Farewell

As the last dirt was poured into Elyse's final resting place, it seems that Lyon's world came crumbling down on him. An anguish cry was all he could do. He didn't cried even once on the wake of his beloved, but this was probably the last straw. Never again will he see his wife's beautiful face as she smile at him. All their dreams was lost in just a snap of a finger.

What will I do now? He cried sorrowfully that all the mourners shed streaming tears. They couldn't console the poor guy for they all know how much love the couple had for each other.

Days drag by into months as slowly as a snail for the small family of Elyse. The once happy house filled with laughter and love is now engulfed with sadness and the scent of death. The once vigorous young man seems to have already followed his beloved to her grave for even his eyes was as dull as someone who's already dead. The neighbors of the young couple was very much afraid that the young man might kill himself but they are much more worried for the new born twins. If not for their generosity, those babies might have died already because their father seems to neglect them both. Passed on to the women of the neighborhood who also breastfeed their young children was the life of the twins.

Alas, the elders from the neighborhood seems to have reach his bottom line for he paid Lyon a visit to demand that he should take good care of his children.

We know that you are still grieving because you've lost someone whom you love, but by the gods please take good care of your children and consider them gifts from your wife! They are the last reminder of Elyse for you. This statement seems to snap the attention of Lyon for at last he finally look at the elderly man. As if on cue, the now months old twins simultaneously cried. Standing slowly from where he was sitting for God knows how long, he slowly walk to where his children's are.

Which one is Nox? Thinking that he is being ask the elderly man pointed to the child in the left. That one is your boy.

Looking to where the elderly pointed he gazed lovingly to the babe. Slowly he cradle the babe and then tears suddenly falls as he kissed his child while moving inside the room. Sighing with relief for finally it seems that Lyon had snap from his stupor, the elderly man also move outside the house.

The midwife who birthed the twins was walking to where the young couple's how where when she heard screams inside the house as well as crying of a child so she rush hurriedly to know what is happening. She was at the front door when it suddenly opened and something was thrown outside. Due to shock or maybe instinct she made a grab to whatever was thrown at her and she was horrified when that something that was thrown was a baby!

You should have died instead of my beloved Elyse! You shouldn't have been born you monster! You are your mother's murderer and I won't ever accept you as my child! The midwife was shocked by what the father has uttered and even more horrified that he literally threw the child outside the door like a piece of trash. If not for the timing that she was just outside the door, the child might have already died.

The midwife look at the poor babe pitifully and glare hatefully at it's father. It is not the babe's fault that her mother died. You should know that. If you must blame someone it should be us. Blame me for my incompetency for I haven't able to notice that she's carrying twins. You should also blame yourself for your incapacity of providing financial support when your wife's still pregnant! You should never blame the child for she has no will or whatsoever! Even seeing that the father's face pale significantly, this midwife never dare to care anymore. Any pity that she has for this young man vanish the instant that this thing happened.

You are not worth it to raise the children that your wife left you with. Might as well get the children out of here before any mishap happen. And with that, she shove the man and enter the small house while still carrying the child in her arms. In no time she entered the room and was engulfed again by pain for she still remembers what happens to that young woman due to her.

It is not only the young man who felt pain because of Elyse's demise but so is this midwife. She was being eaten inside out by guilt that's why she try to help both children however she could while their father still mourn the death of their mom. But this is just too much!

She fears that if she doesn't get the children out of here and away from their father... she shake her head for she don't want what the things she thinks come to pass.

If you wanted no harm to fall to that girl child then get her out of here but never try to take my son away from me or all helps will break lose.

A dagger like glare shut the father up.

You don't have the capacity to raise any of these children. Might as well bring them up to the elder's house and we will decide the proper course of action to this matter. And without further ado the midwife walk past the stupified father bringing with her the twins. But before she could leave the house, the young man rush and block the door.

Forgive me old Nan, I wasn't myself that's why I did that horrible thing. Please don't take my children away from me. They are all what was left of Elyse. I don't want to lose what connects me to her. Down of his knees, the young man gripped the midwife's sleeve as he beg her.

But no matter how much Lyon pleaded, old Nan ignores him and finally walks out the door leaving the young man kneels while crying.
