1 Chapter 1: Bad luck

I walked on to my school campus every one tried their best to stay clear of me. Everyone seemed to always be scared of me because of my looks. I look like a normal person I just happen to always have bandages on my arms and my neck. Some times on my face.

They think I'm suicidal or have been in way too many fights. I'm neither I'm just clumsy and my neighbor has the meanest Chihuahua, named Houdini for a reason. I have a neck wound from it trying to kill me, and random cuts on the back of my neck from my older brother breaking my window. My arms look worse from scratches and bites of the dog, along with me falling out of a tree and scratching one of my arms bad and I ended up cutting the other. Small things like this have been happening to me for a year. A year of being in this school.

I moved to this school at the beginning of this year. My older brother went off the college, and I got stuck being a scary person here. Luckily, a childhood friend of mine and neighbor had to move to this school for the same reason. A drunk driver ran into our old school, then a bunch of rats and cockroaches was found and our school was shut down. Now we have to go here till they fix the school and fix it so it's sanitary.

I have the confidence of a chicken nugget most of the time, so I haven't tried to make any friends and I let them think I'm crazy. At least no one bullies me and I get to read in peace. You would think that I could get bullied for not being rich like all the other schools, but since people are scared I'm good. They felt bad for what happened, so they let my neighbor and I go to their school because we had high test Scores any way.

It was half-way through the year already and most new kids aren't accepted into this school, but here was the school acting like they were normal people seeing someone famous. I swear these students get to see anyone who is rich and famous, but for some reason acts crazy times like this. I wanted to see who it was, plus find my neighbor because I was bored, so I headed my way to the crowd.

When I was close people started to move out of the way for me. I saw the new guy. He had tattoos, piercings, and had all the girl's eyes. No other guy here would dress like that and because their dads would kill them. Not to mention there is a dress code.

I saw my neighbor I walked past the parting that the kid was walking in. Everyone gave me a scared look for my safety, but I ignored them and grabbed my neighbor and pulled him with me to the tree. He looked relieved to get out of there.

When we arrived at the Tree he smiled at me and asked, "How are you doing Avery?"

I smiled at him and said, "I'm doing fine as normal. What about you Alex?"

He smiled and patted me in the head and said, "doing better seeing you."

Even though this kid was not a rich kid he was pretty popular with both guys and girls. He is called the prince because he is sweet, smart, and can get into any girls pants. The guys like him because the girls come around him, and they can get some, and he is a fun person to be around. We have been friends for years and I've liked him for a few fewer years, but he is in a relationship with a cute rich girl. She is really nice to him, but still really scared of me. He can't hang around me much because she is possessive and throws a fit whenever I'm around.

"Thanks for that you know me too well," he said as he sat under the tree. I smiled at him since I was the only one in the school who knew that he had anxiety and those types of things don't help him out. I end up saving him a bunch from it.

"It's what the best friends do," I said as I sat beside him

And pulled my knees to my chest tiredly. I hadn't slept in two days because I had been reading. I watched as the new guy walked into the school, then the kids walked away.

Once everyone was in their own area, and his girlfriend was getting mad that he was gone, and I was the one who took him away, he went to her. I sat there looking like the sky slowly turned gray as the sky was being taken over by the clouds. My mind started to blank as everything around me stopped mattering.

The bell rung telling everyone it was time to head into the school. It woke me up from my small nap. I ignored it and went back to sleep. I knew no one would notice me not being there, so I didn't care.

I woke up to water hitting my face. I looked up to see it was rain. I looked at the time on my phone and it told me it was just at the end of my second class of the day. My next class was art, so I stood up and headed into the school.

The principal looked at me with a sad smile and said, "you've been excused from class Avery. Thanks for still coming though you have done all the classwork for the year already."

I nodded tiredly and walked to my art class. I have always been a productive and bored student, so at the beginning of the year, I walked to the school and got the work from the principal. I did it and turned it back in. She graded it herself self and lets the teachers see it when it's time. I just do special stuff that wasn't on the plan now.

I walked into the art class and the teacher smiled at me as soon as she saw me. I walked to my desk near the window and sat there and I started to paint. The rest of the class went over how to do random things. They all thought it was unfair, but none of them knew I already did all of it.

The day ended and it was still raining out. I loved the rain, but I had to show up for a class a day why not art and I couldn't be soaked for it. Lunch was just something I came inside for. The new kid was confused by what was going on with me. He ended up making friends with Alex and his friends.

"Avery," Alex called out loud enough every one looked at the two of us. I just wanted to sneak in buy two brownies and go to the library and sit in this class walked the area.

"Yes," I said walking over to his table. His friend and girlfriend glared at me. They knew that the two of us were friends, but they hated it.

He smiled at me and said, "The new kid Ashton over here was wondering why you never showed up to class when you did you never did work. And I realized I never knew would it bother you to give an answer?"

I looked at him and said, "I don't need to go to all of my classes only like one a day. I just come here to say I was here and because if I'm anywhere else I may get in trouble. I did all of my classwork early in the year when I was bored one break from bad weather."

I grabbed a fry from Alex's plate and walked back out with my brownie. It was funny to see the shocked face of those people. They thought I was failing while I was in fact succeeding. It might ruin the reputation I have a bit, but I never cared about reputation.
