13 Tracking the culprit

The round hatted police officer let the family members of the Wilson family go and instructed the head butler to call all the servants in the manor in the living room.

Lawrence's parents excused themselves and the police did not hold them off, including the brothers.

The whole Manor was cordoned down and no one can go in and out of the place. So even if the police let the Wilson family leave the living room, they still could not get out.

The old butler urged Lawrence to go back but he refused. He continued to sit on the sofa, holding Nala gingerly.

Once or twice he will approach the police officers and see the different pictures taken from the crime scene. Lawrence took one glance before retreating back. He took advantage of his small and frail body to sneak around.

Due to his previous profession, he became an expert in hiding in plain sight. He can walk in the middle of congested places but no one will find out he was ever there.

In other words, disguise is his best asset.

But in his current circumstances, he can't move freely. When Lawrence tried to get close to the police man with a round hat, the old butler's gaze feels like an annoying mosquito with its sharp needle pointed at his neck.

Lawrence patted Nala and smoothed out its soft black and white fur.

He should probably humor this old butler so that he could do his own investigation.

Lawrence pretended to yawn in boredom and walk away from the police officers.

At the corner of his eyes, he caught a glimpse of his brother's eyes watching him closely.

Lawrence ignored him and stopped in front of the old butler.

"I want to go back and take a nap."

"Of course, Young Master. Shall I accompany you?" The old butler's job is to keep an eye on Lawrence at all times. He only ask this question loudly in order for the police officers to hear and give their approval.

Because it was the servants turn for the questioning, none of them can leave yet. But the old butler had already answered the police's questions beforehand. He was also caught on the cctv in the butler's room, next to Lawrence's room, showing he never left all night.

The police man with a round hat nodded in approval when he saw the sickly pampered youngest son want his butler to send him back to his room.

These two people have nothing to do with the case anyway.

The old butler walked in front while Lawrence meekly followed. There are officers on patrol on every floor. When they reach the second floor, a police officer accompanied them, making sure the pampered young master get inside of his room safely.

When they reach the door, Lawrence stopped and look over at the old butler.

"I want to drink a cup of warm milk."

Lawrence thought the old butler will walk down to the kitchen to fetch him the milk, but contrary to his expectation, he went inside the room next door and came out with a tray and a glass of warm milk.

"Here you go, Young Master."

Lawrence raised his brow slightly. Since the milk is prepared next room, this means that the old butler had no intention of letting him out of his sight.

Lawrence observed the young police officer standing beside him. This one also received orders to keep an eye on him.

'Oh?'

Since it's both the butler and an officer, this indicates that someone from the Wilson family wanted to keep an eye on him.

'Mother? or Father?'

Lawrence became more meek and obedient in front of them. He went inside with the milk in hand and said,

"I'm going to study. Please don't let anyone disturb me."

The old butler was familiar with the Young Master's habits. If he said he's going to study, he's going to lock up inside his room all day and will only come out when its breakfast.

"Yes, Young Master." The old butler and the young officer exchange glances.

The officer nodded briefly and stood beside the door, while the old butler lower down his head slightly to bid Lawrence farewell.

For the whole ten minutes, Lawrence hurriedly ran towards his bed, covered his windows with curtain and pulled out thick books from the shelves to be piled in front of his desk.

If someone was in the door, they would only see the books and someone's hair who will sit on the chair.

Lawrence waited for fifteen more minutes to make sure the butler went to the next room.

He stopped in front of his door, thinking of multiple ways he could do to sneak up behind the officer and stun him.

But before he could go further in his thoughts, the small and fluffy black and white small cat stood majestically in front of him.

It's pink nose was raised slightly higher, making the fluffy fur on his chin shook lightly. Under the dim light, the kitten's big round jade eyes seemed to lit up.

Lawrence hesitated.

One human one cat stood behind the door, facing each other.

"Mreoww." Nala softly meowed.

Before Lawrence could react, the small and energetic black and white cat jumped and placed both its soft meat paw pads on the door.

A slight click was heard after. Then the door swung open.

The young police officer shift his attention to the door, expecting to see the handsome young master, but what greeted him is the cute and soft black and white cat.

The big round jade eyes meowed at him then the fluffy furball rubbed its cheek and whole body against the door.

Obviously, this young officer loves pets, he glanced inside and found the stack of books in the desk.

The Young Master must have been so engross in studying he didn't notice his cat come out.

Nala, the proud and majestic cat, gave a meaningful glance at Lawrence whose hiding behind the door before he went around the police officer, making him face the door with his back.

Lawrence suddenly understood. While he is contemplating how to sneak up behind the police officer without attracting his attention, his cat had already done it for him!
