8 Dream

(Author's Note)

I will be taking a lot of aspects from my life growing up as reference for some of the backstory for our MC :) I hope you all enjoy.

Reference:

ただいま- Ta・Da・I・Ma -> Tadaima is an expression used for when one returns home in a Japanese household. Kind of like "I'm home!"

お帰りなさい - O・Ka・E・Ri・Na・Sa・I -> Okaerinasai is used in response to Tadaima. It means "Welcome Back/Home!".

〜 - Used to extend the vowel sound of the last Hiragana/Katakana alphabet used. For instance,

ただいま(〜) would be Tadaima-a as opposed to the normal Tadaima

マンション - Pronounced as "Mansion" but isn't actually a mansion. It's more like a better apartment unit.

Karaage = Fried chicken. But better :)

I used the key under the pot to open the door to the our マンション.

"ただいま〜!"

お帰りなさい! is what I expected to come from my Mom like usual, but today there was no response. Maybe she went out to go buy groceries. When I entered the living room, I could see that there was a glass of water and food on a plate. There was Karaage (唐揚げ) bought from the local store on the side as an appetizer. Coming home to some food to fill your stomach after practice was always one of the greatest joys of my life. I quickly ate my food and went to my room to play some vidya and watch some anime.

Life was good. My grades were fine, I finally made a proper girlfriend, and I didn't have to worry about anything really. Everything was set in stone. Although my daily life was a routine life, it was by no means boring. I would get online and play vidya from the moment I got back home to when I would pass out late at night. Wake up at 6:20 to delicious home made breakfast, and then get on the bus to school at 7:05. I loved life.

While I was booting up my computer, an image filled my head. It was a picture of mother. And then, all of a sudden I was there at the funeral ceremony.

"I'm so sorry"

"I will be sending you prayers"

"I give you my deepest condolences"

"She's in a better place"

"blah blah blah"

"Yatah yatah yatah"

I didn't care about all that bullshit. I just wanted Mom to be alive.

"...-kael"

Huh? Was someone calling out my name?

"Mikael"

Who was that. The voice sounded familiar.

"MIKAEL!"

I was shaken back to reality. In front of me was Raphael, yelling at my face. Ahh yes that was right, I'm not on earth right now. I'm in a different world. My vision was a little blurry. I couldn't tell what was going on.

"Ahh!"

"You'll pay for this!"

I could hear screaming and yelling in the background. I was in a Worg hut, but not one which I have been in before.

"Raphael, what's going on. Where are we."

"We're at the main branch's village! The Felidae attacked! Everyone is fighting right now!"

"Calm down. Who is outside right now."

"Moon, Artemis, Hati and Lucine."

"Who is Lucine. And where are all of the other family members of the village."

"Lucine is Titus' youngest sister. Everyone was evacuated to Hati's village when the felidae were spotted. It's crazy Mikael. They're all so strong. Titus is weak from the duel and they captured him. You gotta do something!"

I walked out of the hut and what I saw was quite the disappointment...

There was a campfire in the center in a dark night. Sitting around the campfire were three Felidae.

"My little demons have told me Gir has been killed. The fool."

"We don't need anyone weak in our clan. Especially one that runs in saying he will claim the Worgs."

"Do not speak ill of my younger brother. His death will not be in vain."

The three Felidae were wearing hoods, but you could tell what species of Felidae they were simply by taking a look at their tails. There were two males, a Lion and a White Tiger. As well as a female Cheetah.

"I hear that the one who killed Gir was a human. How disgraceful."

The cheetah like Felidae spoke up.

"I said enough. As the leader of the Felidae, I vow his vengeance."

The lion Felidae seemed irritated at the cheetah's remark. The tiger felidae sat in silence.

"My little demons have also told me that Titus will be fighting this human in a quarter of a lunar cycle."

"Hmmm. I see. This is good news. Depending on how strong he is, we can take this opportunity to strike and finally dispose of the Worgs. What do you say, Buyak?"

"Leave me out of this. You do not know the horrors of war as I do."

And with that, white tiger Felidae Buyak stood up and left.

"Hmph. He just doesn't want to be out done in front of his companions. Well, Maf?"

"I will keep watch of the duel. If Titus is worn down, then we shall attack."

"I knew I could count on you."

"Always, Gar."

What stood in front of me at this time, were multiple cheetah like Felidae as well as lion like Felidae that were similar to Gir. Moon and Hati were defending against three each while Artemis and Lucine were in the back casting Fenrir's breath on them. They looked absolutely worn out. This was displeasing.

"Hati!"

Hati heard my voice and immediately retreated to me.

"I'm sorry sir, they took Titus. We were outnumbered and Gar showed up, snatched him and left."

"Don't worry, I will fix this."

I looked at the Felidae. They were weaker than Gir. This was going to be easy. Without a warning, I dashed at each of the three felidae that were attacking Hati just a moment ago individually. Left arm jab, right arm elbow, and a high kick, respectively. Within a moments notice, they were all limp on the floor. The other Felidae caught on to what was happening and backed off from Moon.

"How dare you!"

"How dare I? Silence you inferior trash."

I was getting extremely tired of this. I had a huge plan of uniting the beast-men of the forest before taking over the Landeng empire. Why must they show such brutish features of monsters. I knew that they could be civil, as I have seen in the Worgs.

