8 Luo Shuo

Wang Yu Xia's heart nearly came out of her mouth as she stared at the boy before her eyes.

Her face darkened as she struggled to reply nonchalantly.

"Hello... Luo Shuo." she said forcing a smile.

While on the surface she looked as though she was smiling normally, inside she was fighting a war with herself as she tried really hard not to slap his face and break down crying.

It was hard not to, after all he was the major reason her status had displayed the "extremely depressed" tag.

Luo Shuo was her ex-boyfriend, and also the one whom she was extremely in love with.

Even after he left her for another woman, she still loved him. Even if he had embarrassed her in front of her family by breaking up with her, she still couldn't bring herself to hate him. The only thing she had in her heart at the time was pain and loneliness.

Some might call her a masochistic little bitch for it, no doubt. And although she was mad at him, she did not hate him.

Even 3 years after that incident, even after they hadn't spoken to each other, and had both moved away, her feelings still remained.

Of course, 3 years later he had reached out to her, intending to tell her something.

Sadly, she never found out what it was, as the day they were supposed to meet, her mother had passed away from cancer.

Since she never showed up, he didn't get to say what he wanted to say. It was only 3 months later that she found out he had killed himself by jumping in front of a train. This tore her apart. Not only was her mother gone, so was the person she deemed to be her soulmate.

Months later, her depression soared and she couldn't stand breathing the stale and heavily polluted air. She had been told she was the reason for his death by none other than the witch who had taken him away... Xiao Ning!

She was covered in guilt and filled with an endless sense of dread. And yet even in her extreme depression, she didn't want to die.

Thus she carried on living like a ghost until the day when truck-sama hit.

It's laughable. She wasted her whole life away by being depressed, and even now the effects of that time still remain.

Ding!

[System Event triggered! ]

'Huh...?' The cold robotic voice brought her back from her stupor, as her eyes revealed confusion.

[God-mode Event "Save Luo Shuo" has been triggered due to Host's memory. Please check the quest menu for details!]

... What.

Just as she was about to ask Eros what the heck was going on, another message appeared.

[ A new skill has been granted to host. Please check status to view the skill.]

!!!

[ Host, please work hard to complete the god-mode event, should you fail you will suffer a terrible death.]

Wang Yu Xia was stunned. She hadn't expected the system to grant such a mission.

"...Xia!"

Just as she was about to check out the event, a voice brought her back to reality.

"Oiii... XiaXia!"

A hand waved at her face as she finally came back to reality.

Seeing that she had come to, Luo Shuo continued talking.

"XiaXia, I know I'm handsome but can you stop staring this hard?" he said as one of his eyebrows arched.

"Shuo..." as soon as she saw his face, tears began to drop and her vision began to blur.

Both Luo Shuo and Zane were startled by her sudden reaction. For a moment, they didn't know what to do or how to calm her down. Heck, they didn't even know how it was she started crying.

"Y-Yu Xia.. why are you crying?" Luo Shuo asked as he frowned, turning towards Zane, as if to inquire what had happened. The equally clueless Zane shook his head and showed his confusion. In his broken mandarin he answered.

"She sad when she see you, maybe you made sadness...?"

Luo Shuo's confusion grew as he immediately tried to apologise.

"XiaXia, are you hurt? Did I say anything wrong? I'm an idiot! Forgive me! Please don't cry!" he said, rather flustered as he reached out to towards her.

Immediately after he touched her though, Wang Yu Xia pounced toward Luo Shuo and hugged him between sobs.

Luo Shuo was startled by the sudden contact, and though embarrassed, he didn't push her away. Meanwhile, Zane was looking on with mild interest at the scene, seemingly having figured out something.

After a while, Wang You Xia managed to calm down and stopped sobbing. As soon as she did though, she realised her current position and froze immediately.

She was currently grabbing tightly onto Luo Shuo in an embrace!

Their bodies were really close, but if this was all, then it wouldn't be a big deal. No, what she really couldn't tolerate was the fact that...

THEY.

