Attempted Escape?!

'I know this is a family thing. Don't get yourself all worked up Kassy, I'm sure everything will turn out fine.' He bent over and kissed me on my cheek.

Even though I had expected it, it still made my heart race.

'Thanks George.'

He nodded and walked away.

Mum was still home when we got there but Frank had gone to his workplace.

'Mum, I think we might have run into some problems.' Alicia sat down beside mum.

'I know. I thought Nate was smarter than this.' Mum sighed.

I did not understand what she was talking about but it was clear to me why she looked worried.

'What happened with Nate?' Mauve asked.

'He was caught trying to escape prison. They are transferring him to somewhere more secure. I doubt they'll let us visit anymore.' Tears welled up in her eyes.

'Nate tried to escape? Why on earth would he do that?' I shouted.

I hated myself and that day, everything bad was happening. It was almost as if I was being punished.