"Do you know who we a-"

I dashed at the one talking, grabbed him by the nape of his neck and shoved his face into the dirt.

"I don't care who you are. You've disrupted my peace and if you say another word, you will cease to exist. And you two, don't make any sudden movements or your comrade here dies."

I turned over to Moon.

"Can you still fight?"

"Yes, Lord Mikael."

Wow what a personality change.

"Alright we're going to go get your brother back, don't worry. Do you know where this 'Gar' took your brother?"

"There was a Felidae camp spotted east of here. I believe he would be there."

I then proceeded to hit the Felidae in my hand's temple as well as the other two in order to incapacitate them.

"Alright, you lead the way and at top speed. Don't worry I can keep up."

Moon was fast. If I were calculate just how fast we were traveling, I would guess 25 meters per second. It wasn't my fastest, but I was still impressed.

"Sir, we will arrive at the camp in just under a minute"

"Understood. I just took over this tribe I'm not about to lose the head of it."

When we arrived, Titus was in a pitiful condition. They had clearly been torturing him. I was aware of this as he was tied up and put on display in the center of the camp. Luckily he was still breathing.

All of the Felidae stopped dead in their tracks when they noticed that we were here. A couple attempted to charge at me, but after I blew their limbs off with simple kicks, the others were more hesitant.

"Where is Gar. I have some issues with him."

From behind all of the Felidae that surround our front, A large Lion Felidae that was wearing a hood started to make his appearance.

"Silly Human. Do you think you can sim-"

I was pissed. Beyond pissed. This wasn't anime. This wasn't a story. This was life and death. I wasn't about to let him finish his sentence, and I couldn't care for it. I dashed at him at my full speed and kicked his right leg. I could tell from his lack of an aura that he was nowhere near as strong as he thought he was. In fact, Titus would have murdered him in an instant had he been at full strength.

*Crunch*

This being that calls himself 'Gar' roared in pain and then gave me a dirty look. And so I decided to wipe that look off of his face with a nice kick to the face. He was sent flying, rolling a few times before hitting the outer wooden wall of the camp. I heard some movement behind me as I was walking towards Gar and so I turned.

"If you even think about touching Titus or Moon while I'm having a chat with your leader, you're all dead and so are all of your families."

Hopefully that was enough to keep them in check. And so I turned back to this 'Gar'. He was trying to get back up with all of his might. After all, I had completely shattered his kneecap and most likely severed all of the main ligaments, the ACL, MCL, PCL and LCL. But I wasn't about to let him have another chance. It is kill or be killed in this world. That is the one prevailing truth in the animal kingdom. To be the apex predator, you must survive and lose to no one. I dashed next to him again, but this time decided give him another punch to the face. I then grabbed him by his nape and tossed his body in front of Titus. I felt that this was needed for them to see in order to judge their situation.

Titus was barely alive. His claws had been forcefully torn off and he had cuts all over his entire body. This truly enraged me.

"Fenrir. Heal your Kin."

I cast Fenrir's Breath on Titus and all of his wounds were sealing up and his claws came back. In fact, he looked stronger than when he faced me after I healed him.

I freed him from his ropes and presented the little shit to him.

"Thank you, Mikael.. no.. Master..."

Although I wanted to set an example out of Gar for torturing my new ally, I thought it was best to let Titus punish him for his mistake.

"Gar... what were you thinking when you decided to attack. You know this is grounds for a retaliation. You broke the old code laid down by our eldest ancestors. And for that I will inevitably and regretfully kill you. I want to know what was going through your head, before I take it."

The groaning Gar came to his senses decided that he could at least muster enough strength to give a response. I was more curious as to why Titus was even giving him the chance to speak. To be honest, his facial expression seemed more disappointed and sad rather than angry.

"I... I know that my Brother's death is not a reason to attack, and that his death was in fact justified from becoming feral. I have nothing to say, but this: Please spare my comrades. They were simply following my command. As you know, most of the Felidae don't believe in going to war after your father's humiliation of our clan..."

"I understand. Farewell... Gar."

I could see the feeling of sorrow starting to show in the form of tears as Titus raised his hand. All of Gar's comrades were standing in silence with their heads down. They understood the severity of the situation. Then, an idea came popped into my head. And just before Titus' full force power was about to hit Gar, I grabbed his arm by the wrist.

"That's enough. Clearly he genuinely regrets his actions. And if there is one undeniable truth of any world, it is that hate breeds more hate. And I don't know the relation between you two, but killing Gar is not the right answer."

I then cast Fenrir's Breath on Gar and his fellow comrades that I injured, which healed them back to their fullest, then turned to face Titus.

"I told you... I was going to unite the monsters of the forest. Felidae are not an exception."

To be honest I felt like a hypocrite. I use hate and despair to my advantage. But seeing both Titus' empathy and Gar's selflessness in a moment where they were enemies, I could not let them go through with this. In fact, they seemed more "human" in this instance than I have been at times.

In but a few moments, the atmosphere turned from hostile, to peaceful.

"Gar, we will let you and your companions leave peacefully, but we expect you to come to our Circle meeting with all of the Felidae leaders within two nights. Titus, Moon... we're leaving."

And so, after I returned with them and made sure everything was in check, two nights had passed and the the circle meeting was beginning.
