4 [4] My Element Is Dark—Lightning!?

In the classroom, there was an instructor to guide the students. The instructor signaled for all the students to come inside. All of the students walked in an orderly fashion accord, they all were lined by rows in the very back of the classroom.

"Alright,...well done.", the instructor announced.

"It appears that everyone is ready to begin their Magic Examination. So I will explain the basics and how to perform the element awakening--please pay close attention.", he stated.

The students got very quiet.

Everyone was very excited to awaken their element, but at the moment it was very important for them to listen carefully. They were all silenced.

The male teacher whose name was Xu stood in front of a wide black-board. He grabbed a piece of chalk and began writing swiftly. None of the students could really understand what he was writing-so they were clueless.

The teacher finished writing.

"It's done!", he shouted.

"The basics of how to awaken your Magic element!" was written on the blackboard in white chalk. The students were amused and gasped. Many of their eyes were glowing brightly with excitement, and Liu who was in the back of the class next to Mei Luo also was intrigued by it.

"It's quite simple. Everyone here may be capable of awakening an element from within. Sure, it sounds complex, but it is a very simple process.", he stated.

"All of you are capable of great things, and you all have chosen the path to become magicians. It is like a dream to those of the younger generation, but now it is your time!", he shouted.

The teacher was very serious about what he was saying. He had no contradictions and wasn't students even bothered by power-hungry eyes. He continued to explain.

"All of you may not know this...so I will share with you this information. There are many magic elements in this world. The most common elements of this region are fire, water, lightning, wind, and earth. With a final surprise-there is also the ice element!", he stated.

Liu didn't know that there was an-ice element so it shocked him, once he found out. There were a lot of things that Liu wasn't aware of.

For starters, the element that you would awaken would also determine your class in society. Having a fire or Water element would easily put someone at the top of the roster. Those elements were just so well-known and had much respect and honor.

While elements such as earth and wind were at the bottom of the roster, they were evenly matched with one another. But in terms of comparison fire and water were on another level, and lightning was much higher than both fire and water.

The students were so excited for the moment because they could make things better in their families just by becoming a magician. It was considered a turning point for others' lives.

The teacher Xu further explained the elements.

"The 'Fire Element' is a powerful and raging power to use. It is very hard to control for beginners, but once it is obtained it can be very destructive"

There is only a 1 out of 10,000 chance that someone will awaken the fire element.

"The 'water element' is very mature and graceful power. It is on the same level as fire, but once it is obtained it can be very useful. Water magicians, however, can be considered on a higher mastery than fire magicians."

There is only a '1 out of 50,000' chance that someone will awaken the water element.

"The 'wind element' and '' are both on the same levels. They are very useful powers in terms of defense and evasion. Whereas Fire and Water are offensive elements. The earth element and wind element are the easiest to control, with enough practice of course.

There is only a '500 out of 1,000' chance someone will awaken the wind element. That the same calculation applied to the earth element. There was a very high estimate that a person would either awaken the earth or wind element. But they were still respectfully useful.

"Finally, the lightning element! The 'lightning element' is the strongest of the rarest of the bunch. It isn't much known about the Lightning element, but its power can even top those of fire and water.", he stated.

The lightning element calculation: 1 in 1,000,000

It was beyond impossible that someone would awaken the lightning element. 1 out of 1,000,000 was just too much of a gap. It was most certainly impossible. Yet, this didn't stop the students from being hyped about awakening their elements.

"Now since I have told you the types of elements...we will now move on-to the discussion of how an element is awakened. Please, I would like to use one volunteer if possible.", he stated.

The students began ranting on and about if anyone was willing to go up. There was only one girl brave enough to go first. She quickly stepped out of her row and walked to the board. She wasn't nervous or scared at all-she was confident and had eyes full of determination, yet such a prosperous face of beauty.

"Alright, ...Are you ready?", Xu asked.

"Y-yeah,...I'm ready.", she stuttered.

It turned out the girl really was nervous after all, but she was willing to demonstrate. She was a bit shy too.

