1 Welcome to the Academy

Jack Faye opened his eyes to stare at a blank ceiling. He was covered in a cold sweat, a side effect of yet another nightmare. It was still dark outside his window. He looked at his alarm clock. The time read 4:55 a.m. in a bold red glow. Sighing, he decided to get up for the day, even though he didn't have to be on campus till 9:00 o'clock.

His morning rituals consisted of doing an advanced yoga routine, some tai-chi, and a training regimen to maintain his core strength. A hot shower and healthy breakfast follow soon thereafter. he checked his pockets, threw on a Jacket, ran his hands through his hair and headed out the door.

Jack checked his watch, Icwas now 8:05 a.m.The campus was roughly five miles from his home. He checked his watch, which reads 8:05.

He thought for a moment, 'Yeah, I have enough time for a run, cool.' He decided not to take his bike. About twenty minutes into his run, it started raining. Another ten minutes in, and it began really pouring. By the time Jack got to the gates, he was completely soaked, and he only has five minutes to get inside.

As he arrived at the main assambly hall, the clerk inside the door gave Jack a thorough once over, frowning, 'what is this sopping wet kid thinking, coming to school looking like that?' The clerk handed him a pamphlet and a pin. He was a bull of a man that made the full sized desk look as if it were meant for a child, only because it was him sitting on the other side of it.

"I'm Professor Forge," He says in a voice of rolling boulders, "I'll be your P.E. teacher this year freshman. Welcome to the Altier Academy of Arts. Please put that pin on over your heart. The pamphlet has a map of the campus and a legend of classes and and their teachers. please take a seat. The student president will be addressing the assembly soon," Said the bull of a man.

Jack couldn't believe his luck. He had made it. Out of a life of living paycheck to paycheck, so that he could afford going to a public school, to getting a full scholarship at the prestigious "Triple A" (Looks like my luck is finally turning around) He takes the seat closest to the door, as few more stragglers come in and take seats. in the loud room.

A coaxing elf of a girl sat down next to Jack, and introduced herself, "Greetings, My name's Lizzy O'Connell. I really like all the detail you put into your appearance, Mr...?" She looked every bit the bonny Irish lass. from the long curly red hair and bright green eyes to the freckles covering her face in a strip across her nose.

"A pleasure to meet you Ms. O'Connell. You can call me Jack, and I find you're appearance charming," Jack replied in answer to her question.

Just then, the room went quiet. as an elderly man with a long white beard and long white hair too the stage.

"Good morning to you all, I am the Head Master at this Acadamy. My name is Benjamin Bellmore , I hope you all have come to learn great things this year. and without much further adue I give you this years student president." announced the old man.

A young woman with skin as pale as the moon and hair as black as midnight. walks up to the podium as the headmaster walks away.

"Greetings to all the familier faces, and greeying to all new acquaintances. I am Rose Ravenscry. I am this years student presedent. I expect great things from all of you this year. Like every year we'll have a tournament this year. how well you rank in the tournament will decide on how many perks you get from the academy. from better food and better lodging to private tutoring from our professors. So do your best. Freshman. you may now go to the gym for aptitude assessment. this will determine what classes and which house you'll be placed into. good luck." said the dark haired young woman.

"Hey Jack, you're a freshman too right? follow me, kay?" Asked Lilly.

Jack responded, "Yes, I am. You seem like you know where you're going. Lead the way."

Once they arrive at the gym there is a long line of students awaiting their test and a faculty member stands by the door only allowing in one student at a time.
