26 Departure

"To be honest, I do not care about the hatred they have towards me. All I care about are my three girls. I do not fancy the idea of bringing them into a territory filled with my enemies, "

"That won't be happening Dante, "

"Are you sure about that? Can you really give me your word about that? You are telling me to risk the lives of my family just for the position of being a headmaster. I think I'll pass, "

"I know you care about your family. At least you should give this more thought. There's a lot of privileges that comes with being a headmaster. You also get to be a part of something new and great, "

"I know what you mean but my answer remains the.... "

Just as I was about to completely decline Alice's invitation. I noticed we were being watched.

A guy had been seated on a chair in just a few meters behind Alice all this while stealing glances towards our direction.

At first I didn't put much thought into it but now I'm certain something isn't right.

I decided to sweep my awareness across the restaurant and I was indeed right. We were currently being watched.

[[Awareness]] was one of the few abilities I had in my disposal. It aided in allowing me to have a three hundred and sixty degree inspection of my surroundings within a hundred meter radius.

It was a really effective ability I had come to love over the years. Now I could discern who were foes from the rather populous unsuspecting diners.

Aside from the guy behind Alice, a maid had been stealing glances towards our direction and the two guys behind me who were laughing and chatting all this while had various means of communication equipment on them.

"What's the meaning of this Alice?"

"*Sighs* So you've noticed huh? I'm sorry Dante, I told them I was coming to offer you the invitation but they begged me to allow them to come since they were a fan and had huge and deep respect towards you and your achievements,"

"I do not care about that. You know I do not like things like this. I'm sorry Alice but this is where I take my leave,"

"No Dante wait...."

"Teleportis,"

*Poof!!*

And just like that, I stood up and teleported straight back to my hotel room.

"*Coughs* Ahh!!"

Upon my arrival back to the hotel, I could feel my heart beating in a slow rhythm with blood involuntarily leaking out of my nostrils. The red liquid gushed out of my mouth as I coughed.

It seemed I had exceeded my limits while teleporting at a great distance from the restaurant back here.

I decided to lie down on the floor for a few minutes to allow my body metabolism to resume back to its original functionality.

Although I know Alice doesn't mean me harm but I can't say the same about those she's working for.

Not everyone from the demon realm wanted peace to reign and with the presence of demons among the group of men spying on me at the restaurant, I knew I had to be extra careful.

Pfft. They were fans? How does she expect me to believe that they were a fan of my achievements.

I'm positive at least one of those spies was feeding valuable information to one of the board of directors of the new academy who in turn may be working directly with a demon royal family that has the desire to see me dead.

All it would take to compromise my life long secret would be a single camera. If a picture of me was to be taken by one of those "supposed fans" I'm pretty sure it would be something that would haunt me for years especially when my picture becomes exposed that I'm Count Dracula.

I can't have assassins and bounty hunters hot on my trail with the girls by my side. What matters the most to me is their safety.

"Young master? Young master!! What's wrong?"

Espying my weakened state on the floor, Deena rushed towards me as her blood ran cold.

"It's okay Deena. I'm okay, I just need to rest a bit."

"No, why? Who would do this?"

Seeing her eyes already on the brink of leaking tears, I couldn't help but feel touched but I'm really not in a life threatening situation right now.

I guess I will have to tell her once again that I'm okay...zzz.

Dante, whose body needed more time to heal, drifted into slumber on the lap of his dark elf maid.

*****

"Tell the girls to pack their things, we're leaving now, "

With my body already feeling okay, I stood up to get my things ready while asking Deena to get the girls to do the same.

We've got to get out of here before the spies becomes accustomed to my appearance while spying upon our every movement.

The best way to avoid that right now would be to return back to the Green Emerald City.

"Daddy? I'm sorry about... "

"Not now Delilah. Just pack your bags and get ready. We're moving now,"

I didn't bat an eye towards Delilah or both Leah and Mia who were hiding behind the door of the bedroom as they were too frightened to confront me right now.

I'm still a little bit annoyed by what they did but I'll save their punishment for later while keeping them notified that nothing they do now could ease the anger I have towards them.

To be honest, I was a little bit proud to see Delilah being able to control her demonic form in an adept manner. After all, it's not everyday you get to see a demonic genius for a five year old.

With everyone else set and ready to go. We all headed straight to our flying chariot which was pulled by four black Pegasus.

We have to get out of here fast before the academy spies track us all the way back home, I've gotta avoid that by all means.

"Hiyaa!"

With me being the coachman of the chariot, I aimed for home. I'm a little bit sad by all this cause the purpose of coming all the way here to Soda Ash City was to make sure everyone had fun but with how things had become, fun is the least of our worries now.
