Instead of going to sleep, I waited for Lucas.

He said he was going home, but I waited for him for two whole hours, and he's still not around.

At around 3 in the morning, the sound of a car engine finally rumbled.

I immediately went down.

When I reached downstairs, Lucas was just entering the front door.

He looks… tired. Very tired.

When our eyes met, more than tiredness, I could see the sadness in his eyes.

He immediately walked to me and hugged me tightly as soon as he could.

"What's wrong?"

He was very late in arriving even though he said he'll go back soon.

There was probably some sudden advancements to his investigation.

But… why does he look so sad?

Instead of answering my question, he only hugged me even tighter.

"Shall we go upstairs?" I suggested.

"Un." He let me go and touched his stubble.

We went to his room, and I asked again.

"What happened, Lucas?"

He sat down on his bed, cradling his head as his elbow rested on his knees.