The teacher pulled out a piece of paper. Wait, was it only just a piece of paper? It was an old paper seal. There was writing on it, but it wasn't written in dialect script. The piece of paper looked light as a feather.

Liu was paying close attention.

He wasn't too sure what the teacher was doing.

The teacher then wrote a magician's circle on the seal. That seemed to have been the finishing touches, the teacher wanted to move on to the next thing.

"This is a bind. It prevents one's magic from exploding when their element is awakened. It is a "magic-lock" to keep everyone in their classroom safe. When a user places their hand on the seal, it will respond depending on the element they awaken--If the fire is awakened the circle will become red. If the water is awakened the circle will be blue, the wind-element will result in green, the earth- element will result in brown, and so on."

"But lightning, on the other hand, has different color variations. There are only yellow lightning and blue lightning variations."

"Now, could you please place your hand on the circle?", he asked.

"Ah, ...yes sir.", she whispered.

The girl placed her hand onto the colorless magic circle. The circle began to spin when the contact was made between it and her hand.

"Now it is very important that you close your eyes and concentrate. Feel the energy channeling from your navel to your spine. Don't suppress that energy and let it go.', he commanded.

"Y-yes! I will do my best."

The girl kept her hand on the colorless magic circle. She closed her eyes and began to focus. The magic circle began to react to the energy she felt in her body, and the circle began to spin. Gradually gaining speed.

The wind began to blow her hair. The whole classroom was also being visited by a swift breeze, that blew as the magic circle spun. While her eyes were closed, her hand began to shake. The classroom was completely quiet and was amazed by the power of the wind.

The color of the classroom became blue all of a sudden, due to thin blue rays of light that were projected from the magic circle onto the surroundings.

The girl's element was revealed awakened.

"Huh.....what!"

"Absolutely no way."

"This can't be possible."

Students had gasped once they saw the element she had awakened. Everyone was absolutely stunned and blew away.

The small shy girl who was nervously stuttering had awakened the Water Element. She's a water magician! No way! The odds were completely astronomical!

"N-no way...did she really just awaken the water element? She's a water magician.", Liu thought.

He was taken off guard too, that a nervous young girl managed to awaken one of the highest tier elements.

"N-no way. This student she really is something all right...she managed to awaken the water element on her first try", Xu thought.

The girl slowly opened up her eyes. She then noticed that the magic circle that was colorless at first, was now orbiting as a bright blue color of sea blue. The girl was overjoyed, she began to let out a few tears.

"I...I awakened the water element!", she shouted.

The girl was so proud and satisfied with the element she had done. Now it was her turn to become a magician. That girl sure was promised a good life ahead of her.

The 1st awakening that left everyone in the class speechless and shook also surprised the girl next to Liu, Velomica. She was also blown out of her mind by the first awakening, but she kept her cool. She needed to stay focused on when it would be her turn.

"Yin Sho, ...Elite Class!", Xu shouted.

The young nervous girl, Yin Sho, was marked as an Elite-class magician. Xu read the score of her magic element which was 6,000. Her power score was almost near mastery-9,000.

Yin Sho had a very refined and matured water element, which easily put her in the Elite class.

The class you were assigned to didn't solely depend on the awakened element nor the power rating. There was much more to consider, such as the potential of that person and also their family background.

The girl Yin Show who awakened her element was the attention-center of the class. Not only was she hottie, but she had beautiful skin, and her hair was a faded blue color, and her eyes were gray. Her eyes were empty. She had a mysterious aura to her, that wasn't like any other person aside from Mei

.

She was the first one to go up and volunteer, so everyone else after her became very excited and began to rush and perform their awakenings.

"Hey, I wanna perform my awakening...please teacher!"

"Alright, let's do this...", a purple-haired girl stated.

"C'mon, I'm tired of beating around the bush.", a black-haired boy complained.

"Man, I wonder what element I'll manage to awaken. I really hope that its fire..ooh or hey what if I got wind, or water-like, her.", a white-haired boy said.

"Could we please hurry it up a bit!", a green-haired girl said.

The classroom began to spike with a burning fire of ambition and confidence. Everyone was eager to awaken their elements that the entire class began to become a bit impatient. The guys were having small chats with the girls talking about what elements they would soon awaken. The class atmosphere was very lively.

