1 Chapter One - Don't Look Away From The Arms Of Love

I gently opened the red envelope with my name on it. It's a piece of paper,  I didn't realize. It would transform my life forever.

It was your ordinary day at any American high school; the days were slow, flat, and laborious. I was in my fourth period, band, about 30 minutes into the class, the office announced on the intercom,

"Send Emily Jenkins,  to the office she will be signed out", the secretary spoke with her aged, screechy, voice.

I scurried to get my French horn into its case, I clutched my backpack with all the band patches that I have ironed on over the years and headed to the office.

I noticed Jason there, Jason was exceedingly abusive, he would occasionally become intoxicated, he would throw beer glasses at me on purpose, and likewise called names like "b*tch" and "wh*re". Ever since Dad passed away, mom found Jason at a bar then they instantly became girlfriend and boyfriend then subsequently became husband and wife, mom was pondering about divorcing Jason because of all the insult that was continuing around the house.

Jason rushed me into the raggedy, primitive, Honda SUV and promoted to the hospital.  My mom was newly diagnosed with breast cancer, she had progressed through chemotherapy. She hardly had enough stamina to do anything. She also introduced me to my favorite band, Green Day.  We would tune in to them in the car whenever I was younger, I didn't realize how inspiring Billie Joe Armstrong and Green Day could be. Billie inspired me to pick up a musical instrument and to advance the band. Also, Billie's heartfelt lyrics made me continue existence and made me not commit suicide.

We traveled up to the hospital where my mom was sojourning at; she looked sickly pale, and her lips were extremely discolored. She was hairless from all the chemotherapy that she has gone through.

"Here mom, I made you something", I said handing her a pink beanie I made for her.

"Thank you, sweetheart... I need to tell you something..." she murmured.

"What is it?" I begged.

"You will encounter out something... I" she answered back.

A few moments later, I heard the heart rate monitor beep, I signaled the medic from the end of the hallway, she and many other technicians rushed in there and they forced me to get out of the room, they used defibrillation.  I parked down in a chair in the corridor, sobbing.

The nurse came outside of the room  and said to me sadly, "I'm sorry for your loss." My eyes filled with tears, Jason ran into the hallway. "Wait for what!? I can't believe that all your methods didn't work to keep her alive," he screamed at the nurse, "Well sir, there is nothing we can do now."

Then I fell into a deep depression after the death of my mom, I missed her very much. She was the only person who cared about me, and Jason did not. Jason drunk 3 to 4 bottles a beer every night since mom's death.  The day of mom's funeral I could barely take it anymore, I ran home then I locked myself into my room, it somewhat, reminds me of, Wake Me Up When September Ends, which was her favorite song by Green Day.
