6 Chance Encounter 2

Nxy is deathly afraid that what her brother promised her last week won't come to pass. For nothing happened in their daily lives this past few days that turns alright. Their father as always spent his days toiling into work in the morning and almost all the money he earned go to his drinks at night. As young as they were, the twins learned early on how to work menial jobs just so they could bring food in their table. And although her brother is their father's favorite and being given a few pennies if their father has spare, it is not enough for the two of them. She knew full well that it is by her brother's kindness that she can even have a good food twice a day and has clothed to wear, for in their family's daily expenses their father exclude her in the counting. She was actually puzzled that her father is not questioning as to why she is still alive and seems to be healthy at all. The poor treatment of her father might have left a deep scar within her heart but thanks to her loving brother, young Nyx is quite by far cheerful and a happy child although she is quite mature for her age.

Of course, Lyon is also quite curious as to how this daughter of his still lives but knowing that his son aside from their few kind neighbors is the reason for it, he just shrugged it off and let the children be. As long as he won't spend a single penny for that wretched child, he doesn't care where the money comes from for his daughter's expenses. The only concern he has is for his son and of course for the liquor he will consume every night. Since the day that his beloved Elyse died, the only companion he has is the liquors that numb his mind from pain of losing his wife and although he loves his son as much it is painful for him to look at the child who looks like Elyse for long that's why when he is sober, he barely stay in the house and instead he make his body tired by drowning himself into work too in the morning. And that is the daily activity in the lives of this small family. It is also part of their routine that when Lyon goes home drunk, young Nyx will hide herself outside the house and let her father fall asleep before going back for fear that when Lyon saw her, not a single part of her body will not be covered in bruises. She was now deeply afraid of her father whenever he is drunk because the last time it happen, she was almost beaten to death if not for the intervention of her twin and so morning come that time that the two of them almost couldn't get up due to the violence of their father. The elders of their small community once condemned their father for such behavior but young as they are, they couldn't imagine life without having a single parent in their life and so nothing the elders say that changes the mind of the two children to let their father serve imprisonment. But because of it, they make it a point that they weren't in the vicinity whenever their father is drunk. Like a consensus, Lyon will just go home totally numb and will go straight into bed. Whenever morning came, no words will be uttered between the father and daughter except when Lyon inquire from his son. Does was the life of little Nyx and Nox with their father, Lyon.

She thought that today will just be like the past few days of their pitiful life. Although she knew that there will be an important event that will be held in town in celebration of the founding anniversary of Circa, young Nyx never dare feel hopeful that they will go in town and watch the celebration for Lyon is seem not going anywhere today while her brother is nowhere to be seen.

Wretched, where's Lynnox? startled by her father's sudden question, she hasn't answered fast enough that earned her a few beatings. If I ask you a question, used that small brain of yours and answer me quickly you little devil! You really are indeed a cursed Child! Get the hell out of my sight! Eyes full of terror, young Nyx hurriedly run through the door and into the small hill outside their home where a little wooden house is built and hide. Crying helplessly for even if she do nothing, in the eyes of her father she is just a pest. And yet despite all of this, she still can't find it in her heart to hate her father. She still hope and pray that someday her father will also love her.

When Nox entered their house, he was surprised to still see their father inside and was also deeply bothered as to where his beloved sister be. He knew that whenever their father is home, his sister made it a point to vanish from sight for fear of getting beatin for no reason at all aside from being alive.

With a secret sigh he greeted his father as he enters their humble home.

Father, you are still here. A small smile was painted on young Nox lips yet secretly looking for a way to go outside the house and find his little sister.

Son, I have been looking for you for quite some time now. Where have you been? still irritated from his previous encounter with his young daughter, Lyon huff while asking his son.

You're sister is too dumb to even answer such simple question hump!

Gulping down his saliva due to his father's foul mood, Nox just bow his head and internally wipe the sweat in his forehead.

Forgive my sister father for she really doesn't know where I have been. I just played outside with our neighbors. I didn't know that you're still here.

I wanted to stay for today but due to your sister, might as well go for work hump. I have left money on the drawer, and buy yourself food. I may not come home early today so, you must sleep early understand. As he sees that his son's face flushed bright red with enthusiasm, Lyon can't help himself but smile inwardly and rub his son's head before heading outside.

As his father left, Nox hurriedly grabbed the few pennies his father left for him and started to search for his sibling.

Finally found you! I was right to go here first to find you because it is the only place would will run into after you have your encounter with father this morning. With a smile, the young boy patted the head of his younger sister as he entered the small house they've built. Seeing the wet face of his sister, his small heart can't help but be gripped with sudden sadness.

Now, now don't cry anymore. Brother told you that we will go to town right? Well as luck would have it, that day is now! he excitedly to his sister.

Really brother? wide eyes from the surprise, a wide smile finally blossomed into young Nix's face that also made his brother smile tenderly.

But of course! Ive finally have the money for us and so what are you waiting for? Let's go!

Hand in hand the siblings move outside their small hide out and went home to prepare in going into their town.