Liu at the time was far over by himself.

He didn't know anyone at the school really, so he did not have anyone to talk to. He also didn't think that it would important to meet anyone during the matter.

Everyone here seems so excited...

"I wonder what element will I really awaken. Am I really a magician? If so, then I should have an element deep within me too.", Liu thought.

"Alright, everyone please settle down!", Xu shouted.

The class atrocious chatting was brought to an end.

"Now we will begin everyone examinations. I will call you up one at the time, beginning from the first person on the left row.", Xu stated.

"Do you all understand?"

"Yes-sir!", the class shouted.

The look of everyone's face was so serious. They were eager and passion drive, it brought a dim smile on the teachers face. He had the belief that this year's group of students would be great magicians. He had high expectations of them.

One by one the students were called. They were called to the Magic Circle seal which laid calmy on the table. The first person awakened the wind element, the next, awakened the earth element. And so the turns kept going--Liu was unsure at the time. He was nervous about the element he would awaken, but he kept hope that it would be something like a fire or perhaps water.

"Alright!, I awakened the fire element!", a girl shouted.

The girl's hair blew due to the magic circle's rotation. The circle was glowing a bright fiery red. She did indeed awaken the fire element.

Her power score was fairly decent for the fire element. The teacher, Xo was very proud of her.

"Mei Lin...welcome to the prime class. I hope that you'll work hard to become a great magician.", Xo congratulated.

The girl was surprised that she awakened the fire element. Once she took her hand off the circle, the red streak of lighting that one filled the Classroom vanished.

"Thank you...thank you very much!", she bowed.

The young passion and open heartened girl that awakened the fire element was so excited she too began to cry. She had faith to bring fame and fortune to her sister.

There was one boy in particular that caught the girls' hearts. He was very tall and beautiful, and he was the confident type of guy, he was also a bit cocky and arrogant too.

"Woah...who's is that?!", a girl stated.

"I don't know, but he's so cute!", a girl admired. She even held her hands on her cheeks that were blushing bright cherry blossom-pink.

After the girl who awakened the fire element was a tall handsome guy. His hair was golden-blonde and he walked up to the stand confidently. He then stared at the magic circle seal and place his hand on it.

He closed his eyes focusing in silence. The class grew quieter than ever before. All of their looks were grappling towards the blonde-haired boy. The girls were so wooed by his gorgeous and beautiful hair. After all, the boy was actually a model.

"Are you ready?", Xu asked.

"Yeah, of course... let's do this!", the boy nodded.

Like everyone he too focused on the magic circle. He drew the power from his body that began to combust and heat inside of his navel and sent it through the channel of his arm. The energy was so powerful, he felt a shock of static. No way! that was his element.

HE AWAKENED THE LIGHTNING ELEMENT!!!???

The color of the circle was as yellow as the sun rays of energy. The color of the circle was glowing brightly, that rays of yellow light shined upon the room.

"N-no way I awakened the element!", he thought.

"I really did it!", he cheered.

"W-what!, no way. There is only a one in a million chance of someone to awaken the lightning element. This kid must really be something, to awaken such an element on his first try. Honestly, I hope to see such the progress he is able to make.", Xu thought.

"No way, he awakened the lightning element!", a girl shouted.

"We really have a lightning magician in our class!", a boy shouted.

"Man I've only heard the rumors... it's such a powerful element but the chances of encountering a lightning magician are close to none. Man, he really is something alright.", a girl whispered.

The class began to have an entire controversy on this guy's element-awakening.

Liu at the time was starting to become so envious towards the elements that the students managed to awaken. Liu even began to second guess himself.-could Liu honestly awaken a strong element?

"N-no way. He awakened the Lightning element!...man that will put him in the top for sure. Is it even possible for me to awaken something that great, damn it!", Liu thought.

"Liu was sweating anxiously at the time. He couldn't wait for any further for his turn, but he was down the line."

The blonde-haired boy was placed in the elite class.