WERE.

IN.

PUBLIC!

That's right, they were currently still in the cafeteria, and no more than 5 minutes had passed since she threw herself on him. However, during that time, many of the students that passed by had caught wind of the situation... and rumours had begun to circulate.

Seeing as the damage was already done, she mustered up her courage and looked up at him.

Luo Shuo who had just been comforting her had been looking down at her to see if she was alright. So when Wang Yu Xia looked up, their eyes inevitably met.

When Luo Shuo's eyes met hers, he noticed Wang Yu Xia's pitiful look and teary eyes similar to that of a bullied little rabbit.

Pang!

Immediately, he blushed as he realised that he found her... extremely cute!

One must know, Luo Shuo's relationship with Wang Yu Xia at the time was that of childhood friends. They got along really well with each other, but it wasn't until their 9th grade in middle school that they officially became sweethearts. That is to say, to the current them, it was supposed to be an innocent friendship.

Noticing Luo Shuo stare back at her, made her momentarily freeze as she got lost while admiring his eyes, something interrupted them.

RII-IIIINNNGGG!!

The lunch bell had rung, indicating that lunchtime was over.

As if being rudely awoken, the pair immediately let go of each other.

"Umm... sorry for hugging you so suddenly." she apologised, but the blush in her face gave her away.

"Mm, it's okay, I don't mind it. But are you alright?" Luo Shuo asked while trying to avoid her gaze as it was embarrassing.

Hearing his question made Wang Yu Xia feel warm inside, but instead of replying she just nodded as she wiped her tears.

However, just as they were about to talk some more, out of the corner of her eye Wang Yu Xia noticed there were two other people staring at them. One of them wore a gentle smile on his face, while the other had a murderous glare directed right at her.

As she turned to look at those eyes, she realised the gentle gaze was Zane, and the murder glare was none other than a massive headache, Xiao Ning.

It was then that she remembered she had been eating with Zane this whole time, suddenly neglecting him just now.

"Oh, Zane, sorry I forgot to introduce you!" she said in English.

"This is Luo Shuo, my friend." she said, rather nonchalantly.

Luo Shuo who had also been in his own world, suddenly realised there were other people around them as he just turned to greet Zane.

"Though I say that, I doubt Luo Shuo's going to know what I just said-" just as she was explaining this in English to Zane, Luo Shuo spoke in English.

"Oh, nice to meet you!" said Luo Shuo in English.

To which Zane greeted in kind, though slightly surprised that someone other than Wang Yu Xia spoke English.

However, the one that was most surprised wasn't Zane, but Wang Yu Xia herself!

As far as she knew, Luo Shuo was extremely bad at English and constantly asked for her help with it. Last summer it was the same as well!

Just how...?

"Hey, did you-"

Just when Wang Yu Xia was about to ask, a high pitched voice interrupted her.

"Brother Luo, I think I saw the teacher call for you."

A high-pitched voice exclaimed as she approached them.

This was none other than Xiao Ning, the class representative.

'Heh... here she comes again!'

Wang Yu Xia knew that every time she spoke with Luo Shuo, by some sort of miracle, Xiao Ning would somehow end up interrupting them. This happened in her past life more often than not.

In some cases, her interruptions caused big misunderstandings or miscommunications between them, which eventually led to her break up with Luo Shuo.

If there was an event that Luo Shuo was going to, or a concert or training... Xiao Ning would be there too.

Some might say she was dilligent in her pursuit, others... like Wang Yu Xia, just called her as she was — a disgusting stalker.

Once Luo Shuo heard her, he nodded and gave her a mild smile in response, before saying his goodbyes and leaving.

Thankfully, before Wang Yu Xia and Zane had to deal with her, yet again, one of the hall monitors began to announce that all students must make their way back to class.

As for Xiao Ning? Without mentioning the fact that she had ignored them, the pair had likewise ignored her too.

Now that distractions were out of the way, Wang Yu Xia could finally check her status. After all, she still needed to check that so called God Mode Event.
