6 What We Gonna Do

it is already late int he evening when Rich call me to his room. together with Billy who told me the message and also guide me to Rich room, i finally arrived after 15minutes of walking.

"Thanks my Friend, you can leave us both. i need to talk to him privatly." said Richard to Billy, who quickly leave the room without hesitation.

"so William, what do you know about me? please tell me everything as i know how much you have probe about my identities this whole day" said Rich as he sit down on his sofa.

"i can say that you are strong. much stronger than anyone i have ever met. also you are mysterious. i barely got anything about you from this place and your behavior. i just know that you are a serious type of person. you rarely laugh or even smile. and you are mischievous, almost as much as i am." i said. i hope that will impress him enough.

"good but not enough, i say. you have talent, but lacked experience and knowledge. you rely on your curse too much. i know that deep inside, you just want to be like other kids, but you just not really fit in with them. you are too different. and i also know you are not really a detail person. much of small details is lost from your attention." Rich said as he smiled, mischievous smile at that.

"enough with the pleasantries. do you know why i bring you here?" ask Rich.

"nope. no idea at all. my best guest is we go hiking, but you are not the type to go hiking with random kid, right ?" i say Mockingly.

"enough with your jokes, boy. not funny. don't even try again. my reason to take you here is to train you. to become one of my people." said Rich. his face serious now.

"we, are the Rangers. a field agent, that look for information as a mission, and deliver it to the main battle power. but we are not ordinary ranger. our occupation range from keeping people safe until solving a conflict between angel and demon, which never end."

"i can see that you are confused, boy"

yes i am confused.

"this world doesn't belong to humans, animals and plants only. there are sentient races, hidden among the people. there are beast, some so ferocious and wild they kill you just because you exist. some so docile, they will love you before you know about their existence. there are beings, some looks almost exactly like us, while some other almost unrecognizable. Rangers there to be the guard between these creatures. we even have some friends from other planets!"

i am staring flat face at Rich. yup. he is crazy.

"and since i know you won't believe me. i have a proof. mind to come inside Billy. but in your real form please." said Rich to his hand.he is definitely mocking me.

"sure Rich. hope we don't scare little William here." Billy voice answered from behind me.

as i about to turn my head. i see tentacles creeping beside me. each of them as dark as a night sky. there are stars in it too! and it is gooey..eeww!!

soon a face show up. a slit for an eye and a hollow hole for a mouth. and a little skin covering a pin size hole as a nose. Black skinned and filled with stars. this creature bring fear as he crept from behind me to Rich sofa.

"boo...?"

my mind's blank and i am knocked out.

after what feels like a good night sleep, i wake up. still in the same position as i lost consciousness before. Rich still there. sitting calmly as he read something from his phone. but then he realized that i am awake.

"oh good. you awake. horror child like you sure can take Billy real form quite well." he said, smilling.

"before you said a word. common boy that i recruit before, fall unconscious for a whole day, along with a nightmare. and that boy is already sixteen. be proud horror boy"

"be proud, your father!" i said with a low voice. low enough that i know only i can hear it. for normal human standard.

"i hear that. and my father do proud of me."

"Billy is a creature called, in English, Galaxy Octopus. not really accurate actually, since Billy have about hundred tentacles. each of it ready to be used for any purpose separately. and he is just one of many creature that common human never see for all their life."

"i have dealt with many kind of being. magics or biotechno, living and the dead. even curse user like you. i have meet about ten person. you are the eleventh. but be proud. since you are the only one who can use curse like a breath."

"hmph! so you want to train me, to become like you? a ranger? who protect people?" i asked.

"yes, i want you to be ranger. and no, i want you to be youself, not like me. and also no, i just wish you want to protect people. but Ranger's jobs not only about protecting. we do infiltration, we do escort, we do teach. anything that you can do to this Unknown Society, is yours to chose. as long as it is for the good of many."

"now you should go get some rest. we have entertainment for kids in your room. tomorrow we will go at -"

"I DIDN'T SAY YES! I DON'T WANT TO BE IN YOUR UNKNOWN SOCIETY!" i shout at Rich. geez this guy really selfish. he didn't even asked if i want to be a Ranger.

"well you can't say no. just try it boy. you will enjoy it."

"NO! I DON'T WAN-"

"but i have lots of snacks and soda. delicious food is pile up and no one gonna eat it. don't you want it?"

"no. i don't. why do you think th-"

"and i think we have some more Indonesian food. like rendang i guess? it will be sad if it is left untouched."

"do you have satay?" i asked excitedly.

"ah yes. we have that. even better, we can cook some satay ourselves. it is not really hard to make." Rich offers tempted me. well, i buy it.

"when will we go?? i want to go now!!"

"calm down, calm down. tomorrow we will go. and while you enjoy the food, i want you to learn as much as you can about being a great Ranger. deal?" Rich offer his hand to me. he want to shake hand.

and i give my hand to him. shaking our hand together as we seal the promise.

"Deal!!"

then a bright light shinning from our shaking hand. i feel there is something warm swimming inside my hand, it swim until it reach my heart and then stop.

"good, we have a deal. from now on you must give your best in training or you will not feel hungry at all, which means you can't eat."

i am shocked. my face paled. cold sweat appears on my face.

"DID YOU JUST F****** CURSE ME!!!!!!"