Once the boy awakened his element, the order continued. Time passed by but, after a while before the students who awakened their elements felt more confident about themselves. They were also bragging to their friends. Although barely anyone had managed to awaken top tier elements, those with low tier elements felt a bit down-some were satisfied, but others--not so much.

"The next person is...Mei Luo."

It was now Mei's turn. Liu was very intrigued by her because she was the first person that he ever truly encountered when entering the academy. She was bright, beautiful and had a fine figure for a girl her age.

When she stepped out of line it felt like time passed by very slowly. Her long silky black hair swished by the wind as she moved. The boys were all attracted to her, and the girls admired her beauty. No, to be more down to earth-many of the girls had a crush on velonica. Their eyes grew and they blushed when Mei glanced at them.

Unlike most girls, Mei was a true mystery at the academy. Her presence was almost unnoticeable, she was so quiet, yet-so sincere and modest. She didn't flinch or shake. She was ready to awaken her element.

She stepped in front of the table. Thus placing her hand on the colorless magic circle. She closed her eyes, but she also did something else. She let out a gentle breath from her lungs.

She focused the powerful fire-like energy from her navel. The energy than was channeled to her arm, then to her hand. All of the students were magnetized to her. The magic circle began spinning, faster and faster. The speed became so intense that a small gust of wind spun by the rotation.

Liu was focused only on her.

The magic circle grew and grew. It was not like any other thing that occurred before, and the teacher himself was sweating nervously.

The first color of the circle turned bright crimson red--it was fire!

The entire room of the class began to glow bright crimson red--the same color as Mei's eyes at the time. The quiet and calm Mei Luo awakened her abilities as a fire magician, but then something wonderful happened.

The color red, which stood for "fire-magic" grew dim. Then a new color appeared after red--It was blue! She awakened the water-element!

SHE AWAKENED ANOTHER ELEMENT!!??

"W-what the hell? Could she really be a Dual element user!... I can't believe it with my own eyes!..wait, it's her family she's the daughter of those people!", Xu thought.

It turned out Mei was abnormal from other people. Many of the people in her family were tied into developing a fire element, but never the water element. How could she have acquired a stronger power that wasn't in her family lineage!?

Mei opened her eyes. She was then filled with the presence of a raging-fire element and a pure neutral water element. She noticed her power, and she let out a bright face of wonder.

She then took her hand off of the table.

"I would've expected the fire element. But how could I have awakened the water element too? This was so unexpected.", Mei thought.

"NO FUCKING WAY!, SHE CAN REALLY USE DUAL ELEMENTS!!!???", a boy shouted. He looked defeated. He was outdone in every way, he only managed to awaken a puny earth element--while Mei, on the other hand, managed to get on a whole other level.

Some of the students felt defeated and envious towards Mei.

"Man this just isn't possible. It can't be. What a lucky person she has to be in order to awaken two of the strongest elements...in the entire world!", a girl complained.

Liu was blown away by this.

The look on his face was so shooked.

The teacher found himself exhausted from all of the tension and excitement that filled the classroom. He straightened his glasses and took a quick breath.

"Mei...welcome to the Mastery class."

"Yes, thank you very much. I am glad to be able to work with such high ranked magicians.", she responded.

Mei let out a few words of gratitude once she was ranked with the mastery class. She was placed on the mastery class ranks. This meant that as an academy student she had permission to work on missions and take on occupations such as the following: Hunter magician, Seeker, Assassin, Bounty Hunter. Due to her high power ranking, she had a refined and mature fire element, but her water element needed work and improvement before it could be eligible to use.

Time passed by and with each session a new magician was born. The students were very satisfied with their awakenings and some were overjoyed. Now it was on to the remaining person left.

"Liu Prevalia...may you please come forth" Xu called.

Liu stepped out of the row walking past all of his other classmates. They all were tracking down his movement with their eyes and many of the girls felt quite unsure about him or who he was, or where he came from. Liu had to be completely focused if he wanted to pull something well.

A few small comments occurred.

"Hey isn't he the guy that jumped that school gate earlier?", a girl asked.

