, what's America like" I asked as I moved my chicken pasta around my plate

"It's great, my school was amazing, I miss my friends" she answered putting her fork down she looked upset, Andrew, who was opposite her, touched her hand and stroked it in comfort, she looked as his face and smiled

"We can be your friends Skylar" he told her, her smile grew

"Thanks guys, you're great friends" she said happily looking at each one of individualy

The day went uneventful after that, after school was out I went into the girls toilet, I looked around before I went in, then I went into one of the cubicles, again, I made sure the coast was clear, then I 'blinked' over to Shreya's house, I put down my book bag then walked into the kitchen Shreya was in there washing some plates

"Hey there, how was school?" Shreya asked, drying her hands on a towel

"good actually, got a new student today, from America, its up to me to show her the ropes" I told her

"Aww how nice, Shreya told me "maybe you could bring her over some time, for tea" she was saying

"Yeah? cool" I took an Apple from the fruit bowl then conjured up some sandwiches, I then proceeded to the living room I put on the t.v. then switched to 'how I met your mother', I put my feet on the table then started to watch.
