Chapter 229

I wandered about a palace. It was the only word I could think of to describe where I was, but it seemed far too grand and fantastic for such a word. Diamond made the windows, spreading the light as actual rainbows. Even more dripped about the ceiling where more light came in, and the walls could only be made of jade and jasper. The carpet beneath my feet had to be the softest velvet of deep, rich white and gold.

I didn't know how I got there. I didn't think much of it either. There wasn't really much going on inside my head.

Even so, when I made out the figure of a man with silver hair ahead of me, my heart leapt and I trotted to him.

He smiled and spread his arms.

"Lilly," he said.

I pressed myself up to him in the tightest hug I could manage. My insides bounced about in warm joy.

"I was looking for you!" I said before I even thought it.

"Were you?" he asked.

"Yes!" I nuzzled my face into his shoulder. "I'm so happy!"

"Do you even know me?"
