Glossary: Definitions

Alchemist - An individual who can refine of plants, minerals, and other substances into medicinal pills and elixirs.

Angels - God's people. They are in charge of reincarnating good mortals.

Body Tempering - Cultivating the body through the use of Martial Arts.

Botanist - Plant Expert

Bottleneck - The term for when cultivators hit a wall in their training and it suddenly becomes incredibly difficult to proceed. When they reach a bottleneck, cultivators may require new insights, the aid of medicinal pills, or even harsher training in order to make a breakthrough and successfully bypass the bottleneck.

Core Formation - When the Qi turns into a golden sphere.

Cultivation - The process of increasing health, growing more powerful and reaching immortality.

Cultivation Base - The amount of Qi found within a cultivator's body.

Cultivator - An individual who trains to reach immortality.

Dao - The laws of the world. It is a part of the natural order of the world. Cultivators must understand at least one Dao to reach Immortality. This Dao is usually related to the individual's elemental affinity.

Dantian - It's where Qi is generally stored. There are technically three dantians. The lower one is to be used for cultivation. It is located three finger widths below and two finger widths behind the navel. The middle dantian is located at the heart. The upper dantian is located at a center point just higher than the eyebrows.

Demonic Beasts - Animals that are capable of cultivating. They are highly intelligent, and can become human after cultivating to a certain degree. They are more bloodthirsty than Spirit Beasts, and tend to go mad at random intervals. These beasts cultivate in a similar way to Demons. They have a core in their body, but it's only used by culivators who wish to become Fallen Immortals.

Demons - Devil's people. They are in charge of reincarnating evil mortals.

Devil - The one who rules Hell.

Fallen Immortals - What mortals call Demons.

Foundation Establishment - When the Qi slowly turns into liquid.

God - The one true God in Heaven.

Heavenly Tribulation - A trial encountered by cultivators at key points in their cultivation, which they must resist and ultimately transcend. It comes in the form of lightning striking the cultivator.

Immortal Ascension - Becoming an immortal / angel. When the Nascent Soul and Golden Core become one within the middle dantian.

Immortals - What mortals call Angels.

Internal Demons - Also known as a heart demon. It's a cultivator's negative emotions and mental barriers which hinder their training. Internal Demons can even attack the practitioner from the inside, and failure to adequately resist them may result in Qi Deviation.

Karma - Cosmic merit or demerit based on an individual's deeds. It affects an individual's life (good luck / bad luck) and eventually determines how they will reincarnate.

Manual - An instruction booklet on martial arts techniques or cultivation methods.

Martial Arts - Fighting styles and techniques that are used to cultivate the body.

Mental Force - Also known as spiritual sense. What is used to cultivate the elements of Space and Time. It is the strength of your mind and soul. It can also be used to scan a cultivator's surroundings (far beyond the limits of their ordinary 5 senses) with their spirit.

Meridians - The network of vessels / channels in the body through which Qi flows. Like blood vessels, but for Qi instead of blood.

Nascent Soul - Where a cultivator's soul forms in their upper dantian. It is shaped in their image, usually resting in a lotus position. Once the cultivator's Nascent Soul scatters, there is no reincarnation for them.

Qi - Energy that exists in all living beings. Used to cultivate to reach immortality.

Qi Deviation - A state where the cultivator's cultivation base becomes dangerously unstable, causing internal damage to the body and symptoms of psychosis. Individuals who succumb to their Internal Demons, who practice cultivation / martial arts incorrectly, or who rashly use forbidden arts are all at risk of falling into this state.

Qinggong - The ability to lighten your body. It is used by those who temper their body.

Qi Refining - An initial stage of cultivation which involves absorbing Qi from the natural world and refining it inside the body.

Reincarnation - The process of being reborn. Can be reborn into a human (80% for good, 10% for evil), animal (15% for good, 50% for evil) or ghost (5% for good, 40% for evil).

School - An institute where young cultivators go to learn how to cultivate.

Spirit Beasts - Animals that are capable of cultivating. They are highly intelligent, and can become human after cultivating to a certain degree. These beasts cultivate in a similar way to Angels. They have a core in their body, but it's only used by cultivators who wish to become Immortals.