"I dunno...but I did hear how he ran crazy fast, did a backflip and made it. But if you really mean it then is that really the guy that did that...?", a boy asked.

"Hehehea...maybe he's some sort of juvenile...also he doesn't even dress like he's from around here, he looks like he could be from overseas.", a girl mocked.

"I can do this...I have no other choice!" Liu thought.

Liu finally arrived at the front table. He took a deep sigh and placed his right hand onto the magic circle seal.

The teacher Xu didn't really expect much from him.

Liu didn't look like he was from Shanghai at all, and he didn't even really look prepared for what he was about to do.

"This student sure doesn't look like he's from around here. I sorta wonder...just what kind of element will this student awaken.", Xu thought.

Xu looked carefully at Liu's movements and the class did as well. Also, Mei Luo had her attention centered towards Liu, she was observing him. I guess deep inside she was also curious as to what element Liu would awaken.

Liu took a breath.

"If this really...if this really is a magic world. Then let's see, what can I do!??", he thought.

Liu closed his eyes.

In his vision was complete darkness, void of silence, distant of distraction. He focused on his body--he felt a warm powerful burning sensation from his navel. He then channeled it up, then into his arm, and finally into his hand.

When he focused, something went wrong.

He suddenly found himself in another dimension...it was a dimension of nothingness. It was cold and void of emptiness. There was nothing, no one.

"Just where the hell am I?", he asked.

Liu felt the cold chills run down the back and through his spine.

"W-what the hell is this?!"

"Its another dimension...how did I get here."

Something came to Liu's mind.

Liu closed his eyes in the distant void and felt strong chills run through him, the wind, the temperature, there was an entirely unique atmosphere in the dimension he was in. He breathed...in and out.

By the next breath, a powerful-dark unknown element appeared on the black magic circle.

"W-what the hell is that?", Xu asked.

"Huh??", students gasped.

"Just what element is that?...", a girl asked her friend.

"Honestly...I don't know...i've never seen it before.", she answered.

Liu opened his eyes, they had been glowing. The pupils of his eyes were dilated as a Black-Magic circle. Liu's teeth clenched, as he tried to unleash the element out.

"Argnnnnn...", he grunted.

The magic circle seal began to grow and spin incredibly fast and soon.

"BOOM!!!", the Magic circle seal had exploded. A strange dark mist filled the classroom, blurring everyone's vision.

"What's going on?!!", a girl shouted.

"Why did it suddenly turn dark!?", a boy asked.

The mist began to fade from the classroom, but everyone's vision was impaired and once the classroom cleared up and every one vision was returned. They all noticed what the hell Liu had awakened.

Liu's body was glowing with a dark mystic aura around it, but around his body was also static. Well to be exact, this was lightning. Liu had awakened an unknown variation of the Lightning element.

"What...what is this? His body is glowing!?", Mei thought.

Liu's eyes opened. He found his body being surrounded by a dark lightning aura. The aura then began to fade shortly after. The teacher Xu at the time was confused and so surprised. He didn't expect Liu to awaken unknown lightningvariation.

"W-what...this student has awakened the Dark-lightning element. That is dark, isn't it!?? I refuse to believe that he could have awakened Black Magic...the possibilities of awakening a lightning variation is even higher than normal. But I thought there were only 2 lightning variations! It has to be dark-lightning!", Xu thought.

Liu was also amazed.

He had a confident smile on his face.

"Hey, so what is my score?...what class am I ranked in?", Liu asked.

"Your Power score...8,000!"

"Congratulations...welcome to the Mastery Class!", Xu shouted.

Xu couldn't believe what such great students he managed to gather. He could stand up with such honor and pride. He strongly believed they would all become great magicians in the future. The elements never really mattered but, only the skill of the user makes a difference.

Liu wasn't sure how he had done it. He looked down at his hand and his body, but somehow he was finally able to believe that he was a magician.

"I...I really am a Magician.", he thought.

There were still some things left unsolved. Liu didn't know much about his element, or how he was a magician in the first place. He saw no other reason to go back home, or warp back to his other dimension somehow, instead, he accepted this change and from now on forth his prime goal was to become a magician.
